casey Posted August 20, 2006 Report Posted August 20, 2006 ok many carb ideas have pased and i was attracted to the twin carbs on e-bay my new idea is using the standard inlet manifold could i make an addapter to use two standard carbies? most of you ar thinking wtf??? but i have 2 standard carbs and little money at the moment so i think this should work, the only worry would be height but thats modable with the addapter height i have enclosed a quik sketch so you get what I'm on about thanks for reading, casey Quote
Redwarf Posted August 20, 2006 Report Posted August 20, 2006 Mate, it would be far easier to just wait for a correct priced factory manifold. With carbs they're about $250 ish for a set, or $50 for a manifold. Cutting and shutting and manufacturing can be a false economy, particularly when you can get the right part cheaply. R Quote
bruce Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 It would be interesting if you got them going. Might have to work out how the linkages go for the accelerator and choke :) Quote
casey Posted August 21, 2006 Author Report Posted August 21, 2006 (edited) nah i want a chalange I'm going for it any tips and pointers? Edited August 21, 2006 by willhav1kikassrolla Quote
Medicine_Man Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 My honest opinion you would be better off going a set of sidedrafts or just leave it with one carb.. It is a lot of dicking around for bugger all gain.. Quote
Des Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 if you still want to do it after every ones opinion i say go for it, try it, ya might come up with something good :) Quote
Dan Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 If you want a cheap carb alternative try the Gemini carb, they're almost a bolt on proposition, from memory they only need one small bit of filing, they bolt straight up apparently. They are a right pain in the ass to tune though, but thats coming from me and I've had bugger all tuning experience. A mate has one on his rolla... But yeah, I'm with everyone else. Just buy one, it would probably be easier just to buy the manifold and try doing your two standard carbs onto it than what you are proposing, but even then it will be overjetted etc.... moral of the story: buy a twin carb setup or run a single carb :) Dan. Dan Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 Go into paint and 'save-as' the picture as a .gif (bottom bar thingo), Rollaclub won't let you post up a bitmap image (standard paint unless you change it). Dan. Quote

Robert Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 What are you going to make it out of? Got any idea on dimensions? That may not clear the bonnet. IMO just get twin SUs or Webers. Cheers, Rob Quote
coln72 Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 If you have to make something, why not hang a bank of motorcycle carbs off the block. A guy had 4 on a civic and it was quick. Quote
