  1. Next time try a G-clamp, they work quite well.
  2. Prepsol usually takes the yucky black goo stuff off. If you can wax the paint again after you prepsol it, as prepsol also takes wax off, which protects the paint. As for finish, you can bog if you want, or you can just primer (and or cold gal) and paint it, up to you. Wire wheel depends what type and quality. You can also try flapper wheel, personally I prefer these but they're more expensive.
  3. rolln03: pics?
  4. Those calipers are sliding calipers if I'm not mistaken. The 2 pieces should be able to slide in and out fairly freely. If not, something is stuck and you need to have a look at it. For fresh pads etc if I recall correctly it should be pressed all the way in, and the piston should also be all the way in. Are you sure you've pushed the piston as far as it should go? Use a clamp if you're not sure. Sometimes corrosion on the piston can make it a bit hard to move. Or, if your piston is a screw in type then make sure you screw it in all the way. If all else fails, shave the pads slightly.
  5. With most coilover setups I've seen the only way is with rattle gun. Some coilover setups have something to hang on to (so the shock tube doesn't turn), but this is rather rare.
  6. Spring compressors are to compress the spring. If the spring is under no tension then there is nothing to compress.
  7. Wire wheel will go through most/all the rust. You will probably be left behind with a bit of a cheese grate. If you want to cut it to a nice square shape so you can neatly make a patch to weld in, then use a cutting disc.
  8. Umm, I think Haikal's is a KE36. 4 door wagon. How are you meant to put the torsion bars back in? I'd like to put them back into Haikal's wagon, but I can't figure out how to torque them up...
  9. Hahaa, I love the "matt dreams of suspension" photo :)
  10. Bits that rotate? Interesting. Haikals wagon had torsion bars. One had popped out, I took the other one out so that I could pop the first one back in, and then couldn't put either of them back in. So Haikal now uses a broom stick to hold the hatch open :) Haikal's wagon has original interior door handles. Very cool :pirate: Well, it's got some anyway. A bit of a mismatch of things, really.
  11. I've seen people do wonders with an arc welder. My dad arc welds better than I can mig weld, including thin sheet. I think it all comes down to - can you weld thin sheet with it? No? Use something "simpler". In which case, a mig, oxy or tig is "easier" to weld thin sheet with. In fact I've been told the mig is the easiest of all, but that said I can't really weld anything consistantly at all, even with a mig...
  12. Fairly common area for rust, my KE35 had it, Haikal's KE36 wagon had it. Any sort of welder would do.
  13. Get out the wire wheel, find out how bad it really is, rust convert whatever is there. It's like square sections, too easy. Just get some 1mm steel sheet or something, bend bend weld weld, easy.
  14. Holy cow... Movie transcripts
  15. Driving up the Bruce Highway doesn't get you to Ipswich... I'm guessing it was at Gympie? They've got a skidpan there...
  16. That's so cool, that looks like Haikals wagon, even down to the jellybeans. Does it have bonnet pins? It looks like it. Actually, isn't that the car Nikki was driving around for awhile? Maybe you can look into putting struts in the hatch too. I got some SV21 struts awhile back to look into putting into Haikals car, never actually got to it though. They have bolt on bits on the ends, and are fairly short.
  17. Hopefully you don't have to reverse too much in a khanacross...?
  18. Yes, especially in Queensland!!! :D
  19. Chicks with dicks are just wrong :D
  20. My mirrors go from floor to ceiling, and almost the entire width of the bedroom (save about a meter for the door to open). It's HUGE. Like, first time I walked into the room I went "whoa" much in the way Keanu does :D Mmm, Big Mirrors and Mood Lighting :P If nothing else, it makes the room look bloody big :D
  21. LOL. My wardrobe is boring, but the doors are actually just big huge mirrors... BIG MIRRORS :D
  22. Yes Nick, I would have thought the name would have suggested that it was out of a GSX-R automatically :D
  23. Cause skinny wheels and tyres are lighter than fat wheels and tyres running -7 degrees camber :y:
  24. Hal looks so mild in comparison...
  25. Well hey, in a straight line there's less contact patch, which means less rolling resistance (like a drag car), rock on! :y:
