ScottKE1X Posted December 19, 2011 Report Posted December 19, 2011 Just a heads up, I did ke70 discs on my ke11 and you need to re-drill and tap new thread for the caliper mount. iirc you need to use the ke70 caliper mounts as the ke70 disc dia is different to ke55... Can someone confirm? I did this a long time ago now. I just use ke20 discs and calipers if you can find them as the difference in braking was insignificant. Cheers Quote
Jono.C Posted December 19, 2011 Author Report Posted December 19, 2011 Yep yep i noticed i'm going to have to drill and tap the struts. You can't use ke70 unless you tried to drill it out. As the 4 bolt pattern to the strut is different to all the other corolla ones. I have a photo that i'll upload when i get it off my phone. Ke55 and ke70 are supposed to have the same brakes. Thicker rotors and Girlock calipers compared to whatever it was ke30 had It has ke20's on it now but don't rate them.. Quote
Jono.C Posted December 22, 2011 Author Report Posted December 22, 2011 Went and bought a k50 out of a ke70 on my way out to town for the night last night. And on rollaclub, i've always seen people say you HAVE to use the 5sp gearlever. So to test that, I got my 4sp Ke10 shifter, and it fits, so... Dunno what you guys have been doing! Shifts fine and doesn't foul on anything etc. The reason i tried this is i want to cut shorten and bend one to make a shorter shifter, as i can't stand long shifters, especially as it may end up with a dildo shifter on it. Anyone got a favourite/ prefered type of degreaser? Box is proper filthy. And the cans i have at home are useless Quote
Taz_Rx Posted December 22, 2011 Report Posted December 22, 2011 Ke55 k50 shifters are unique. I think you can even use t50 shifters for a ke70 one! Fyi carby cleaner is like hard core degreaser if you can afford it. Quote
Jono.C Posted December 22, 2011 Author Report Posted December 22, 2011 Oh really? Might have to give it a go. Not going to get too crazy with detailing and polishing etc. Just keep it tidy. As at the moment all i have is a pile of grease and dirt i can't actually see the box :laff: Quote
JJT036 Posted December 22, 2011 Report Posted December 22, 2011 When we did the engine swap for Ollie, we took off the K40 Gearbox, and headed down to the Local Carwash, and hit it with their Degreaser and High-Pressure Rinse. Came up pretty clean. Then we headed back home to let it dry in the sun, and then we hit it with some Silver and Satin Black out of some Pressure Pack Cans we had kickin' around. :) Before: After: Josh  Quote
Jono.C Posted December 22, 2011 Author Report Posted December 22, 2011 Now that, Is a damn good idea!! How the hell haven't i thought of that before? :P Lets just hope the local carwash wont mind :hmm: Quote

Jono.C Posted December 23, 2011 Author Report Posted December 23, 2011 It isn't really :glare: Just keep noticing spots on it everytime i look at it.. It was never meant to be perfect as it's going for that sorta kinda rough outlaw spec finish but.. I guess it's just how neat do i want it, i don't have a heap of time left to get it prepped before i run out of painting weather, and i've still got to get the gaurds flared Quote
Jono.C Posted December 28, 2011 Author Report Posted December 28, 2011 Random photo i found off my DSLR from when i made the sidepipe, Couldn't get it any further up the ramps as it was just baking tire (1) :lolcry: Quote
Jono.C Posted December 28, 2011 Author Report Posted December 28, 2011 You and me both!! Might be taking the paint in for a minor retint as it's a bit light in full sun. Then fix the worst bits, (bottom of drivers door) and some bigger chips/ scratches, Block it, Spray it with the thickest bodyup/ primer i can, Wet sand and paint. There will be a few little scratches and stuff it it but, I just don't have time to fix them all.. Plus, It's kinda outlaw themed so it can't be perfect anyway. Just adds character. I need this sprayed so i can touch up the celica/ polish and refit it before summers through Quote
Jono.C Posted December 30, 2011 Author Report Posted December 30, 2011 Toy-yoda supplied me with the final missing brake i needed, Cheers dude! Drivers side is now KE70 Brakes. Less talk more pics. Deets Tomorrow. Quote
