I bought it approximately a month ago, have just been working on it in the evenings after work on random days (have other things to do with my life too surprisingly). Body is now derusted, deholed and smoothed down, boot should be finished sometime tomorrow morning, then start on the front guards. Once that's finished, just a matter of seam welding (if I decide to do it), and putting engine mounts in, and it's ready to go to a painters (when I find someone who's willing to paint it - everyone I know who can paint doesn't want to, looks like I might have to send it to a shop and pay the big dollars...)

Japtastic: Scary thing is I'm actually considering a front brake conversion that would involve a 5 stud conversion... Now I just have to find a diff to suit! I thought of the old Torana at first (it's the right length, and LSD is available though not that common) but then discovered ratios are wrong, and stud pattern, while being 5 stud, is also wrong. Oh well. Anyone know any other car with a 5 stud HQ onwards pattern that isn't very wide?

Interesting colors... Is it just me or is the finish not quite even all over? Maybe it's just the photos or the lighting, I think it'd be hard to judge without actually seeing the car :P

I think there is a place at Morningside that rents out spray booths, you just need to turn up with a spray gun, paint and car. Not 100% sure though. The new car will need paint in a few weeks, but I might get it professionally done maybe... Depends, has your hubby painted any other cars that I can see? I'd like the new car to get a good coat of paint, not just a jam job...

Grim: If you feel like organising a go-karting session, be my guest :P You seem to be a lot more successful at organising things than I am... Details: Ipswitch Kart Hire (07 54673147) Cost: $55 for 45 minutes, $50 if you have 12 people or more (AFAIK). I think it is $5 or $10 for licence, I don't remember. $10 deposit per person, they take your credit card number so that if you don't show they charge you. They have 12 karts, so if you have more than 12 people AFAIK they run 2 sessions and split the lot into two. More fun, you can go out with different people each time or you can have a "slow" group and a "fast" group. I don't think there is a max number of drivers. Clause 1: This seems to be a new one, you can't book an evening session if you have less than 12 people. I find this rather silly, they mustn't be doing too well. This is the main reason I cancelled the 14th, I can't get 12. Overalls, helmet, gloves provided, you have to wear closed shoes. If you have your own stuff, bring it. Date that suits me: I don't know, pick a date and time out of the air and I'll tell you if I'm free :)

Japtastic: I have no idea, I would be assuming it went into his TA22 Celica. What are they doing with that 4AG? I can see a very very big turbo, and a very very big wastegate... And a surge tank, can't really make out anything else...

My engine came with hardened valve seats, and I have been running BP Ultimate for the past year with zero problems :P

As am I, and I'm sure just about everyone else on this forum. But what's the point of owning a car if you're not going to *drive* it? At least we own Corollas, that are vaguely reliable, and cheap to fix :P And if you break something majorly (like I did my Lancer), it isn't THAT much of a loss. Not that you'll do that, cause 4K Corollas are too slow to really get you in any trouble anyway...

I got from about 80km/h to about 100km/h on the 570 meters or so down the front straight of QR. I doubt I'd go very fast on a 1/4...
