hey all, I'm a kiwi uni student about to finish this year and looking for jobs.

 

So far most of the offers have come from sydney, melbourne and perth. Just wondering, what cities, states are best for the car enthuisast.

 

If i move i want to be somewhere where i can pick up a reasonable k series corolla and expect to keep it (don't know if uve heard but in christchurch there has been a wave of theives either stealing or molesting k series corollas and starlets)

 

and also just about living in each city

all states have a wide variety of KE's...some states seem to specialise in a different series, be it the ke1x/2x/3x/5x/7x

 

choosing one city over another will come down to personal choice really. i imagine all the jobs are around the same $ amount. living expenses (rent, foor, travel, distances) vary a fair bit just in each state, not to mention across states.

nah we're running out of power so i think our lack of supply will do that for us

 

hopefully engineering design. Probably the dream of most mechanical engineers but ive managed to do pretty well in design and manufacturing papers so it should be alright. All we have here for mech are building services. there are some firms but they botique type operations.

well I'm definately moving over and planning to get a ke16/18 just cause wagons rule, and second up a ke15/17 just cause they are so damn cool

25's are better :(

raven, you need to let go of the fact no-one wants to buy a '25 :(

 

as for a wagon, you'd almost be better bringing one across with you, as they're a touch hard to get hold of.

I'd say there are less corollas in Perth, and probably more car-related places over east (importers, etc.). However, I'd prefer to work in Perth just because it's less busy and I just like it.

Mate, if you want to work in engineering product design, head to melbourne. Mining, oil and gas, head to Perth or Brisbane.

 

As for getting a 16/18, I've bought 2 in the past 8 years in melbourne as well, but there's also a bunch floating around adelaide, but none of us will get rid of them ahahaha.
