On the way home from the meet in Launie, she mysteriously lost brakes!! It got gradually worse til the thing would barely stop!!

 

After all the Christmas bullshit, I finally managed to get a look in the rear drums, and behold... It broke some metal 'thingie' the cir-clips to one of the brake-shoes!!

 

So now I have to try and find another one... Hmmm anyone wrecking a KE55?? Need this clip thingie;)

never liked the 36 but always wanted one, :D but i never knew they could look so nice with a couple of things done to them :D now i just reckon there tops.

 

whats your reasoning behind doin up a wagon for the application you have intended for it??

Had a 36 with kinda-serious 3T, 5spd and LSD. Got it handling pretty sweet and stopping hard.... then I wrote it off!!

 

Initial reasoning behind a 36 was for carting my DJing stuff (then a mobile DJ), think I only used it for its purpose once!!

 

 

However, at the end of the day:

 

A 36 has all the attributes of a 35, with more versatility. The quirky looks grab attention, and they are seriously fun to drive hard (spec in the rain!!)

 

 

Jamie- A bloke I work with is a Hot-rodder from year back. He wants a 36 so he can paint it matt black, strip the bumpers, 4in chop on the roof, shave the door handles, chuck some 15 in m00n-discs on the wheels, and a little hemi v8 in the engine bay with an auto. 80's style- low in the front, high in the back!!

Pics 1 and 2 were the day it was regd.

 

Pic 3 is a pic of the ride height... 300kms+ like this, and she still did 120km/h and passed people!! :y:

 

Pics 4 and 5 are in current condition. Taken on the side of the highway on my move to hobart... Note the rear ride-height.

 

Although I should have left the van springs under the back til AFTER the move... She got the bumpstops a few times!!

UPDATE: FEB 06...

 

Been a little while, but Ive been flat out trying to get used to hobart and get ready for uni next week.

 

P:36 (GIR, as its unofficially dubbed) has been pretty good. The driving lights are all hooked up, only issue there is that they vibrate and bounce like a muthaphukka... Will have to build some steady bars for the bumper. We are also part-way thru the alarm/immobiliser install. Changed the front engine seal, as it was knackered, and now she doesn't leak a drop of oil anywhere!! NOICE :D

 

She does however have a busted gearbox. I was driving sensibly (for a change) and BANG no second gear. I drove it for a while skipping the use of 2nd gear, but now the other gears are clunking, even reverse... So I think its cactus!! Got another box from 1ggtelola, and that'll go in tomorrow or sometime soon.

 

Its also got a really, really, really annoyin rattle somewhere in the tray. Not sure what is the culprit, but anthing loose (oil bottle, flashlube, wheel brace etc) has all been taken out. The rattle is right at cruising frequency too, so driving anywhere this horrid f@$king rattle is present!! I'll get someone to crawl around in the tray at cruising speed, and work out where the rattle is... Then I'll fix it!!!

 

All seems to be well... I'd like some more supportive seats tho, as fanging it into corners with vinyl KE30 seats isn't very cool!!

 

Future involves:

 

Better seats,

RA40 front struts (with gas shocks)

Gemini carb conversion

(Not in that order..)

UPDATE:

 

April 29/30 2k6

 

Collected a deer early in the morning.

 

Damage is fairly extensive, but thankfully majority appears to be non-structural (ie rails don't look damaged).

 

However, if there is structural damage, it'll more than likely be 'good-night Nurse'... Lets hope not :P :)

 

 

Stay tuned for more pics and documantation of repair (maybe some structural enhancement too??)

Gonna strip off the busted/bent bits and take it to the bodyworks to see if rails are straight...

January '07

 

 

After 3 days of cutting, unpicking, welding, painting, and general stuffing around...

She's BACK!!

 

 

 

After stripping all the removable bits... This was how the radiator support looked

 

LH side was Aok... Nice and straight

 

RH was NOT!!

 

 

Cue my mate Richie... Brilliant mechanic, excellent panel-beater, and loves doing performance mods to cars. Races a little old BMW, which is a weapon!!

 

Chop Chop on the damaged radiator support.

 

After unpicking the spotwelds, we removed the damaged side of the radiator support.

 

Beating the inner panel back into submission... (Note the snatch strap pulling tension thru the panel. It made things ALOT easier to manipulate)

 

Bottoms of the panel were a little rusty, so we decided to weld the good bits of the panel together. Not easy to see now that its all sorted.

 

RH panel is all sorted.

 

Mmmm... 205 tyres are always a MUST for Corollas

All fitted... Needs a bit of paint.

 

Ahh.. there's the primer. Note how tidy the panel beating is on the inner guard.

 

All painted white...

... Then Black.

 

KE30 grille, painted matt black looks the goods!! The front guards need to be colour coded a bit... which will happen soon.

 

 

We also gave her a tune, added a relay to the starter motor, fresh engine oil and filter, new diff oil, armrests and fresh interior panels (Thanks Jamesrolla), better exhaust tip... and...
