  1. :abuse: ill keep that in mind....i think the anger that i've been getting from doing this suspension and my strut bar (did i mention that a 27mm ae86 front bar wont fit in a ke70 without ae86 d-links - that was last nights head f$#k ) should keep me going! will go out and get a decent vice on the weekend, and see how it goes (either that or the swaybar). Thanks guys :lolcry:
  2. Good work mate! was that one of the ones that was for sale on here???
  3. Do it lesley, you know you wanna! :abuse: Full kit or just part of it? i considered the black rear bar when i had it, but i think suspension went in instead! Definately needs something at the back though, especially when you look at the side profile....all nice and low from the front, down the sides, then UH OH, a big step up to a standard rear bar
  4. Havent got it on yet mate  recently got new suspension so i've been trying to get that in (doing my head in..... :lolcry:). Hoping to get it in probably next week, but it'll probably need a kit through it too....will post up once she's on! :abuse:
  5. Was gonna suggest a sportivo bodykit but that'd be useless as you already have one  I had a sportivo a while back and was looking around but didnt find tooooo much (did see a nice rear bar on one though). Try somewhere like jetspeed..... Jetspeed Ae112 kit
  6. Thanks slapper! Will give it a whirl on the weekend and see if i can f$#k it up again  Feel free to post any more helpful hints guys! :abuse:
  7. Thanks for all the replies guys! Wasnt sure whether it "popped out" or screwed out, but its obvious from the replies that it screws out! I got a bit f#$ked off with it all and ended up putting it all back together to do for another day :D (even that was a pain in the ass as i tried to shortcut the job by leaving the brake hoses in tact ). I'll try each suggestion from the bottom up on the weekend when i go in for round 2! My ae112 sportivo & ae92 were a piece of pi$$ compared to this ke70....didnt even have to disconnect the brakes on those two :P Thanks for the input fellas! :D
  8. hey guys, currently trying to put my new shock absorbers into my KE70 corolla (front end). Only got replacement shocks, and have managed to take off everything else that i needed to to access the strut. Problem is removing the existing shock from the strut? How do ya do this? Tried unscrewing/wacking the hexagon (???) shape thing at the top of the strut, but no luck? Its really starting to f$#k me off, so any help would be appreciated! PS....have installed suspension in numerous cars before, but most involved replacement of WHOLE struts...... THanks guys!
  9. Nice! 10 inches on anything is nuts, let alone a corolla :D Any pics????
  10. How much do descent 5ks usually sell for
  11. Cool, thanks for that felix! Checked all the plates on the cars there and they were all 4k's or 3Y's i think (in the liteace's). Is it going to be possible to see the stamp on them (the engine) if they're still in the car? Mite go back out there sometime armed with this knowledge and have another look, and if no luck then i'll share where it is :P Looking like it'll be a mild worked 4k sticking around though (though i did dig up my old conversion question thread where nick suggested a 3tc out of a t18....... :D).
  12. No luck on my front with getting the 5k i've been talking about  Searched the yard but couldnt come up with anything. Alot of 4k's, but no 5ks from what we could see. Is there any EASY way to distinguish a 5k from a 4k without being able to see the stamp on the engine? :D Looks like the 4k might be staying in, with extractors, cam and new gaskets on the way i reckon.
  13. Yeah, somehow think you won that one donkey  Gather a bit of guard work would've had to be done, or did ya jack the thing off its tits? :D
  14. Yeah, probably a good point mate! I'm goin to lonsdale u-pull-it early tomorrow so i'll catch up on this tomorrow boys!
  15. I agree raven.....do it andrew, and i'll see how it looks and do mine too if it comes up alright
  16. Damn, that'd look sweet mate! Any idea when ya looking to get it done cause I'm hanging out to see a ke70 with 8.5's on it!
  17. Yeah, big change from the stockies thats for sure (handling as well - no more screeching going through round abouts @ 20km/h ;)). Wasnt really keen on hotwires but I'm happy i got em. Might paint the centres black though as discussed in the other thread, but i've got heaps of other stuff i need to get done to it with the suspension. I'm up north mate (surrey downs). Thanks for the offer :jamie: My mate is keen on rollas too (had a ke30, now has a GTR - hmmmm, slight upgrade), so he's gonna help me out, but we'll see how it goes.
  18. Ha, i'd love to get a gze into it mate, but i don't see that happening without a lotto win (damn buying a house ;)). Biggest I'm considering at the moment is a 5k that i might be looking at tomorrow, but that's a whole other matter, not appropriate for this thread! This thread is about PHAT ke70's, with hopefully mine included :jamie:
  19. Thanks Teddy! SHould look better when it drops an inch or so in a couple of weeks! :jamie: Thought about bolt on flares, but this guy in adelaide does all 4 corners for about $350 or so (of AE86dc). If i could get them for the right price i'd consider them though ;) Think the going price is like $250-$300/pair or something isnt it (or am i completely off the mark???). I'd love some 10's on the back, but the little 4k has enough trouble spinning the 7's as it is!
  20. Only JUST - talking probably a few mm or so. Nothing too ridiculous. But yeah, pretty sure they're just outside the guard. So thats most likely why i'll get em flared anyway! Then i can wack some spacers on them and have the same problem again ;)
  21. Would you classify this as sticking out past the guards? ;) Mite have to get a guy here in adelaide to flare them for me so its not so obvious! Also lowering it in a couple of weeks, so it'll probably need to be flared :jamie: Andrew, if ya don't go ridiculously silly with width or dump it HEAPS you shouldnt have a problem. If ya roll the rears especially, it might still rub, but it shouldnt cut into the tyre as you're taking the "sharp" edge away with the lip being rolled  That should be enough to keep ya out of trouble for the time being!
  22. Check out the link below. I think anything between 0 & +20 is fine going from the info below ;) KE70 offset thread
  23. S#!T Raven  Mine are 7" wide on my ke70 (pics on the topic where this one was split from), so maybe i should look into that. Andrew.......i've got 14x7 hotwires on my ke70. THe rears scraped quite heavily with just one light passenger in the back/something in the boot, but some homemade guard rolling mostly sorted it out. It still scrubs now a LITTLE BIT (with a couple of decent sized passengers in the back), but doesnt cut into the tyre like it used to :jamie: The front tyres only scrubbed against the plastic protector inside the guard when i had the wheel locked. I'm lowering mine shortly (got the gear in my room), so will let ya know how it goes. I'm thinking i might have to get em flared though  don't regret it though as i love the look of it (especially looking at the ass end!). Id say (from my experience), that without any guard work, you'd probably wanna go not much wider than a 6.5" rim ;)
  24. Cool, thanks felix! off to the wrecker on sunday with my mate, his dad's landcruiser and a shitload of tools :jamie: , so hopefully we bring home some goodies! If i get it i'll concentrate on just getting it in and seein how it goes before i do any internals like solid lifters and reground cams etc ;) Will try the 32/36 on it too and see how that goes, and if its no good i'll swap it with something. Thanks boys, and if ya got any more suggestions get em up here!
  25. I'll tell ya in a few weeks (or months) if i get this 5k on the weekend cause i've got a 32/36 weber sitting around that was gonna go on the 4k, but will go on the 5k if i get it. Like love_ke70 said though, the FAQ is very helpful though. I'll be building mine up with a mate, and will be using the FAQ as a pretty good guide of what to do. Maybe think about a solid lifter conversion also? (read about that on the FAQ's also.....). If I'm pulling this engine out on the weekend, would you recommend to just get the long engine, or get stuff like radiator, starter, dizzy etc too, or should the existing stuff off the 4k be alright? If its got a 5 speed mated up to it i'll definately be taking that! :jamie: What are the chances of the engine fitting in my ke70's boot? ;)
