yeah ta22's  i wouldnt say you'd pick up a decent one for under $3k.. especially to learn in.. id pick up a ke70 for a 1/3 of that and search for a ta22 later on

cheers

Probably was a good first car in the 90s, but they are getting collectable now. Would be more suitable for an enthusiast into old Japanese classics.

For a first car, look for a KE70 or AE71, would be good to learn in.

Even KE70's are starting to get a Takumi tax. The early FWD Rolla's are the cheapest and most "unwanted" of the lot now. I'm sure they're still decent cars!

A twin-cam AE82 would be a pretty fun first car. They have a decent handling/brake setup too!

I love the Takumi Tax  luckily I didn't have to pay much Takumi tax on my 86.

It's a shame that you can't pick up a decent KE to learn in these days (ie one that has been around but still doesn't have too much rust). I learnt in a KE35 and it was great. The car had no guts at all, but it was still a cool little car. I don't know if there are any decent RWD cars you could get as a first "learn to drive in" car, so FWD is probably the way to go.

Keep looking for bargains! They are still around. Depending where you are. I drove 200 k's for my e7. And got a mad deal. If you get the silly car +1 awesome. And make sure you keep us updated!
