  2. just checking them out, too, thx Rob ah ok thanks mate
  3. thx guys. and evan, can you show a link for them mate? or are they are lil old? cheapest i have found is 120 ish for a std kit
  4. cheers mate. ill be grabbing full clutch kit, ie clutch plate, pressure plate and throw out bearing. just wanted to make sure b4 i commit. once again, thanks for your time, guys
  5. so do i just replace it with another 180mm(4k), or go to the 200mm that 5k's should use?(as far as i know?) thanks for the reply mate edit: I'm running a ke70 5 spd
  6. yeah mate :-) and i put a post up in the mechanical section, but i might place here too, in the hopes of more exposure. I'd love some advice before i buy the wrong HD clutch kit. i have read all the guides i can on here, and they all seem to say that a 5k clutch is 200mm in diameter, and 4k is 180mm. now, i measured up mine and its 180 mm diameter, and its def. a 5k engine. so, i assume previous owner/s has put 3,4k clutch on it, and i get the 200 mm clutch kit regardless? or do i order the 180mm? any help appreciated

  8. damn nice mate..! I'll have to get one when i get finincial and this is the timing chain I'm getting, has 2 degree increments for adjustability. will still use a wheel also. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180697696081&ssPageName=ADME:L:COSI:AU:1123
  9. thats what I'm concerned about mate. will borrow a mate's from up here and check it out when its ready to go together. getting a set of crow double row valve springs from 'Wogboy' at parts for cars for $120, too, now. so it looks like I'm a tidy up the ports, valve seat grind, at the same time.
  10. hi mate, the battery is in a box, behind the passenger seat, currently. and id guess the altitude might affect things, certainly, but not in a noticeable way, for me. as I'm not 'fine tuning' it that much at this stage.
  11. So, I have the work car for 3 weeks, so i figured i'd rip out the stock cam and put in the monster Tighe 150A i got from Luke http://tighecams.com.au/cars.htm 290 degree, 0.474" lift rough power from 2750-6500 RPM Now, when we got the timing cover off, it looked like it had a motorcycle chain, or similar, on the gears. It just didnt look 'right. it had none of the shiny links or any other indicators to line up when setting the cam up. it also had a 'joiner' in it, like you see on any bike chain, with the circlip. etc. there were pink marks on the top cog and a pink mark on the chain, that looked like a perma marker. I assume that whoever put this cam together, used those marks as a guide? now this is where things fell into place for me. i got to to back a bit in time.... *queue eerie twilight zone intro music* "Imagine you have purchased a sexy rolla, you get it home and put a timing light over the engine, as on the way home, it pinged under load. but, as you aim the light at the marks, you discover.." *Dun dun dunh..!* "The light is showing you are approx. 25 degrees BTDC" /end corny bit now So, i assumed something wasnt right. i eliminated what i could was the crank pully marked wrong? was the dizzy set up wrong? had the crank pulley keyway broken or worn? it was weird at the time.. now, at least i can assume, its the cam was out a tooth or 10. So i'm ordering a Rollmaster dual row set today. also ripping out the flywheel and taking 400kgs off it(jkes), well as much as i can, without weakening it. also, have to machine cam towers down by 3.5mm to make up the difference in the regrind cam. fingers crossed, it may be back together in a week. will take a pic of the timing gear and put it up. I'd like your imput on WTF it is. as I'm only recently back into the car 'game' after a 10 yearish layoff, i may be looking at a good set, and have NFI... thanks for your time, Zowie
  12. lol, no mate. I'll have to look into it :-) and i just "wiki'ed" Eric, and he has dropped the 'van'. He is now only Eric Lustbader' on his new Bourne series re imaginings
  13. I'm a 'go with the gut' type of guy. i once had a couple of guys who worked at the garage/servo near my place, ask me to show them under the bonnet, so they could see how the wiring was done on my alternator. they said they were having trouble getting theirs wired(datto 1600) one was in overalls, other was a behind the counter guy. i obliged. 2 nights later my twin carbs were stolen... so yeah, i'm a 'go with the gut' type of guy
  14. nice mate..! i love the throaty roar of a nice N/A
  15. if i have the rare need for torrents(as i now get scene releases via direct download), i use U-Torrent, mate. it has an inbuilt search bar on the top right corner too. If you are with internode, Newsbinz are even better..! fastest speeds out there i am a newbin noob, and only just get it working, so if you are interested in it, I'd suggest googling it tho. can PM you some good download sites tho mate. let me know if you are keen
  16. 1.Anything by Eric Van Lustbader 2.Tales of the Otori 3.The Waylander series by David Gemmell 4.Wire in the Blood series by Val McDermidt My favourite story of all time, and this may sound ghey, is First Blood written by David Morrell. truly shows the effec ts of P.T.S.D from a combat environment.

  18. thx guys, and yeah Philbey, i ended up going a compromise between the 2. took some meat off the alloy, and then packed out the exhaust a bit, also. then took it to Robbie Mann at Mufflers kings, and got all new studs and bolts fitted, he also put a flange after the extractors for me, for ease of removal. the engine bay as it stands now: got to tidy it up a lot now. will also take a pic in the daylight tomorrow of the new stud points, etc
  19. looking forward to following the story as it unfolds, mate. will it be a little like this? http://youtu.be/fwfdYnSj5Vg oh and check out the rolla 'broken down' in the clip, spotted, lol
