Evan G Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 how much did the rav4 shockers set you back? massive improvement over stock? Quote
towe001 Posted January 7, 2011 Author Report Posted January 7, 2011 About $120 off ebay. I think its a bit of a meh with the improvement was expecting a bit more since the rav4 is heavier. Quote
towe001 Posted January 19, 2011 Author Report Posted January 19, 2011 I decided to pull my finger out on sunday and got cracking on repairing a small spot of rust behind the front left wheel. Everything was going fine till And its just getting better I had to take the panel off cause there was even bog packed in behind. More on that later.  But what was it you asked A scouring pad :blinks: Nice and damp as well  I've heard of paper being used but not a damn scouring pad. Till ambers dad came over tonight and "Oh yeah i've used they before"........:blinks:  Now i'm wondering what else is hidden under the body work. Quote
Trev Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 At least it was a metal scouring pad :P Quote
towe001 Posted January 19, 2011 Author Report Posted January 19, 2011 And i toyed with the idea of wheel spats  True that trev, at least it was metal Quote
silverra23 Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 Don't toy with the spats idea any more! Looks good on an EH Holden.. not on a Corolla :) Quote
towe001 Posted January 19, 2011 Author Report Posted January 19, 2011 I showed the other half after i did it and she almost threw up  Quote
philbey Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 Don't toy with the spats idea any more! Looks good on an EH Holden.. not on a Corolla :) Â Are you crazy! I hate the stupid spats on EH's with that dirty piece of rubber strip in between them. Quote
towe001 Posted February 24, 2011 Author Report Posted February 24, 2011 In-between doing this that and everything else i managed to find the time to do some rust repair And many thanks to Andy43 for the splash panel, whom i owe a beer to when hopefully we meet up :jamie: Its taken me forever and a day to get the car back on the road. May not the best of jobs, but i got it back there. Quote
kpope18 Posted April 17, 2011 Report Posted April 17, 2011 it looks good man you wouldnt happen to have a spare bonnet at all would ya lol Quote
towe001 Posted April 17, 2011 Author Report Posted April 17, 2011 Nar sorry mate don't have a spare bonnet at all. Â And for a bit of an update on the charoit - I've been having troubles with the clutch. Its been slipping, but only after about 20min of driving and really only in 4th and from time to time in third. Never in first, second or reverse. I've made sure the clutch cables adjusted correctly, all the bolts that i can get too are tight and I've also done the test of having the motor idling, stepping on the clutch, selecting 4th and taking my foot off the clutch and the motor starts bitching as soon as the clutch starts to grab. I'm wanting to get under to pull the g'box out so i can have a look see, but firstly i need to get the motovation to do it :( Quote
SLO-030 Posted April 17, 2011 Report Posted April 17, 2011 Get the car up on ramps. Both you and your mate can have the gearbox out, clutch in and gearbox back in, in under 30mins. Â If your lucky, you wont even have to top up the gearbox oil. Â Rust repair is also looking good. Amazing what you find in original looking cars. Quote
towe001 Posted April 24, 2011 Author Report Posted April 24, 2011 Had a mate come up from Gympie for a few days and he helped me with the clutch. About the only thing we could find was the clutch plate itself was greased up a little. A good hit with brake cleaner on the clutch, pressure plate, flywheel and inside the bellhousing did a good job on the grease. Seamed to work in fixing the slippage, but the test drive i think there was still some there. Quote
towe001 Posted April 24, 2011 Author Report Posted April 24, 2011 But this time today i had the fun of doing the job of taking it out myself. And with a DIY transmission jack that i made up i had the g'box out and pulled the clutch out. The g'box side of the clutch plate, pressure plate still had a bit of grease on it. But since i was taking it kind of slow i give it all a good bath with three cans worth.  Putting the box back in and the father-in-law spotted this little venomous phucker Toowoomba Funnel-web  I really really hate spiders. More so the ones that can kill in an hour or two. Quote
