The heat gun is the right idea though. I watched a "how to" movie on the use of a gaurd roller. They heat the paint to soften it, and then roll it (thus not cracking it).

get one of the planeteers to use "FIRE" on it.

Using a rubber mallet on a KE35 easily provided clearance for 225/60/13's even when it was down to the bump stops. Done correctly it shouldnt crack paint (didnt crack mine anyway). It actually pushed the whole quarter panel out. That was the plan anyway but we thought it would require a porta power to achieve this like on a mates Statesman.
