If it was me in the "instructors" seat i would have been telling the learner that cause he/she is well below the posted limit to do the right thing and pullover, or at least move over, to let the traffic past. But on that note - it does depend on where the driver was cause on the Kilcoy side of Somerset (I think that the name of the town) can get a little twisty and there's really no place to move over. But still all in all when you get the chance to move over to let the traffic past do it. I would have given the courtesy of waving a thank you in them moving over. Rolla'Boy - sorry to hear what happened, what a crock of shit to happen at this time of year, just well needed for the memories. Good to hear that your on the mend and hopefully it's not long term.

Oh, your not wrong there. My girlfriend's still on her L's. Just having to wait till we come back from holidays so that she can book a test. But anyway, we don't bother with the plates any more, we'd sooner run the chance of copping a fine then having the dickheads act like dickheads around us cause we've got L plates on the car. People cutting us off, being overtaken in a 60 zone while sitting on the limit, being overtaken while making a right hand turn, pushing, cutting in, acting like a dropkick while in a parking lot and trying to park. Starting to give me ideas on having a bit of fun with the plates while i'm driving.....

And even then the whole eastern australia time zone thing is out of wack cause the mexican states can't figure out the fact of starting and ending at the same time. Its one state first for a month or so then the other state figures it out and pulls their clocks back an hour..... Nope, use to start at 5 in the morning and work till 5 in the arvo as a seedman and the job before that was a 6am start and at times never got told when my finish time was which meant i could be there for 4 hours minimum up to 10 hours maximum

For me i had a gut full of it when we were living in victoria decades ago and having to go to bed while the sun was still up. About the only thing i can it being good for is the "extra" couple of hours there is for the grass to grow.. Why not have daylight savings during winter ? Wouldn't that work better where the days are shorter. Give the illusion that the winter days are longer :roll:

The carby cleaner or wd40 (rp7, inox, lanox, etc) acts as a "fuel" and if there's a vacuum leak the stuff will enrich the fuel supply bringing the revs up while your spraying in the general area of the leak.

I'd hazard at a guess that either your manifold's a little loose or the carbies a little loose. Spray a bit of carby cleaner or wd40 etc around the carby, vacuum hose connections, etc while the motors running, it'll help in showing up any air leaks if there's any. Could even just be crap in the carby jets causing the lean out. With the dizzy i don't really think that could be the problem unless its causing the timing to swing all over the shot. Then i'd be getting that fixed before any attempt is made at stripping the carby. In all reality whats happening is that the motor is leaning out then going rich again

And the subject of flares

I don't reckon it'd be that. You would tend to notice it regardless of accelerating or decelerating. It sounds more like surging. How about after work ? I guess you wouldn't really notice it since your going back up hill. Does it still do it after motor has warmed up to operating temp or just while its still cold/cool. Auto choke or manual ? Could be a few things ranging from fuel flow, ignition, to an air leak.

Might need a new tranny for this one
