  1. I've got a T3 one, and it's really quite good :P My only "complaint" is that it's very very "notchy". There is absolutely no slop in the gear change action though, it's all very positive. Oh, and another problem is because the distances are reduced so much, plus the fact that the spring action is quite strong and the shift action so notchy, sometimes it's hard to know what gear you're in, or going to. I've shifted from 1st to 4th on quite a few occasions...
  2. Heh, I thought about turning it into a clock, but the idea quickly got moved into the "too hard basket". As it was I didn't even bother cleaning it properly, a bit of metho and rag, spray spray, all good :P Maybe one day when I *really* have nothing better to do :)
  3. Haha, no, some other sick puppy drilled all the holes :P It came as a freebie the last time I bought a "set" of rims (that incidently didn't actually fit on my car :) )
  4. ... you clean up and paint some random car part and call it an "ornament" :P
  5. Mmmm, billies :)
  6. Driving to work today (geez, driving in traffic sucks) spotted a rather unusual KE70 front end. At first I thought maybe the owner modified the grille, or maybe it was retrofitted from a different car. But then looking at it closer, the bonnet also has matching creases (sort of like the way the KE55 bonnet matches the grille), never seen one of these before?
  7. Those wheels are just like the ones I have for sale :D 4x114.3, FWD offset, 16x7 :D
  8. mlaser: Umm, shouldn't be hard to put a mechanical handbrake in, you just need to get the right cable setup, and then bolt in an actual handbrake lever. If you are not mounting the cable one in the stock position, possibly look at the handbrake lever from like a Datsun 120Y or similar, as it has the cable coming out the back of it, instead of the bottom like a standard Corolla one. Just means you can put it anywhere without worrying about routing the cables properly... As for diff, no idea. Maybe it's stronger. Or maybe it's got a different ratio. Don't know.
  9. Woo hoo, all fixed, for a total price of $80 + $14 for parts :D Many thanks to Chris for all his assistance. Unfortunately I'm far too hopeless to do it myself this time :( Hehe, when I picked the car up from John, I asked him "so, was it hard to take the hub nut off?" "no, easy" "how did you take it off?" "I had to use my left hand, my right one was sore" (btw, he's right handed) :o Also, out of interest, he didn't take the outer CV off, instead he took the inner one off and slid the boot etc over the inside of the shaft... He recons this is easier than taking the spring clip off and on the outer CV join...
  10. Eeeeeeee, fun :o Ta to Haikal for taking the pic :D
  11. But traction control isn't anything new, heaps of (more expensive) new cars have it...
  12. Superchargers can be fun too :o
  13. Looks alright, kinda looks like a nicer Avalon. Knowing Toyota it'll probably be FWD, and be more of a direct competitor to the Mitsubishi 380 than it would be the Falcodore...
  14. Got all excited and set up to do it. Took wheel off, got split pin off center nut, and then dead end. Center net won't come off. Tried the breaker bar, no go. WD40, no go. Heated it up, no go. Spoke to Chris, he suggested an extension on the breaker bar, so gave that a go. One bent Sidchrome breaker bar later, nut is still stuck on. More WD40, more waiting around, more WD40. Went and bought an rattle gun (I've always wanted one), no go. More WD40, out came the bent breaker bar again, still no go. Put split pin back in, wheel back on, sending it to the workshop probably on Monday or Tuesday to get someone else to do it. I fail :P
  15. How do you get the spring clip back on? How do you clean the CV before putting the new grease on? Kero? Hmm... Sounds quite fook-doable, but hmm... Ooooh, tempted to make the drive... Will you be home tomorrow? I'll call you later... Thanks!
  16. Parts ordered, have arrived this morning, maybe picking it up tomorrow. Will buy a pair of circlip pliers while I'm at it and then have a look, hopefully it isn't too hard...
  17. Problem is I have no money at the moment. $14 for a CV boot kit. $60 if I give the shaft to them to do (labor + parts). $150 I think it was, if I hand them the keys. I wrote it all down, but as usual it's on one of the 763,003,235 pieces of paper on my table and I have no idea where it is anymore...
  18. Outer CV boot on my SV21 camry has shat itself, Haynes manual recons it's a "non-serviceable" part but searching around the net and asking around it seems that it's apparently a fairly straightforward replacement... Anyone have any tips? I've never taken apart the front end of the Camry before (apart from replacing the steering rack), so have no idea what to expect. It appears that I need to take the hub off, and I'm guessing there's a circlip or something that holds it all together?
  19. Ah cool. I'm originally from Melaka. Went to Kolej Tuanku Ja'afar in Mantin (near Seremban), then lived in Subang Jaya (SS12) for a year before coming to Australia :y:
  20. Alan: from Johor?
  21. Yup, get another mag that fits :y:
  22. Oh cool, you both got one of them crystal paperweight things :P

  25. Oh. Was going to be home tonight with nothing to do apart from catch up on things and sleep and photos and stuff, but looks like those plans just got canned, and now I'm busy tonight too. And tomorrow night (have to organise Come&Try motorkhana - don't forget your CTP extensions!), so yeah. Have no idea when I'll get onto those photos :harhar:
