  1. They aren't worried about it, aslong as its got a 25mm overlap, stitch welded both sides they are happy. It's gotta be made out of 1.2mm or thicker sheet, this is 1.2mm zinc cold rolled, Luke used 1.6 hot rolled ( a shit load harder to work with but stronger but 1.2mm is more than substantial ). I think QLD is a lot different with firewall mod's. Nothing wrong with cutting the wall, just make sure its stronger than original, especially with the 3-4 times power increase lol. It's coming along alright, I was going to pay somebody to do the wall but so overpriced ( for me )
  2. Had a go at bending up a tunnel.... turned out a treat. made a trolley to remove and hold the entire front end of car... will make clutch changes, and really any work on the engine easy. cut some more of the firewall and cleaned it up abit more.. Had a go at bending up some sheet for the firewall... I had to put a 50mm recess in for the ITB's unlike Luke did... Wish i put my motor forward, would've been a lot easier haha! oh well!!! will put a pic up later when it's all tack welded in and i've made the other part and trimmed the firewall and got the tunnel in!
  3. 4ac head, 4age pistons, 7a bottum end, t25 with a 2" su carby suck through turbo set up... mate built one for $600 and it makes 140kw at the wheels... All in a stock ke70. Look at all the 2t and 3t drag cars in puerto rico...
  4. EJ20 won't fit either... I tried lol. Had an EJ20 and a EJ25t :(
  5. The obsession is to have a car that will start every time, make 200hp at the wheels all day long stock and the fact it's a Toyota motor. The engines not to big, it fits perfectly... there is nothing more snug than a Beams in a ke1x... it is like they were meant to be. Who wants a 5k or 7k that's 30 years old and is bored, stroked and ported to the limit to make 100kw and crack heads blows to pieces etc... I don't see why you think the Beams is heavy... it's 6kg more than an SR20 and the gearbox is the same as the 6 speed autech box. I've worked it out, mine and Lukes car should be around 890-920kg. With 180kw at the wheel's it won't be mucking around. Nothing beats a Beams on quads... best NA Toyota Motor other than the 4a It was those two videos that made me decide on a Beams.. That's exactly right and that's why I'm struggling to find a good panelbeater/metal worker in Sydney that doesn't charge 4 grand for a firewall and tunnel..... I want it to look standard. Nearly nobody would know what they look like.. aslong as it isn't flat sheet metal, has a few curves, some bumps and visible spot welds people would think it's stock as a rock!
  6. Since playing with Datsun 1200's for the last 3 weeks I've noticed one thing.... They have the same diff as a KE10. I blew my Datsun diff, and i looked the KE10 diff's i had lying around and they were exactly the same.. Different stud pattern and tailshaft flange. Quoted from the Datsun Tech wiki " Apparently this is the same diff that was in AMI-built Corolla KE10, but those have a 4 x 110 wheel bolt pattern. " The Borgwarner Model 60 rear diff... So i'm thinking the people with Borg Warner diffs in their KE10's could potentially unbolt the axles out, and put Datsun 1200 Axles which are 4x114.3 and then put KE20 discs with 30 hubs and have a 4x114.3 conversion for probably around $50-200 depending on how cheap you get the parts.... Somebody should try it. I tried to get my Borgy axle out and it wouldn't come apart so gave up lol!
  7. Looks good.. Good to hear about the boot floor too. Heaps better to keep it all in original tank ;) I bet your kicking yourself about it.. Your radiator looks shit hot. I think i'm going to get another ke10 radiator panel and put it into my car and do the same set up as yours in the stock spot. mine looks way to hacked up and just looks like shit compared to yours.\ Trumpets are amazing....
  8. I'm doing mine pretty much the same as that just different wheels and no mirrors.
  9. Busy... I was busy with exams, done that about 2 weeks ago.. bought a 1200 sedan on the last day of exams.... got modifying to get it ready for my license returning........... haha 2 weeks and counting the days lol! Corolla is at a friends workshop getting tunnel, firewall and a few other things done.. Haven't spoken nor seen the car so assuming it's not done since he hasn't rang me !
  10. Just buy second hand Ae86 ones or visit a local suspension shop and find cambertops of something big ( evo 5/rx7/anything ) second hand, they should take $30 for them... Then just measure it up, drill some holes, cut it down... cheap cambertops. Fits anything too..... I've got evo 5 ones in my Ke10, Rx7's in my datto 1200 and i've got wrx ones in my girlfriend daihatsu cuore....
  11. The shocks aren't being bent. All it does, is change the angle at the bottum of the strut tube and the cast stub axle, I then rewelded it to give it extra strength. Then slid an SW20 KYB shock in and it works fine!
  12. Nope, if you go to about page 19 or 20 I have a picture of what I did... ended up bending them to get more neg camber.
  13. What's it like with the stock wheels? got any pictures...
  14. Looks good.... lol Dude you really have to get rid of that KE10 junk and just swap to a Ke20 cross member and 86 struts. You are wasting your time with the 10 stuff. If you don't believe me, Ask Luke ( DriftFreak )... it's heaps better. It doesn't look that low at all, What's the cross member height etc? Positive camber is the main reason to swap to 86 gear.
  15. Just get an 86 Quaife rack... Got a TRD one sitting on the shelf :) No need to shorten it... you will remember to not turn to much haha.
  16. It also depends how you mounted the motor. All I did for mounts on my crossmember was just chop the 4k mounts off and drill 2 holes and bolt a BA falcon engine mount in and it all bolted upto the engine. It virtually bolts in, my motors probably about 50mm backwards into the firewall compared to lukes I think ( i can only just get the coilpack out ) Makes the gearshift a pain, but with the LEEN kit it's not a problem, just have to do a little notch to the centre floor brace :) Glad you went with a 20 crossmember Luke!
  17. 80's hilux is the go... or just find some. I got a few spares. Will take some pics and put them up for sale :osama:
  18. Will look the same but won't go the same lol! :lovin: Man steelies are so easy to work with for engineering, can just chop and weld em up unlike alloy SSR's.. cost $1600 everytime you want to change a full set !!
  19. Hahaha your going to hurt me but I got a set of 14x7 and 14x8 steelies in gloss black for my 10 hahaha!
  20. been tinkering with daihatsu's lately... coilovers Very fun little car. ANYWAY.. got some pics of the Ke10 ITB adaptor There we go. I'll upload more pics later when its all 100% bolted together.
  21. In my opinion keeping the leaf springs keeps it simple! The video below is a good one to watch, TRD KP47 3K-R... most of us have probably seen it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_SkekfNdZ8 For my car ( say 200kw at the wheels oneday ) all I believe I will need is: These: Caltracs whatever you want to call them... Keep the main leaf of the spring pack to locate the diff ( same as TRD KP47 ) A Panhard rod, Watts linkage, Mumford link whatever you want to do to keep the diff inline. Now for spring rate and dampening adjustment.... well coilovers are the best thing for that! this is in a datto 1200 coupe... S13 KEI office coilovers shortened and put in the rear... I plan on making up a bracket off the back of my diff housing where the axles are because it looks messy haha. I will have to widen my shock towers, brace and strengthen them up. Engineer is fine with everything so far, he recomoneded 4 link but I can't run backseats with 4 link and ʞ©$ɟ having a 2 seater lol!
  22. So.... SSR mesh all round, or SSR mesh and SSR mk1's on rear? What should I do? Leaning towards SSR Mesh all round with white centres and polished lips.
  23. Hahahaha I just check the article, Saw an idiot with a dog.... realised it was myself haha! How embarrassing!! I believe the owners are from newcastle and some from Liverpool!!
  24. Sold a KE10 to Luke Sold an Ma61 to a fellow Ae86dc drift nut haha! The car at its set ride height... slight poke in the front end department purchased a cheaper alternative to quads than Celica_Ra45's nice cast TRD copys.
  25. Shit! You know the exhaust runs down the passenger side? Not much room for a diff in there Luke!!
