  1. You are just moving right along. car looks good.
  2. I just read your while thread. What a nice project you and your dad did. That car looks amazing. I look forward to seeing the changes you make to it in the future.
  3. I have FINALLY finished the carb. What a pain in the butt that thing was. I feel like I know the thing well now. My car now idles and drives nicely now. next I will need to tackle some distributor issues and vacuum lines. I can't seem to find a chart that matches my current set up. Perhaps it is all wrong. This is what It looks like. Any help is greatly appreciated.
  4. cool! Whats the plan? are the supra parts going in here?
  5. Nice car progression. I like it. loving the square headlights. The adjustable coilovers are nice too.
  6. why? do you not have them there?
  7. Went to the parts yard today to help my wife get stuff for her project car. I looked at some KE70s they had there. I would love to get a T5, rear axle with higher ratio, and maybe even a 3tc. Tomorrow I go back and I think I may inquire on buying the whole car and compare that cost to just pulling the stuff I want. The KE7X's they have there are really nice and they aren't even picked. People around here all are after the Honda's and the Supra manual trans (shakes fist at transmission gods). I may snag some pics of the virtually untouched KE7X's they have some really nice 2 doors.
  8. This is my first Asian down draft carb rebuild. I normally work on side draft motorcycle type... conversion? possibly. After some minor hick-ups, I put my carb back together and got the car running. It runs well, but the idle is too high. It runs perfect until the auto choke opens up. I messed with everything on the outside that has to do with idle and choke. My theory: My float bowl is too low, thus the idle jet is quickly pulling in gasoline fumes instead of actual fuel (which should flow slower). I think that's the key to getting this POS carb running. I'd change it, but ill need the stock one for emission testing. Hope it works and my theory isn't all just BS. If anyone has any other ideas post away. I can't wait to drive this thing to work again.
  9. I rebuilt my carb. After getting it all together I noticed that the bowl wasn't filling with gasoline. If I manually fill the bowl the car runs fine, but it wont fill itself. I am almost certain that the twists that were needed to take the fuel solenoid off were just enough to kill the ancient wiring soldered on the back. Any other thoughts?
  10. Nice motor mounts. What v6 is that? Looks like it will be a fun car.
  11. Those are some sweet retro wheels you got there.
  12. Cool cars. That brown one looks like the one my parents had when I was a kid. It was an 81 2dr. We racked up 365k miles on it until we parked. It ran the day we sold it on original everything.
  13. heh, that thing has been out there sitting since i was a very small kid. its complete with very little damage on the front. It even has AC. I'm not sure when ill be out there again, but ill snap some pics for ya. Are the 2 door liftbacks rare?
  14. Been doing a few things to my car. I have been doing a lot of overtime at work, so my car time has been cut short. I did manage to get my turbo cleaned up. Anybody know anything about these? I know its a G... but here's the plate. here's the assembly: I purchased a carb rebuild kit, so I am 1/2 way done doing that. hopefully it will fix my idle issues. I got the barrymans bucket of stuff to dip my parts in. That stuff works great. I also looked at another older corolla that my grandfather has in his junk yard. It was a 2 door lift back 1977. I should of taken pics of the actual car. Here is the plaques: That's all for now.
  15. What are the plans for it?
  16. WOW! Read through the thread. That car will turn out very nice with all the work you have put in it. You did, and are doing a lot of what I have planned for mine. I look forward to seeing the progress.
  17. Loving that yellow paint.
  18. Very cool car. My wife wants one of these but in a 2 door. I told her the corolla was a better bet than the tercels that she has been looking at. I can't wait to see more track action!
  19. Well, I did some more work on the car today (if you want to call it that). I went through the carb and cleaned it up inside. I lost the large gold spring that goes on the plunger. Now the engine runs a little smoother. It still dies when put in gear at idle unless helpped, but now it is even harder to do without the spring in the plunger. I have worked on carbs before, but they were motorcycle and air cooled VWs. The Asian toyota carb was a witch with a capitol B. I am hoping that I can aquire a spring, put it in, and get this thing to run smoothly. If all else fails, ill get a better motor with EFI and a manual trans. Hope ill be able to drive this one until more funds arrive.
  20. My toyota is a 1976 with an auto transmission. It seems to only have 3 usable gears. I am not sure if there is a 4th or not. I am having carb / possibly vaccume issues that I am still sorting out, but I was wondering if that would relate to the transmission at all. Here are some pics that might have some info: specs of car: Can you spot any issues? You can see the gear selector has L, 2, and 3. Is this what the 4 speed autos have? or is this a "toyotaglide" 2 speed?
  21. whoops. rims are 14's.
  22. what tire size do you run? Right now my new rims have 235/xx/r15's on it, and the te30 has 185/60/13's. I think they are a bit big. They are about 9"+ on width.
  23. Yes. I got a complete set from a cecelia supra that was at the scrap yard. They are overrated minus very small blemishes that may even polish out. Ill have to get some new rubber on them. I live in the middle of california, usa, sierra mountains. Will do!
  24. Probably not going to happen. Unless I find another to make my "fun car". This car is actually my new commuter, so I plan to put AC in and maybe some other luxuries such as a FM radio etc. Whatever I change on this one will be in a way that I can change it back if I wanted. I can put all the spare parts in my garage attic. As for mods... I had to work overtime this weekend, so I was only able to get some new seats at the parts yard. They closed before I could get more. My wife ,the wonderful woman that she is, is at the parts yard as I type this. She is getting me some Toyota Celica / Supra mags in overrated condition (15s I think). She is yanking a turbo / intercooler setup for my car. Days like these I KNOW I pickked the right girl. These are what the rims look like. I am sure they have been used before. Ill probably go with a somewhat low profile tire streched just a little to help with clearance. I am not totaly sure, but I may have to use spacers.
  25. I gave my car a wash. I polished a bit of the hood to see what the original paint would look like. I hope you guys don't mind me posting pics often of what I do to my car. I have to do something about that big dent on the rear passenger side. I think I need some different seats too: the original ones are all lumpy / dumpy. Could go with some aluminum rims and a turbo too. :D For your viewing pleasure: Heres the buffing that I started:
