Taz_Rx Posted February 9, 2009 Report Posted February 9, 2009 Such a high quality build,....... yet you're using such low quality speakers!? Quote
RollaBus_4agze Posted February 9, 2009 Author Report Posted February 9, 2009 They seriously arent low quality at all champ  Â Bought back about 5 years ago, they were damn near 600 for a pair... Wait til you hear it! Â Everyone tells me Xplod are shit rah rah rah... But as soon as I show them what the system sounds like, they change their minds :hmm: Â Plus, there arent anyone else making red speakers to match my interior ;) Quote
Taz_Rx Posted February 9, 2009 Report Posted February 9, 2009 $600! Â expensive - yes. quality - still debatable! :hmm: Â I know at the end of the day it comes down to personal preference, but for that sort of money I would have bought a set of Rockford Fosgate 6" components AND AN AMP TO DRIVE THEM!!!! ;) You've colour coded the grills anyway! Â Yes I am a fussy prick  , mainly cause I'm an Audio Visual tech, but as all other Launy members can attest I'm probably a bit biased when it come to ICE. Â If you ever need stuff, go down to Hobart Car Audio, ask for Jade and tell him Simon said to give you a good price. :hmm: Quote
RollaBus_4agze Posted February 9, 2009 Author Report Posted February 9, 2009 (edited) haha yeah cheers man :hmm: Appreciate it!  Yeah 600... crazy huh... actually, thinking now, it would be around 7 years since I bought them (never used them til about 3 years ago lol) and the front 3-way 6.5" were $450 or so each pair!!! Crazy how much audio was back then lol  At some stage I will upgrade... But looking what I have spent on the car already they will do for the time being ;) lol  It would be a different story if I were being sponsored (like alot of high end cars) Edited February 9, 2009 by RollaBus_4agze Quote
67Rolla-Ken Posted February 9, 2009 Report Posted February 9, 2009 All the steering stuff looks insaine! So close to finished. Keep it up! Quote
SLW42 Posted February 9, 2009 Report Posted February 9, 2009 how much has this thing cost you man should be a quick street + show car when it's done Quote
Johno Posted February 9, 2009 Report Posted February 9, 2009 don't quote me on this but i think there is two types of Sony explode. There's the cheap nasty stuff that young P platers buy just to say I got Sony Explode speakers and subs. Its like 100 bucks for a set of 6x9. Then there's the high end stuff for audio comps, that must be what you got and i heard from someone on here they are pretty damm good. Â *runs and hides* Quote
Taz_Rx Posted February 9, 2009 Report Posted February 9, 2009 Yeah you're right, there is two levels of SONY X-plode's, Mo obviously has the better end of the scale. But for $600 when compared to say Alpine Type X (not even type R) the alpines will blow them away!!! Â Have you also ever seen the SCA (NOT SONY) X-PLOD!? Heard a rumour about a shop having lots of proper sony 6"s, which they thought were absolute rubbish. Went to supercheap and bought heaps of the X-PLOD speakers, threw their grills away, put the sony grill in the boxes and happilly sold the no-names as proper X-plodes as they sound better!!! Â Sony don't care much about ICE, thats not where there money is. On their lower end head units the stereo spill (left through right and vice versa) used to be so bad - around 40% (when alpine is about 4%) that they didn't even claim there head units where STEREO!!! They where technically a mono head unit!!! Quote
JiP Posted February 14, 2009 Report Posted February 14, 2009 Someone get me a towel. Â Dude, this thing is coming across GREAT!!! I can't wait till August!!! Quote
Johno Posted March 3, 2009 Report Posted March 3, 2009 I just noticed you don't have front indicators!!? I got a mate who had a R33 Skyline and he got a new front bumper and it didn't have front indicators and he got a defect notice for it and he had to install new ones. Â How's the car going anyway? :| Quote
Trev Posted March 3, 2009 Report Posted March 3, 2009 It still has a front indicator tho, Moe did you change the flasher unit? Quote
RollaBus_4agze Posted March 25, 2009 Author Report Posted March 25, 2009 Hey guys...  Havent been able to get much done on the Rolla due to being really sick the last few weeks... But its definately great to get back online and seeing everyones progress on their rides   But heres a few random updated pics for ya'll...  Interior door handles: Sprayed in a red anodised dye with a silver sparkle!  Gauges: Have relocated them to the driver side A-pillar. They were origionally on top of the dash, but after chucking the origional dash and smoothing/painting a new one, I wanted it to have a more clean look.   The tube that is used for the boost gauge was also quite large. I used some heatshrink I picked up from Jaycar and used it to tie both the wiring and tube together so it looks much neater.  Random exterior pics...   Now that I am feeling better, I'm going to get stuck into it big time now! The engine is also ready to fire... Just need to pressureize (sp?) the oil system and put some fuel in her :D  FINALLY!!!  I just noticed you don't have front indicators!!? I got a mate who had a R33 Skyline and he got a new front bumper and it didn't have front indicators and he got a defect notice for it and he had to install new ones. How's the car going anyway? :jamie:   It still has a front indicator tho, Moe did you change the flasher unit?  Hey fellas!  Yeah I had to get rid of them in the bumper man because they were fouling on the 'cooler piping! My old man is a Transport Inspector in Tassie, so after having a chin wag with him one night, he said because the indicators on the sides (just around from the headlights) are visible from the front of the car, it is legal :D  Not sure if it differs in another state tho :)  Cheers, Moe Quote
koolstik Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 looking good as always Moe :P Once I get my new ae82 regoed I'll have to come down for a look and maybe grab some parts! Quote
RollaBus_4agze Posted May 29, 2009 Author Report Posted May 29, 2009 (edited) Hey guys...  Well, after months of being sick, and 3 surgery's over the last two months, I'm finally starting to feel better :rolla:  So, looking at my boot install, I thought it was time for a change...  New car, why not a new boot install :hmm:  What I have done so far over the last 1.5 days lol...     It REALLY rough guys so don't look too closely just yet lol  Lots of sanding... bogging... sanding... glassing... and more and more sanding lol Edited May 29, 2009 by RollaBus_4agze Quote
