  1. It's like sand blasting, except they use little glass beads. It's gentler on the alloy (as alloy is fairly soft). Read this thread, it might be of interest to you: 3 piece rim respray
  2. Teddy: Being a one-size-fits-all they won't be perfect, but they should fit. They should have a size smaller than those if I'm not mistaken. Hell I've got Supercheap (well actually Repco, but they also have the same ones at Supercheap) seat covers in Pinky, and had a pair in the Lancer, and in the Excel, and in the Colt... If you can't find a set for a KE70 I'd be well surprised...
  3. Round 1 of the 2004 Northern Rivers Sporting Car Club Series 8th Feb 2004, $15 per person, Urbanville showgrounds. Sup regs Entry Form *edit* fixed date
  4. You REALLY should be able to find seat covers to fit your car unless it has some weird seats in it. Are you sure NONE of them at Supercheap fit? In what way did they not fit? Too big? Too small?
  5. No, don't get them sandblasted, alloy does not like getting sandblasted at all and you'll have a very hard time trying to polish them afterwards. Get them glass bead blasted, MUCH MUCH better... *edit* depending on how bad they are, if they are scratched get some sandpaper of different grades (say 400, 800, 1000, 1500) and go over the mags with them, and then over with polish again. That's what I did with my jellybeans and I wasn't even very through with them at all. If it's just dirt get some turpentine or something, gets most things off.
  6. Nah, why go a dremel when you can just get a proper air-powered die grinder? :) After watching Rob go through my gearbox crossmember, I'm sold :D
  7. Junior: You're building a car for a mate? I want friends like you too :D :) :) And that car is SO COOL, we'll have to go for a bit of an oldrolla cruise when mine is done too :D
  8. I've got one of these too, and yes don't bother with them, they're shit. Good for small jobs here and there but they do overheat and they have no torque which makes it hard to do anything because it loses speed the moment you start doing anything... I've even given up trying to polish anything with it... Also make sure that flex extension is sort of straight, if it is kinked in anyway it heats up REAL quick!
  9. Ben: Can't possibly have been more difficult than mine :D
  10. Teddy: Yes you can come and take photos, watch, lie on the grass, whatever really :D
  11. blown_5k: gotta love the punctuation :D *poke poke* :)
  12. Ben: might have something to do with rack&pinion Corolla. There was a discussion about this on the oldrollas list. Grim & Medicine_Man: Looking very pretty :D
  13. Oh don't worry you'll spin your wheels. Even Pinky spins it's wheels. It's mainly the thromping on the accelerator and throwing the car around, you're bound to lift a wheel or two :D And no, you don't have to spin your wheels, you'll probably be quicker if you don't :)
  14. Teddy: I'd say just throw up a photo. The more the merrier, even if we end up with too many (more than 12) we can always use it for something anyway.
  15. Yes Nick, that would be useful. I'm hoping that Pinky (if we run Pinky) will pass scrutineering too, the rust is a bit of an issue.
  16. Supplementary Regulations Entry Form Nick: Is there place on Rollaclub that I can upload stuff like this? I'm using my work fileshare at the moment, and the files will only be up for the next 14 days.
  17. Motorkhana is a race, very small circuit made of markers (like cones). All 1st , reverse and a tiny bit of 2nd gear (for some people anyway) stuff, mainly to test your car control, judgement, braking, acceleration, that sort of stuff. A lot of tyre spinning, a lot of handbrake turns, generally a bucket load of fun. Very cheap to run in (I forget the cost now, it's something like $25 for the day) a lot of fun and a great way to get into motorsport.
  18. It is a touring road event. All navigation, no speed events. About 220km of all bitumen, good driving roads. *edit* yes, it is a "race" - or I should probably say a competition? As in, there are winners, there are trophys. And yes, normal road rules apply. That doesn't necessarily mean you have to follow them, but if you're caught out it's your own problem.
  19. Wow, talk about pulling up old threads :D I think this one is in June? Or July? Or something like that.
  20. Grim: Did you still need that rebuild kit? I still have it if you want.

  22. You can get your CAMS licence in a day. All you need is the slip of paper that says you've applied and paid. I've heard rumours they've got a new system to get your licence (as in the proper licence) to you in about a week too, but don't know. Why don't you just apply for one now? Doesn't hurt to get one earlier... And haha, this is a motorkhana, who needs shocks? :D
  23. Yes, your car will be scrutineered. There isn't really much to it, just a general safety check to make sure you're not going to be dropping oil everywhere or catching fire or something bad like that and that your steering, brakes and tyres are okay. I'm sure the finer details as to what is scrutineered is somewhere in the CAMS manual, but I haven't gotten that far yet. You will need a CAMS Level 2 licence as well. When the sup regs come out I'll post up more.
  24. Righty-o, have the preliminary dates for the Queensland Motorkhana Series, none of these are set in stone but should be a good indication nonetheless. QMS 1 - February 29 (Qld Raceway) QMS 2 - April 4 (Qld Raceway) QMS 3 - May 2 (Qld Raceway) QMS 4 - June 20 (Gold Coast) QMS 5 - August (not sure date or venue, hosted by Northern Rivers Car Club) QMS 6 - October 17 (Qld Raceway) QMS 7 - November 7 (Qld Raceway) QMS 8 - December 12 (Qld Raceway) QMS 6 (Oct 17) will be held in conjunction with the Queensland Motorkhana Championship and possibly Interclub Challenge, what this means is that you'll compete in the motorkhana and get 2 sets of results - one with handicaps for the QMS, and one without for the QMC. Also, the Australian Motorkhana Championships (Nationals) will be held on November 13/14th weekend in Sydney for anyone interested. If no one objects I will put these in the Calendar too. I also have the 2004 Queensland Calendar of Proposed Events (dated 11/12/2003), these are only draft and there are a SHITELOAD of events so I'm not going to post all of them up but if anyone is interested in a certain month or event let me know. *edit* QMS2 moved dates
  25. And here is one for Rob if he/we don't get another one done :D (again I have the higher res version as well at http://images5.fotki.com/v55/free/c4551/1/...9060009-or.jpg)
