  1. I started the spacer to make my weber fit. Pics will explain best: This is the plan: Cut 6011 alum. with bandsaw: Drill holes with drill press. Here I am pilot drilling with a smaller bit to keep the holes aligned. IT FITS! Mocked up: Plenty of space in back: I rounded the edges. I would like to make this look as if it came from the factory when its done. I drilled the front 2 holes of the carb so they now fit the wide pattern, and it aligns the ports as close as I can get them to the stock manifold. Next I will drill the middle narrow holes and thread them for studs. Then I will drill the 2 ports and make them match the weber's to the manifold's.
  2. I couldnt wait so I started. I chose to make the spacer. Check out my rides post to see (Click down there) \/
  3. Here is what I am working on: http://www.rollaclub.com/board/topic/63705-what-would-you-do/page__pid__637828#entry637828
  4. they are actually pretty close. I would adjust the flow whithin the spacer to keep things flowing smoothly. It would be about 5-7mm or adjusting within the 20mm high spacer. Shouldnt be a problem.
  5. I need to mount my Carb approved Weber to my 2tc manifolt since my kit diddnt come with an adapter, and I can't seem to find one the right size. I can do this in 2 different ways. I can create a spacer out of some 6011 aluminum. I have a stick of .75”x3”x12'. The other way would be using a spare intake I have from a 78 and hogging out the inside where the carb normally bolts to, and inserting a square (that bolts to carb) then welding. Well look at my ridiculous paint diagram and pics. Shaded cut out is of the weber carb's base. The hard way. don't Laugh!: or The spacer: Which way would you do it? And why?
  6. Sweet! Look forward to seeing this.
  7. WOW. You are moving right along. You will have this thing up and moving in no time.
  8. Plans for the wagon? How is the 3tc-T50-3:54? That is the setup that I will have when I put all my parts together.
  9. 2 link... Are you using the front leaf mounts for mounts?
  10. AHH! cancer!
  11. WOW. Any videos of it running?
  12. Interesting idea for the suspension. Coilovers on the back? are you are going link? There has to be some way of straightening those bumpers. Other than the bends they look good. If you wanted to go custom you can always body it like some of the vintage custom trucks around here: This truck has the same lines down the side and over the fenders as ours. Just an idea. It is something I am considering for mine.
  13. Cool car. It looks a lot like mine. I am interested in seeing that engine run with the bike carbs. Are you swapping to a bigger front strut then modifying to coilovers? I am planning to do something like this to my car as well. I heard that Mazda Miata struts will fit in our stock tubes if we cut and shorten. GL with the project.
  14. Looks like a good start. Just drop a power plant in there and your good to go.
  15. Thanks. Ill have to see how they turn out.
  16. Update: Here in California there are strict smog emissions. For my car, I can use the original carb or there is one other one that was made by weber back in the late 70's / early 80's. These are hard to find due to them being made for CA smog. If you find one you have to have the correct markings and a little tag on it that refers to the article that says its legal .... BAH! what a pain! It just so happens that my wife got me a little something for my car. it came in a box that looks like this: 32/34 DFT 9A The kit is overrated condition, but the adapter is missing. I have ordered a piece of .75" x 3" x 12" piece of aluminum that I will make into an adapter. I can't wait till I get this thing past emissions and legal. I promised myself to get this done before I work on anything else.
  17. I used to be in an enforcement position. That must of been fun.
  18. WOW. Your hard work paid off. Looks great. Good inspiration.
  19. 2 door wagon... Sport wagon? I like it.
  20. keep at it. when that baby fires up for the first time all your motivation will be back.
  21. My car did this too. It wouldnt idle at a low RPM (below 1650). There are a few things I found on my car. I ended up replacing all my intake gaskets. Start at the one under the carb, then the adapter plate, then possibly the intake gasket. Mine was cracked and brittle. if any of these gaskets give out then they let air into your motor since the least path of resistance is through the cracks instead of through the carb (bringing fuel). *check for this before tearing into it by spraying carb cleaner around all your gaskets while your car is idleing.* -a high idle is ok. When the bad spot is found (with the spray) the motor will rev up for a second and then drop back down. After doing this to my car I found 2 major leaks. Another thing that can affect this is your timing. Ensure your spark is set correctly. I reccomend finding the arrow on your balancer and putting a distinct mark on it so it can be easily seen. Mine was around 46degrees advanced when I purchased my car LOL! -no wonder it wouldnt idle. I hope my past problems can help you in getting your car running like a toyota should.
  22. sweet, another one repping the Cali-rollas!
  23. I agree, but there is such a thing as too much. I think mine will have a very little amount of the bright color like this for the rim: and the only other places for the green would be the engine covers, coilovers / suspension components, and maybe some other stuff like the brakes. I don't want my car to scream at the cops when I'm driving, but I want it to pop when I open the hood and display my car.
