  1. Hmm apparently it's a 4AGE... Don't recognise the rocker cover though?
  2. Then again, do I even care? It doesn't matter, it's preeettty anyway :P
  3. I'm not sure if anyone knows (Jamie maybe?), but I've seen a catalog running around, I think Ken Streeter had it actually - that listed new panels and stuff for Corollas... Does anyone have the contact details or anything about this?
  4. Banjo: There's a 5K in a Corolla at the Wacol wreckers, I think it even has a 5 speed bolted onto it!
  5. Here's a link to some people buying some at Toymods: http://forums.toymods.org.au/index.php?t=m...480cc46bc115c16 Bill Sherwood brings them in from Malaysia. I think Anthony Kellam has recently bought 3 from Bill.
  6. TRD_ke70: W5x boxes mostly came out in Supra's, although I think the W50, 55 and 56 came out in the later model Celica's and Corona's. Something along those lines. W57 and W58 are apparently the ones to get, as they are alloy cased so a fair bit lighter. W boxes don't use T50 bellhousings, but you can get bellhousings to mate them to a 4AGE. The cheapest I've been able to find are from Malaysia, and will cost you approx $300 (for the bellhousing). Clutch on drivers side (like Jap spec 4AGE), starter top passenger side (like stock). You'll also need to get a clutch to suit.
  7. Umm. Well superchargers are run off the pulley mechanically. I suppose that website did mention that they now have intake bypass systems (I was not aware of this previously), so you can set the supercharger up to reach full boost a lot earlier, while not overboosting towards the top of the rev range. With one of these I suppose you can put in a boost controller of some sort of adjust when it starts to bypass?
  8. Plus it's easier and cheaper to change the boost on a turbo - just bleed the wastegate or install a boost controller. On a supercharger you'll need to change pulleys and gears and stuff, which quickly goes into the "too hard basket".
  9. Here's more supercharger reading There's also info about centrifugal superchargers and roots superchargers there.
  10. And here's more: From http://www.carcraft.com/techarticles/93500/index3.html
  11. Umm... No they don't.
  12. The Mini is supercharged, and it bloody well hauls.
  13. Didn't feel like starting a new thread, so I'm throwing more pictures in this one :D Mmm, more rice for the masses:
  14. Mikey: Shouldn't the first one be a TE2x? The 3x were bigger.
  15. It's running a 4AGE.
  16. Oh how much better does it look in red.. :D
  17. Going around roundabouts in the wet is just about impossible in Hal. Too little throttle, and it'll understeer. Just the right amount of throttle, and it'll oversteer. Too much throttle, and it'll understeer, or oversteer, depending on where the steering wheel is pointed...
  18. dunno, but the guy's nick is "ke2020", so hmm.
  19. I'm not the biggest fan of my locker. It's fun, and it puts power to the ground, but I think I'm having to wrestle with the car more than I want to. Like Mr Revhead said, it ploughs into corners, and then oversteers like mad out of corners. Fun, but it gets tiring...
  20. Tight LSD's (like mine and Mumblezz) also chirp at service stations.
  21. Considering how much bagging everyone does on FWD's, lots of you lot seem to have a FWD or three in your list of "I Want" cars... :D
  22. Well yes, if it's a track car (or non-road-registered car), then by all means, GO FOR IT! :D On the other hand, if it's a road car, then I'd say apart from "cool factor", the costs vs value of such a project would probably be rather skewed, and it would be a lot easier to just start of with a car engine. Or build a 4 wheeled "bike" or something. I think to qualify as a "bike" in Oz, it has to have handlebars, and you have to sit astride the engine. And I think it has to weigh less than umm... 400kg? Or some figure like that. I don't know of any other restrictions, but I don't think it matters how many wheels you actually have...
  23. Nick: I'm not certain on this, but I was talking about this to someone the other day, he was showing me some 3-wheeled motorcycle-powered kit "cars" in from America and the UK. Anyway, the problem is the engine has to meet emissions of the engine itself (which I'm sure it won't have a problem doing), and motorcycle engines aren't tested for emissions the same as car engines are. So, in order to get a car like this engineered, you'll not only need to get all the mechanicals engineered (which would likely be a nightmare), you'll also have to get the engine tested for emissions under "car regulations". That, as you can guess, would cost a lot of money. Some Locost people down south had to get a modified silvertop 4AGE tested awhile ago (to comply with current emissions, since the silvertop is an older engine and they're putting it into a "new" car), and I remember it taking a lot of time, and ending up costing a lot of money. But now they sell the modified computer etc to other Locost builders who want to use silvertop 4AGE's in their cars, so they're slowly getting the money back... Or something along those lines. Just the same, to get my car engineered it had to comply with regulations of a 1991 4AGE, not a 1975 Corolla...
