  1. I am Fook. I'm from Malaysia, and I'm an international student here in Australia doing a Bachelor of IT (Hons). I'm hoping to get residency here in Australia, as blonde women are more fun (jk!). Seriously though, I like it here. I finish my honours degree in 18 days, and between now and then I have my thesis to finish, and 3 exams. It's getting rather exciting. I even had a big presentation today, that was a lot of fun... (can you sense the sarcasm?) Umm... I think I'm one of those people who like a lot of things, but nothing really in particular. For most of my life though, I've had something for cars, automobiles in general. I'm not a bike person. No one in my family is really into cars, my dad talks about them sometimes and knows a lot, but he doesn't do any mechanical work as such. When I was a kid I used to stand outside workshops and watch them fix cars the good old Malaysian way with several of the Special Service Tools (hammer, crowbar, things like that). It still amazes me that they still fix cars this way, I took my Satria GTi into the workshop when I was back in December to have an exhaust mount welded up as my mom somehow broke it and was driving around for a few months with the exhaust half falling off... And I just stood there with my jaw dropped at the way they fixed it... They proved that you can fix anything with a big hammer and an oxy torch. I've been driving since I was 12, but have had little mechanical experience with cars until the past 12 months or so. I've been especially into cars for the past 2 and a bit years or so, since I got my Lancer GSR. Before that, I was just your run-off-the-mill rice boy with an Excel with mags, lowered suspension and a loud exhaust (chrome tip and all). I've since learnt that there is a lot more to handling and power than making the car lower and the exhaust bigger. I own a 1981 KE55 Corolla. This is my 4th car in 4 years, I've owned 5 to date. I originally bought this as a runaround because I needed a car and I didn't have money because I wrote my GSR off at Willowbank; I intended to spend no money on it, and sell it come 12 months. I've since learnt to love the car, and have no plans to sell it anytime soon. It is a bit of a POS, it even broke down today (again), but it is cheap to run and keeps me entertained. Future plans for it include an LSD rear end, a 4AGE or 4AGZE, some suspension work, removal of rust, new seats, stuff like that. Only heaven knows if I'll ever get there. I'm not a die-hard-Corolla-only fan, I like many sorts of cars from Datto1200's to Z's to Skylines, WRX's and Evos, and most things in between. I'm also a fan of Beemers, Porsches, and some other Euro cars. I don't really care about who makes the car, if it is a good car, I'm there. When I'm not oogling a car, tinkering with a car or at uni, I work as a Systems Developer for QUT. I design, develop and maintain applications. I also spend a lot of my working time talking to people, sometimes just about nothing, and at other times actually about work. And then there is the odd coffee break or walk down the road for some fresh air... I can't juggle or do a backflip or anything flashy like that, although I've always wanted to. I can sort of play the guitar, but I can honestly say I really suck at it. I can also sort of play the electronic organ, the drums, the recorder and several other instruments, but like the guitar, I also suck at those. I listen to all sorts of music, although it mostly revolves around R&B, alternative and pop. The only music I don't really listen to is trash metal and all the other things that well.. I don't really consider music. I have done a bit of latin dancing, mostly salsa and merengue, and I also rock climb. In fact I have an indoor wall in my house. Umm... Yeah, that's me.
  2. Check this out: iNsAnE dRiFt POSse "We will kill you with our magic drift style."
  3. So? I don't have a sweet car and I'm here... :D Oh, like we're very technical around here... I really couldn't care less... I think it was only you who was super-pro-toyota. Oh, and maybe Jamie. Jamie has a thing against Datsuns...
  4. Grim: There's no reason to apologize to me. We may not agree on all (or at times any) level, but that's only human. I give you my opinion if I think differently, and you're welcome to give me yours. If we can't reach an understanding, then we have to live with our differences. We all do. I don't hate you, I just get annoyed at times with the way you handle some things, and your attitude towards some things. We are all easily excitable car enthusiasts, why else would we be here if we weren't? Good to hear your car project is going well, maybe you'd like to share the knowledge you've gained with us. You've done a good job with this website, keep it up. And FFS, if you're gonna ditch us all again and drop the site, at least tell us before hand and let us know what's happening. We're part of the "rollaclub family" after all, and we deserve to know. I'm sure I speak for more than myself when I say that. *edit* Hey grim - where's the chicks? Surely you have some chick friends who are into rollas.
  5. JapTastic: Very nice :D But yes I agree, would look better with a later model front, hell even with a twin headlight front :D I think I'm a fan of the twin headlights, what do you think? :)
  6. RE PF: FYI you weren't classified a dickhead cause you crashed your car. Everyone crashes their car sometime. You were laughed at because you were (or appeared to be anyway) boasting about how you were so cool cause you were drifting down the mountain and lost it and now you have a drift monkey sticker. You know as well as I do what the PF people are like in regards to "hooning", maybe it's cause a lot of them come from a motorsports background, I don't know. None of them condone (or at least they say they don't) drifting etc on public roads, and the ones who do generally don't stay very long. I went for a mountain run with them twice, first time I blew a tire and spun and nearly killed myself, 2nd time I overheated my brakes big time and retired early. GSRDave lost it and went into the guard rail, you don't see either of us being labeled anything. Sure they have a laugh or two, and then it's all over. George gets paid out all the time, but why he isn't labeled a dickhead? I don't know. And I don't really care. True, if I was in my shoes and seen George on the side of the road I probably would have laughed too. But that's about all I would have done. Maybe I'm soft, but that's just me. And yes, I created a thread on my forum, after all it is my webpage, it is focused on me, and it is a place for me to say what I think. If you had a webpage (you probably do) and you said that my webpage sucked, I really wouldn't care. Rollaclub is a forum about Toyotas, lots of people call it "home", lots of people come here expecting info about Toyotas, or at least cars. If you start a thread here saying my webpage sucks, I'd probably get a little bit upset. I'm sure you'd feel the same if I went to PF or Toymods or something and said that RollaClub sucks. You would notice I have not done so. But, put all that aside. We're all grown up here, we all have our own thoughts and feelings, and we're all reserved the right to that. If you want to have a fit about me, do it in your own personal space, or call me to tell me. This is a car forum, let's talk about cars... Now, back to the thread. Chicks who like cars are cool. We should have more of them. :D
  7. Grim: I know what I have on my page, you don't need to point it out to me. In regards what is there, I wrote it in response to the Turbo xK motor thread, and the way with any sort of hint of anything everyone seemed to blow up. Go back, and read it again, in fact, while you're at it go and look at ALL my threads and see where I have "come in just to provoke". Then get back to me. Don't accuse me of doing something I did not do. And why I was annoyed at the forums? Was because you took it down without telling anyone what was happening (how responsible and mature of you as a Systems Admin), and put up a photo of SuperJamie instead. After which, Jamie called you asking what was going on, and you told him you'd take it down the next day, but as expected, it stayed up there for many more days. And as for the last quote, in case anyone else is wondering what that was about, that was what I wrote to Grimwolge after he decided to try to be a dickhead on another forum that I frequent - one he had said ages ago that he didn't like, and that he would never go back to - just like Grim to walk back on his words. The thread is here and among the things he said: Think whatever you want. If I really thought Rollaclub was shit, I wouldn't even bother coming here to provoke. I have better things to do, unlike Grimwolge I am not a keyboard warrior. Maybe here would be a good place to quote Grimwolge as the keyboard warrior: Like Jamie says: DO YOUR RESEARCH. So go on, Grim. Go and be a good boy and go and find me a thread that I wrote that was only here to provoke.
  8. Just for the record, no I don't have anything against Rollaclub. So no I haven't been going around saying "Rollaclub is shit". I personally think we have some pretty cool people here, although I do think there is a lack of knowledgebase and "life", if compared to some other forums. That said, Rollaclub is only new, and has been on and offline here and there. A lot of people know about Rollaclub, as can be seen by our large list of members in the old forums. Who knows why we had so many members, but nobody ever posted, and hell most of the people stopped even visiting? I can only guess. But yes, I can openly admit that there are some things about Grimwolge that don't "flow with me", and you could say I have "beef" with him. In fact I can say that a lot of things about him really annoy me, and I find him immature at best. But that is just my personal opinion, so you're welcome to think differently. If you read my posts, you should be able to tell that I try not to let my "beef" with Grimwolge get to me and I try to be genuinely nice. What Jamie says, is what Jamie says, don't pin it on me. And about the owners of Rollie knowing about Rollaclub, I don't know if they do as I've never mentioned it to them, and they have never asked me about it, but they have seen the sticker that is (still) on my car. Whether they have visited the place or not, I don't know. So there it is, that is where I am coming from.
  9. lol :D You'd be surprised... The fronty's are always the quickest around the pan anyway :D
  10. Well, if it's black smoke, it's probably oil. Generally with a turbo car if you get this it's usually your turbo spewing oil.
  11. I'd be in for an all day LVMA/skidpan.
  12. Okay, it's official. Grimwolge LOVES the color pink. And I think it tells us all a bit about him.
  13. Yeah... the new owners are cool. Rollie is very cool. Even with a blown exhaust gasket and dodgy brakes, it was keeping up with the WRX's and Skylines at QR. The ones that did manage to catch up and pass, only managed to at the end of the straight where the 4AG ran out of puff. And that was with the chick driving :D Pinky on the other hand... LOL!
  14. I recon, you should sell your KE70 Nick. It doesn't suit you. You should go get yourself the closest thing there is to that coupe: a T18. And T18's come with T series engine, so a 3TGTEU is only a bolt in away :D
  15. Haha, here we go:
  16. Blue. Pale baby blue and pink, just like Rollie (the KE30 above) used to be... Nice choice. If I remember I'll have to get you an STi badge for your car. It will go on very nicely.
  17. Nick, I found you a page I think you will like :D KE70's galore! I actually think the coupe looks cool.
  18. Oh no... I hope that image has died a very slow and painful death. Then again, you seem to have this major obsession with the color pink. Are you trying to tell us something Grim? :D
  19. Ah, another "rust prevention" session for Pinky :) Jamie, you must come :D Then we can play grand dorifto like in LFS :D *edit* Grim, have you contacted Sideline? The costs have gone up a little :)
  20. Justin: They aren't gay colors, they are chick colors. The interior got the same treatment. Needless to say, it was a chick who owned the car, so I don't see it as being a bad thing. That's not to say I actually LIKED the pink and blues, but I'm not a chick. Does the new owner know of Rollaclub? I know they know of its existance (sticker that was on my car). Whether they want to have anything to do with Rollaclub or not I have no idea. But if it makes you feel any better, they aren't on the net much and don't even really use any of the other Toyota forums.
  21. I'd probably be keen. But I'm not organising it this time, I had enough hell organising the last one when virtually everyone pulled out in the last day or two. I'm glad Ben showed :D
  22. FYI that car now belongs to a friend of mine. And yes, the engine has been repainted.
  23. Quoting David Nicholson, owner of the white 600bhp Landcruiser that consistantly wipes out WRX's and other cars at rallies etc: "You don't need a 600bhp Landcruiser to compete in one of the many 'Tarmac Rallies' run in Australia. All you need is a good-handling, relatively quick streetcar... no roll-cage - just a fire extinguisher, secondary bonnet-restraint & a 1st aid kit... and of course, an L2S CAMS Licence. A great (& inexpensive) entry-point would be The Fulcrum Suspension Coastal Challenge - or the Pirelli Leyburn. Both these events have a great mixture of Speed Events and Simple (to most...) navigation." But yes, anyways... The ROQ is on in Caloundra that weekend too, what most of the people I know are doing is doing the Coastal Challenge Saturday, staying overnight and going into the forest Sunday to watch the rally cars. I don't think I'll be staying, I've got too many exams etc to prepare for... Nick, grow up.
  24. I wasn't attacking your car, I was simply suggesting that you use it to enter Coastal Classic. After all, your KE70 runs a lot better than nick's KE70 at the moment... But then again, that's not hard if his KE70 looks the way it looks in the avatar... Your chances of messing up your car at coastal is about as high as you make it to be - but even then it's not high. Most of it is run on public roads, so it's just like driving to the shops. There are only 3 speed events, and even then it's up to you how hard you want to drive. It'll be fun. Honest!
  25. Okay, maybe I should clarify that this is a road rally ie it's on sealed roads (at least for the most part). Similar to Targa, only smaller. I still recon Grim and Justin should enter the yellow KE70 with lotsa red rollaclub stickers, it'd be fun. If you want to run targa (I do), you'll have to join a few of these and get some experience first, and hopefully some sponsorship. Targa Tazzy is amazingly expensive, hell even Targa NZ including cost of shipping car is cheaper. But nothing quite compares to Targa Tazzy tho.
