adam-__- Posted June 17, 2008 Author Report Posted June 17, 2008 Thanks for the comments guys. car looking really sweet mate were abouts in Melbourne you located if u don't mind me asking might sound stupid but whats the newspaper rolling of the guard method like i no what is meant by rolling the guard but what is using a newspaper I'm in the Dandenong region mate. A newspaper roll is pretty much just dropping your car onto your tyres with only a newspaper/book in between your guard and tyres. So pretty much take out your springs so that the car rests on your tyres, the newspaper's just there to give the tyres some clearance if the car ever gets to that height WITH the springs in. This technique 'pumps' your guards out where it's needed. Pretty dodgy if you ask me, but it does the job. :) Quote
hilton Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 (edited) haha, i did the same method but my springs are captive and squashed as it sits ont he ground, so i drive the car woward and back with a baseball between the gaurd and the tyre and it pushes it out perfect to allow the right clearance. yeh its gangster but works a treat! hey dude i love yoru car hey, it has a tuff stance, only thing i would add to that picture would bea bit of camber, front wheel fitment looks pretty perfect as it is so i don't recon camber tops would be the go, coz that would just pull in the top of the wheel, id say go and find yourself some corona lca's, then the top will stay similar and it will bring the bottom of the wheel otu and increase your track...probly heard this all before but yeh dude i like it! engine plans? adam-__- Posted June 18, 2008 Author Report Posted June 18, 2008 Thanks for the comments. I ended up using a pole to flare my guards a little more. I couldn't stand my tyres rubbing every little second that it was moving. hahah With the front wheel fitment, it's not too bad, but would like it a little wider/aggressive. I was thinking corona arms, just need to find someone selling one for a decent price. I agree with you that it needs a little camber for it to look aggressive. Soon... Engine upgrades, YES! :) I found a guy in Tassie who's selling his 4AGE into KE70 package and I've put a deposit on it, but still need to hear a price for shipping to me in Melbourne. Package comes with the engine itself, gearbox, from engine cross member, modded T18 pedal box to suit KE70, clutch master and lines. Still need a few things to get it actually running though. Hopefully by the end of next week I'll see the package and I'll start work on the car straight away. Quote
godlovesugly Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 it always warms my heart to see a young person building a car at a steady but realistic pace, kudos to you. KE70s are really really growing on me now, i love that stance and the fat wheels, i think i might have to get one for a daily while the KE20 gets a new engine and paint. when you say that you won those wheels on an auction what auction you talking about?? yahoo japan?? LittleRedSpirit Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 Just caught up on your build, its coming along really well. What kind of camera are you using? Your photographs are quite good quality. Keep up the good work. Try to resist the temptation to buy a front wheel drive with powersteering, ok. :) Quote

Cheers mate. Yeah, I bought my wheels off Yahoo Auctions Japan. I got Jesse Streeter to bid and send them over to me. Not too sure if I've mentioned it before, but it set me back about $950 all up including Rays Engineering wheel nuts, so not too bad. Just caught up on your build, its coming along really well. Here's a picture of what it looks like. Instead of pink, it's black. Not the best camera out there, but does the job. Cheers! :) Quote
adam-__- Posted June 18, 2008 Author Report Posted June 18, 2008 Because I mentioned my wheel nuts, I might as well post up a picture of them. :) Quote

Boost+k Posted June 19, 2008 Report Posted June 19, 2008 i love your car... what a overrated all rounder, why don't you run the 7.5's on the front and the 7's on the rear to get clearance on the rear and grip on the front? Quote
adam-__- Posted June 20, 2008 Author Report Posted June 20, 2008 Thanks guys. The comments have made me want to keep the car even more! I was thinking of selling at one stage. :lolcry: i love your car... what a overrated all rounder, why don't you run the 7.5's on the front and the 7's on the rear to get clearance on the rear and grip on the front? I like the way me rear wheels sit in the guards at the moment. Couldn't ask for more. ;) The fronts aren't too bad, just need the corona arms and it'll be perfect. I haven't done anything extreme yet to need the grip anyway so it's all good. Just rounding things up for my 4AGE conversion. Just need the AE radiator, fuel lines, fuel pumps and the ECU, looms to suit a big port. Once I get all these things and everything rocks up at my door, the project will begin. I'm on a 8 week uni break so that'll help! Cheers :y: Quote
adam-__- Posted June 29, 2008 Author Report Posted June 29, 2008 A little taste of what's to come in the next few weeks. Quote

Philbo Posted June 29, 2008 Report Posted June 29, 2008 Hey, Sweet KE70 man, love the rims. How did the rear suspension straightening go? Mine is the same, but I've changed springs and it didn't go away, any ideas? Quote
