I've never heard of Rotary Crate Motors. I could be wrong in saying, but there isnt the demand for prebuilt motors of this nature. I know when i got my BP built, I went to a workshop of my choice to get it done. You can always go to an importer or workshop to get a low km's import motor.

I think Atkins Rotary may do changeover motors and they organise the freight etc.

I'm sure Mazda will sell you a new engine just like any other manufacturer, it will just be expensive and you will have to buy a domestically delivered rotary, such as an RX8 13B-MSP.

I'm sure the bang for buck is better from a Cosmo halfcut or the like...

Might aswell throw a 5k in it, the MSP is a very economically built rotor and porting is a totally different setup, it takes more to get power out of one then what it does a S4/5 engine.

Only because you can just wind the boost up in the RX7. Just the same story as any NA vs Turbo motor. RX8 motors have side exhaust ports as well as intake ports if you didn't know. Pretty much totally elliminates overlap. It'll be interesting when there's a few more RX8's out of warentee and people start tuning the NA renesis a bit more. Already seen a couple of renesis converted gen 1's.

Oh and btw, I would personally steer clear of a 12a as Mazda has now stops production of 12a parts, so things like rotor housings are getting rarer and more expensive. You can cut down 13b housing but thats just more expense in machining. Better off just going 13b to start with.

But if you can't go 13B (legally), it seems like the only option for 12A owners. I think Kangaroosa's KE30 is using machined down 13B housings.

Yup, worst case they'll set you back $700 a pair supplied and machined.

Ha I was wondering if anyone else has priced a geni rx8 motor? My mate who is a service manager at our local Mazda dealer got a wholesale price through his spares

dept. How does $10,000 sound for a new rx8 eng and again is a wholesale price that don't include fitting or hang ons etc.

Who said rotary performance was cheap?

Stu.
