  1. Umm, you don't need a fire extinguisher for motorkhana. Or suspension. Or a tuned engine. Or race seats. Or a helmet. Or anything really, apart from a car that will sort of get you from A to B, and some money for the day. In fact, I think the only monies you need are: $25 for entry fees (if you book in before 26th) $20 for Level 1 CAMS licence $40 for club membership All this I think you can get ON THE DAY. You can upgrade your Level 1 licence to a Level 2S I think within 21 days or something, I've forgotten. Club membership is payable once a year. $25 for a day of motorkhana is bloody cheap. So stop trying to "upgrade" your car or "make it handle" or "go harder" and come out and play :|
  2. 7 days to go... :|
  3. Oh wow, that IS very nice... I approve :|
  4. Mmm, they're really fun when you turn the traction control off, but even when you do that when you start to loose traction it beeps at you... So there we were, flying around the corners, tail just slightly slipping out, the whole cabin going "bing bing bing bing" and the big warning light coming on the dashboard :| Hahahahaa, it was fun :)

I think... Maybe it was $10 more. Either that or $5 more. In any case, not more than $10. I don't know if I still have my licence, I'll have to look for it... Is it really only 14 sleeps to go? Geez... Are any of the rally buffs coming (redwarf and duckgirl)? :) *edit* You know what? It's weird. I've been without a car or anything for more than 24 hours now, and I haven't even thought about cars, or missed driving a car, or looking at a car, or anything... I have better things on my mind :|
  6. Darlington park is pretty cool, I had the priviledge of hooning around it in several Lexus's - IS300, LS430, ES430 :|
  7. Congrats.
  8. Heh... New valve springs, new timing belt, new valve stem seals, new rings, why don't I get a new car with that hey? And fries while I'm at it :) I've heard Nick's 4K, and yes it does sound rather lumpy at idle :|
  9. Nah you can get cheapo versions (CSA, BSA etc). Give a wheel shop a visit, pick it out of the catalog and get a proper quote.
  10. Yargh. Rice. Steps for making Rice: 1) Go to Supercheap (as nick has recommended) 2) Buy lights 3) Find wires for door switch 4) tap into wires and wire up lights
  11. I know not everyone on this forum reads the board daily, and a "good luck" isn't as much fun after the event, I just wanted to wish Rob and Mel a big Good Luck for KCF 1 this weekend :D
  12. With 205 you'd be wanting 205/50, with 215 you'd be wanting 215/45. Personally I recon 8" rims on a Corolla is maybe a little silly unless you're wanting to build a drag car, cause 8" rims call for big rubber, and big rubber on a little car can be a bit difficult.
  13. If you do find a set of 15" rims with no tyres, I know someone who is trying to sell a set of tyres to fit for reasonably cheap, I think they are 195/50R15 or something like that. Unfortunately he his p*ssing me off to no end at the moment by selling me a dodgy set of rims and not wanting to give me my money back, so yes, until he does I won't give you his details lest you end up with a dodgy deal too :D

  16. ... and you are not a dodgy person? :D

Teddy: before I can fully confirm - what time exactly is it, and how much is it?
  18. Yes he is, yes he is indeed :D Had some cooling issues though...
  19. That's very pretty. Good idea with the crossmember tabs too (putting masking tape? cardboard?) under them so you don't scratch the paint like me :D
  20. We didn't have any timed runs, so I don't know. But every session I was catching up to the other person so I think I was doing okay. I'd probably be comfortable to say that I was one of the quicker cars on the pan, probably didn't look half as good as some of the rest (who were pulling massive huge drifts and linking ALL the corners etc), but definately wasn't the fastest out there. There was an R32 GTR that was just flying, even with heaps of diesel on the pan...
  21. Very nice. Those struts look sooooo long... Probably cause mine are larger diameter and shorter stroke... It'd be interesting to see how long the paint on the spring holds out - did you end up adding that "plasticiser" or whatever it is to make the paint more flexible?
  22. I'll have to think about it. Possibly.
  23. Had to "answer the call of duty" yesterday and fill in a last minute vacancy at the Driftking Motorsports skidpan session yesterday, geez it was a blast :D And I'm sure Pinky is happier now with another coat of "anti-rust diesel coating" :D Hadn't been in awhile, and wow did it show! First session out was absolutely attrocious, I must've spun at least once every lap I did... But got the hang of it again soon enough, by the end of it could quite consistantly link the two big-radius corners (after the back straight, going clockwise), something I've never been able to do before... Strange considering Pinky is running a fair bit less power compared to last time... Could also reasonably link the two small radius corners (going counter-clockwise), and even position the car in the correctly to take on the S-bend at full speed (which meant I hit the last corner much faster than ever before, that was tricky, ended up the hill a few times  As expected (being Driftking Motorsports) there were the dohrifto Sprinter boys out there, they reasonably well and truly annoyed the instructors with their "synchronised drifting" and "arms out the window" etc, there goes "safety first" out the window. And to top if off one of them broke at the end of the night (spring mount on the diff broke or something) so they had to stay back late to wait for him to fix it... Anyways, here are some pics (I didn't take many, the light was attrocious):
  24. I'm not sure if any of you have seen this site before, it's a site I've been visiting off an on for the past 6 months or so... Is an awesome project, sometimes gives me inspiration in building Hal :D Kimini 2.2 One bit that NEVER fails to amaze me is in the 2003 build page - his extractors :D WOW. And, I really like the words of inspiration he has on the pre-2003 page...
