What Engine Is In My Rolla?

I got a 87 rolla seca off a mate for next to nothing, it goes like hell and i thought it had a 4ag(N/A) in it at first but after checking it out I'm not sure what engine it has, still a 4 banger east west engine but the extractors come out the front towards the radiator then curve back down under it??? i looked all over the net and this site but can't find a pic like it. ill try and post a photo of the engine asap

Pics will help 100000%. 4AGEs are very easy to identify, and if it's any other Toyota engine then someone will recognise it (and the chances of it being a non-Toyota engine in an AE82 are very minimal)

You beat me to it Luke :P 4AC would be my guess as well... Though 4AC aren't hard to find pics of? Could be something different.

aha all the pics i seen of 4a's must have been in rwd's thats why they werent facing easty west and all the exhausts were off the side...

if the extractors are at the front of the motor towards the radiator, its deffinetely not 4ac, it will be either 4age or 4afe. My bet is thats it's a 4age bigport. :P

don't all Toyota East-West engines have the exhaust pointing towards the Radiator. and toyota AE71, 4ac did come in FWD :P

nope 4ac is non crossflow, yeah i know ae82's have 4ac... i have one lol. so therefore the inlet and exhaust on a 4ac in an ae82 are at the 'back' of the motor, pretty stupid idea if you ask me though :P

yeah i did but every pic on the net 4ag's didnt look the same as this one the exhausts all came out the sides not out the front, now i realise its cos they were all in rwd so it wasnt facing east west

which section would that be in? the search isnt coming up with anything usefull about basic upgrades, its all about forced induction :(
