Ah yes.........soooo many options!!! :ninja: will have to get photoshop/paint out and have a fiddle around. THe bigport blacktop could be an option though! :hmm: ON the topic of that, had a play on paint with a photo for the change of colour on the wheels, and ROUGHLY got this: Mick is having a play with a picture too, so i'll chuck that up later also. Reckon i'll do it though! :hmm:
-
yeah, that's what I'm leaning towards too i think :hmm: would have to have a pretty clean engine bay to pull off the last two, and thats one thing i definately don't have :ninja: More excited about the wheels though, as i reckon they'll come up pretty nice! :hmm:

Okay, bit of an update on the rolla. I smashed up my toe last weekend and as a result have been in a cast since last saturday, and thus havent done any work on the car, OR been able to drive it :hmm: So no progress made, but rubber has been purchased to try and quieten down the fuel pumps, so that will be the next thing done. Also, was gonna chuck up some of the other things I'm gonna look to do to it shortlyish: 1. Bit of work on the rims: From this_______________To this 2. T-18 chrome bumper conversion- looks hot IMO - bit of work apparently though 3. paint the rocker cover on the 4age as its slapped out and yuk. GOt a complete rocker cover and spark plug alley cover from a mate, so will just clean that one up (mates sandblaster) and give it a coat of paint. Tossing up what colour to go with on the cam covers though (spark plug alley colour will remain black)........ Option A - standard look Option B - shiny silver & black writing (with 16 valve in blue to keep with JDM) Option C - nice metallic blue colour Option D - red "wrinkle" paint So they're my thoughts about where to go next with this little car.........feel free to chuck up your thoughts/opinions/experiences! Thanks :ninja:

Nope.....cheap japanese s#it :P all fixed now, so i got no hard feelings against it :)

okay, bosch GD688 purchased an in place, and engine is now running again :( Got my first decent drive in it (from my mates to my place - 6km) and it goes pretty well. Great powerband, though the tacho isnt hooked up yet so not sure how high I'm taking it (not heaps high though). Just gotta quieten down the fuel gear in the back, and tidy everything up (ie mount ecu and a few other things) and i'll be good to go. Is holding all its fluid and staying cool so I'm pretty happy :P Will report more on it once its all setup properly and running consistently nice. Again, thanks heaps to all the boys that helped - paul, neil, mick, craig & others!

Yes, a rotor out of an ae82 4age will fit. Purchased and now in place and running :P Bosch Part number GD688 - $5.82

Hey guys, doin the 4age conversion and the dizzy was corroded to bits, and the f$#ken rotor snapped. I can get an ADM ae82 rotor, and was wondering if this would fit an JDM 4age rwd bigport dizzy??? Any quick answers would be appreciated :P

ITS ALIIIIIIVE Well, it was alive, then it wasnt, then it was again, and now it isnt :( Got her all wired up (thanks craig!!!!!), and we had some trouble getting her to fire. Eventually got it running (quite loud coming straight out the extractors!!!!!), but then went to wire the alternator and it wouldnt start after that. Checked timing, plugs etc, and then the dizzy........well, there was a heap of powder that came out when we took the cap off, and there was corrosion all through it :fap: Cleaned it out, but then the rotor snapped when putting it back on cause it was so f$#ken brittle. Glued it back up, wired the thermo, joined the exhaust and then got it all running again :P Went for a spin around the block......took it easy, then on a straight put a lil bit into it, and then all of a sudden power is gone, no spark, and we then proceeded to roll about 400m back to my mates house (lucky). The rotor we glued had shattered :S Tried one off a 4ac elec dizzy (thanks heaps Mick!!!!!! :)), but no joy. So it'll be off to the shops tomorrow to try and find one, and it should run again! WIll get some pics up shortly....and will have a review on the car tomorrow all things going well :P

I reckon they'll look pretty sweet on it leslie! they're similar to ones i was gonna get at one stage for it! Very good choice imo :P

Would've loved to have seen this about 1 week ago when we ripped mine out for my 4age conversion! We didnt take the dash pad off, but ended up taking the steering column and other bits and pieces out along the way. The last two bolts (of 11 bolts in total???) you mention were the biggest pain in the ass. The one on the right was slightly easier, but i think we used a rachet spanner to get it. The one on the left behind the duct couldnt be accessed, so after about 30 minutes of trying to get it, we got the hole saw out, drilled through the duct, took it out, replaced, and taped the duct :P Not knowing what we were doing, it took us about 2 hours to get it...... :S This should definately help people out, and probably become a sticky when its finished. Good work mate :(

No problems Craig! Managed to get the loom through the firewall yesterday, so it should all be ready to go! Got the shopping list completed, so hopefully we'll hear the beast come to life on saturday :P
-
Thanks Craig. Got the list on me so should be able to get all the s#!t required to sort it out. Remember, if ya wanna come up any night during the week to have a play you're more than welcome to :( Just can't wait to have this thing running! :)
-
Yeah, we sent a few messages back and forward last night, and he's gonna come suss it out tonight and let us know if we need anything so i can get the gear, and then hook her all up on saturday :( thanks for putting me onto him :)

Not quick enough for my liking mate :) Was tentatively hopeful that it'd be running by the end of the weekend, but just couldnt get it done (mainly cause of the clutch line and wiring). Plus we worked 6:00pm-1:10am friday, 9:30am-12:30am last night, and about 8 hours today :) Bearing in mind though, this is the first time any of us have done a 4age transplant, so learning alot along the way. The issues above will all be sorted out during the week hopefully and with any luck, it'll be running by mid arvo on saturday. Had alot of help too (thanks Mick - again :(), which is good. I'm really the "brains" behind it i guess, as i did all the research re parts etc, and my two mates have done alot of the work with me helping on the side (they're more mechanically minded), as well as my g/f's dad and mick. Much easier when ya got lots of support :no2:

Okay, bit of an update....... 4age is bolted in and all in place, as to is the gearbox, t18 diff, tailshaft etc etc......basically all that's left to do is wire the b!tch up, get the clutch line hooked up (and sourced....didnt come with the package, so will be phoning tomorrow :(), and finish the fuel system. Got the starter going and got it to crank over, so should fire once all wired up (well thats the plan :)). Also found out that the "aftermarket" clutch in it is a TRD 3-puck brass button clutch i think.....got trd stamped over everything, and even better, there's still heaps of meat on it :) Ran all new gaskets and seals etc through it while it was out, so should be nice and fresh when it fires up. Oh, and a big thanks to the lads helpin me out (you know who you are!!!) Anyway, here's some pics for the peeps: Bye Bye 4k.......enjoy Mick Inside the beast New and the old.....didnt realise how much bigger the t-18 brakes were :no2: Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd - 4age as it sits now - unwired, not running, but ready for more work :D That's it for now! Will keep the post updated, and also might chuck up some stuff re my experiences once done. Watch this space :)
-
Yeah, was appreciated mate! :( About to head off shortly to see if we can't get this f$#king wiring worked out. main problem is identifying what the ke70 loom wires were, but will have a squiz over the gregory's and go from there. will probably end up just sticking the diff etc in today instead! :)
-
Not sure mate.....had a look when it was sittin in the shed today and yesterday quickly but couldnt see anything stamped on them, so can't help ya out yet :no2: Update: 4k out, 4age & gearbox, pedal box etc bolted in, pretty much just driveline now (tailshaft and swap to t-series diff), fuel system (in place, just gotta run hoses & connect pumps and then wiring. me & my mate had a look at it tonight but it might be past our capabilities :) Will look again tomorrow and will see. Doubt it'll be finished this weekend, but should be one way or another by next weekend. will keep ya posted :) And thanks Raven for your help with the exhaust! If ya get bored......... :) Enjoy the 4k :(

Went and picked up the engine package today......was good as they'd cleaned it up a little, and its come up alright. Also quite happy as i found a few things that i wasnt expecting: 1. air conditioner compressor still attached :y: 2. chrome shift knob, Annnnnnnd 3. short shift kit! :y: So I'm pretty happy with that. Loom also appears to be mostly hooked up still, so that's gonna be a huge help! Will see how we go by the weekend, and will chuck up an update sometime soon :y:

Went and checked out the engine this morning (25/11) in the halfcut. Got a few pics etc so hopefully that'll help with the install, which will hopefully be next weekend. Had a chat to the guy who owns the place and he said when he was driving it in japan he had a bit of a run behind a n/a silvia, and the lil 16v kept with him, so hopefully its got a bit of go in it. Anyway, here's one of the pics i took this morning. Looks a bit weathered, so will have to clean up the intake and rocker cover a bit i think :y: Got confirmation today that the engine etc is ready to be picked up tomorrow, so i'll be heading down there tomorrow after work to grab it :y: Also picked up a fuel pump (fuelmiser VL pump - didnt have any bosch ones...), thermo fan switch, and k&n pod filter which was on sale (all at autobarn....20% off everything, and 50% off the filter :y: ). Thermo fan should be arriving shortly, and will pick up some efi hosing before friday also. Then should be set to go. Will try to get some pics up on the weekend. depends what goes wrong and when :y:
-
Thanks raven! Will drive even better with the 4age in it (hopefully )

Will do! hopefully be done by mid december all things going well! Will have lots of pics and hopefully some info on my "experience" with it :hmm:
-
:hmm: i went back and redid that one. must've uploaded the wrong one! thanks mate!
-
Yeah, was pretty grandma spec, which was good, but not no more! i'd like to hope i've made it look a bit better. It will definately go better in a few weeks when the 4age is in & running :hmm:
