  1. Interesting, considering there's really not much to the front suspension at all. Vague steering is probably alignment. Positive camber, no idea. I don't think the strut tops will fit in any other way apart from how they are meant to be. But I could be wrong. Maybe the car is sitting too high? Dunno.
  2. Dyno: Those calipers in the pic aren't twin piston. It just has a big "fin" on the wheel side of the caliper, you can see it in the front-on picture.
  3. KE3x-5x are also rust buckets. I think it was kinda a small cheap japanese car thing at the time...
  4. Dyno: I think you're thinking of Corona calipers. Corolla Sumitumo's as far as I know are single piston. Trent: I don't think the pads are interchangeable. Calipers are designed a certain way for a reason. Modifying them and grinding them should always be done with care and thought.
  5. I agree on all points, don't know about the transmission though, the K box looks bigger than the one that came in the Datsun1200, but I don't know about strength. I think one BIG advantage to the Datsun is that Datsuns were very heavily involved in motorsport, so there's a lot more "know-how" and bolt on bits out there regarding datsuns, compared to Toyotas. Apart from the few Corollas that did dirt rallying and the handful that did circuit racing, Corollas in general don't appear to have been used for much more apart from going to the shops.
  6. LOL, it's a bit of an expensive christmas present really! Great novelty though, when I win the lottery it'll be the first thing I buy :jamie: For now I'll stick to my little dreams of a new car, and a bike, and new fish tank, and all the other things in my "I want" list. As the query goes: SELECT * INTO I_WANT FROM WORLD WHERE STATUS IN ('COOL', 'FUN', 'FUNKY', 'FUNNY', 'BLING') OR RESULT = 'FOOK IS COOL';

  8. LOL, at the moment I work for less money on the weekends than I do on the weekdays, but I'm just weird. If someone gave me $100 per hour I'd work weekends :jamie: But then, that might have something to do with me having a mortgage, and not having anything to do when I'm not at work...
  9. Burning rubber on Saturday and hoping the car doesn't overheat in the ridiculous heatwave expected, probably melting by myself in my room on Sunday. Or maybe I'll go to Bunnings and wander the isles in air conditioning. Or sit at Maccas and have a sundae. Or something. Was supposed to go to Movieworld with a friend, but that's fallen through the cracks because she'd rather keep her day free in case her other friend decides he's bored.
  10. Wouldn't you need longer axles then? Or a spacer between the axle and the drum?
  11. It started to go downhill before that even I recon, but yes it definately did a nosedive after Nick sold it :jamie:
  12. I suspect that "fin" is there to prevent any flex in the caliper, but that said without it it'll most definately still work, maybe not as well as it should but it'll work. Brake calipers aren't hard to kit. The only hard bit is trying to put the pistons back in with the new seal... That usually takes awhile.
  13. But imagine having a set of those, AND good tyres :jamie:
  14. No, I don't really like the shape of the MX5 all that much either (esp the older ones), but oh gawd they're an absolute joy to drive :jamie:
  15. I still prefer MX5 over MX6, but to each their own! :jamie:
  16. You resemble that comment, you mean :jamie: Well there you go. Pilot flying along and notices temp gauge rising a bit, so jettison the bonnet to cool down :(
  17. They're so cool, I wouldn't mind a set of 14x7's or 15x7's or something... Hell, even 14x6.5's would be rather cool :jamie:
  18. More "features" :jamie: At least it'll poof up in the drivers face first so that the driver gets stunned and closes his eyes, before the steering wheel takes him out :(
  19. That is so cute :jamie: I wonder why nobody ever seems to talk about them. I've been here 6 years, I've heard about kangaroos and wallabys and wombats and echidnas and platypuss's, but I've never heard of a quokka!
  20. 15x10, -25 offset... OH YEAH. From Hayashi Racing
  21. It's like how some drifters and stuff drive around without their bonnets...
  22. MX5's are awesome cars. If I had spare money to own a "weekend" car I'd get one :jamie:
  23. OT: I LUB MY BRAKES :jamie:
  24. I think the foot would be the last thing the crash test dummy would be thinking about by then... Does it even have a collapsable steering column? Sure doesn't look like it!
