my understanding is the "problem" with glass panels is that if you hit a pedestrian, the glass will tend to shatter into sharp bits. potentially "stabbing" someone, whilst hitting them.

 

its all a bit rediculous considering that a bull bar is legal, but bonnet pins arent. i know which i would rather be hit by.

What is the event exactly? Just give it a go, first time I went to QR i felt like that too although not as many pro looking car go there on practice nights.

You always get that feeling on your first track day, just go for it mate even if you get smashed itll be worth it for track time and the lols that will be had :yes:

Its all about having fun and getting experience..i took my stock ts astra to an Audi/Porsche driving day (invited by a member) .. i was coming last every time but the memories had were priceless.

AW11's need something like 4kg fronts and 9-10kg rears.

I have heard these kits offering 8kg front and 6kg rear. not good for MR

They 8kg in the front and 6kg in the rear. Might swap them around.

I know its a little stiff but will send them to king springs and get some new 1's made once I've had a couple of track days. I know I need to run around 4kg int the front , But with my fibre-glass front that will all change.

 

My biggest worry right now is that the aw11 is known to lock its brakes under heavy braking due to having no weight on the front wheels, with fibreglass front I'm taking even more weight off the front . so Battery relocation is going to happen and try and lighten the rear up as much as possilbe to kind of equalise the weight distribution.

battery re-location is a good move. 4kg front should be pretty spot on, if you are worried about the balance increasing the rears should help.

 

the car will lock its front brakes usually under heavy late breaking.

plan is; if you drive smooth, medium brake way before the corner to wipe off/ set entry speed, light brake to fine tune speed and then enter the corner while feeding on power you wont lock the fronts up.

that and running sticky tyres at the track and you shouldn't have any troubles.

 

I'm sure you have heard about the snap-oversteer most MR cars suffer from, let off power through a corner and you will be backwards from the tarmac.

 

as far as understeer from too little weight in the front try those trd alignment settings the rears toe setting will help with turn in.
