WELL! EVERYBODY said they wanted to come out and play, but I guess the day is now over, and only Rob and I showed up (and Mel later on sans car to play in)... (sorry, long story, it's a bit of a sensitive subject for me at the moment) If it matters at all, QMS2 is April 4th, Qld Raceway.

Just got back from Willowbank, haven't really had a chance to sit down yet, haven't downloaded photos or really looked at the score sheet, but I just had to get this out of my system: :| IS A LEGEND!!! :)

I think we all need to return back to the fact that Teddy would like to get this done for under $3K. And no, Teddy - putting a bigger fuel tank in your car is not going to make it legal to put a bigger engine in. It takes a lot more than that. Basically the engine is regarded as "too big" because your car is too light. Making your car heavier (by means of fuel tank or whatever) will also require the necessary body/chassis strengthening etc to go with it, not to mention the enormous brake upgrades required to handle the power. Even if you do manage to somehow get it engineered and roadworthied through a less than responsible engineer, I don't think you'd want to drive it until you signed a will and wrote a goodbye letter to everyone - it'll be a death trap.

Uh Oh, this time I'm going AAAALLLL the way back to the end of the line aren't I? :) I hear a certain KE15 owned by Mr Doug will also be there, and he's just gotten new swaybars and apparently it's completely transformed his car, and he was quicker than me last time too! I gotta learn to how paddle faster :laff:

If you want a 4AG(Z)E just keep an eye out on forums like Toymods or Twincam16, or you can try giving Anthony Kellam a call.

Well Teddy, before you start to panic, $3K will get a 4AGZE in your car if you're prepared to do a fair bit of work yourself (or have mates who will). It's just how well it will be done that's the question. Realistically, you should be able to get your engine and gearbox for $1K or less. Say "other bits" like wires, crossmember, engineering, exhaust - another $1K. That still leaves you with $1K to play with and make the install "better". Because you're starting from a KE70, it should be a bit easier (and cheaper) than what I've had to do because you can use AE71 bits and AE86 bits instead of having to fabricate everything from scratch.

If you want everything done properly I think your only option for that budget would be a 4AGE or 4AGZE. By the time you get the engine and related bits to make it fit, give everything a freshen up, maybe even some mild work etc, you'd already be looking at more than $1000. Factor in another $1000 for exhaust, wiring and other bits that actually connect to the engine, and easily another $1000 for maybe a different diff and LSD or something. You could blow $3000 away really quickly, I know I've blown away almost $8K on my 4AGE KE35 without even blinking an eye, and I'm not even finished yet.

Ask them how you can do it without a credit card. If you REALLY get in a pinch I might be able to help you out with that, but I would rather not. Book the session, and I'll collect the deposits from my friends and pass them on to you.

Oh darn it, stop changing dates! (whinge whinge) I'm free on the 8th, I have no idea about my friends, but they were rather keen for the 20th/21st. It's a bit soon to try to pull up 12 people I recon, in fact we have 1 week to find like 9 people to fill the spots. I recon just wait for the 20th, it's not all that long away...

Umm, I believe the 5th of March is out? That's the original date we had it. I'm out this weekend, I'm out weekend 12th-14th March, I'm out weekend 26th-28th.

Too many to mention. One that does come to mind is me driving down Ipswitch Road, 2 lane road, WRX in the left lane beside me. I'm slightly behind him, the front of my car probably about parallel to his back door. There's a car parked in the left lane (as there always seems to be), so I take it a bit cautiously, expecting the guy in the WRX to slow down and come in behind me or something like that. He checks his mirrors, sees me, looks me straight in the eye and swerves across into my lane. I jump on the brakes and swerve right partially into the oncoming traffic lane, I was so sure he was going to hit me anyway, he mustave missed the front of my car by less than an inch. Meanwhile I can see him and his mates laughing and then they all look back at me and give me the finger... I was soooo tempted to just keep my foot on the accelerator - after all it would have been his fault and the damage to his car would have been worth a shiteload more... But reflexes are reflexes and I dodged him. --- Hmm, let's see - another one from my teenage angst years in Malaysia. Me and my housemate are driving around town, looking for a parking space. We're late, I know it, but she keeps reminding me every 2 seconds anyway. Finally we find a spot about 5 blocks away, quickly park the car and start walking. We're crossing this road, there's no one on the road apart from a car coming out of the carpark. I'm almost certain he sees us (considering we walked in front of his car about 30 seconds ago), and he's stopped so we start to cross. All of a sudden behind me I hear the engine rev up and he comes out at us, I'm walking a little behind my friend and I run at her, grab her and throw both of us at the sidewalk, this guy was so close I could feel the wind pass my heels. Hit the sidewalk hard, get up and give him the finger (by this stage I was really pissed off). Guy slams on the brakes and gets out of the car with a baseball bat. I'm just about on my limit of pissed-off-ness, so I walk towards this guy and flick out both my butterfly knives. The guy looks around, notices that people at the club across the road are starting to take interest, swears at me and gets back in the car and drives off. Needless to say I wasn't very good company for most of the rest of the night... Hmm, can't think of anymore... --- :| :) I'm a happy Fook :laff: :laff:

So it's 7pm 5th March yes? 45 minute session, $50? I'll try to get another friend from work...

... and look where I am now :| *edit* Just for anyone interested, this is what I'll be running: Pinky. KE55 with 4KC, estimated running < 30hp at the wheels and dropping on a daily basis. Running oil that is about as thick as it gets and it STILL blows smoke... Not remarkably reliable, in fact broke down (again) yesterday. Open diff, $20 tyres on the back with about 2% thread, $80 tyres on the front with about 50% thread. Rear shocks in dire need for replacement, super-dodgy Monroe Gas. Front shocks not all that flash anymore, KYB's. Handbrake doesn't really work, might be drums needing machining, might be shoes a bit old, might be both. Or something else. Doesn't help that handbrake cable has stretched and doesn't provide anymore adjustment. So yes, if you think your car is a shitbox and you can't come out to play because of that, think again :)

Teddy: How many more people? And, what's the plan if we don't get enough people (it does happen, last time I organised something like this I had 13 people on the list, only 10 showed)
