  1. no, down draft. bolt straight up to a dgv adaptor plate on a stock manifold. way better suited to a k series than a dgv though. they have changable venturies much like a dcoe weber. i ran 25/25mm venturis on my old warm 4k, now 26/27mm on the 5k.
  2. last week: the ke16 has been having some charging issues, with the charge light staying on. i got out the multimeter and it was overcharging. usually this is a regulator issue, so i tried 3 other ones i had laying around with no change. then i pulled out the charging harness and checked it. everything was fine. so i decided to try some other alternators i had laying around. some sort of charged normally until i put a load on, some were just crap. i ended up going through 6 alternators before i found a good one, and in the process upgraded to the later larger ke30 type in the process. ;) the 4k in the ke16 is a bit smokey. i am currently in the process of putting together my old warmed over 4k that used to be in my ke15 to go in it. the 4k is a dished piston job, it has a ported head, double row timing chain, different high lift 3k-b grind cam (256 degs duration, 0.423 thou lift). the DCD weber will probably end up on this later.
  3. thought i would start a topic on my 2 daily drivers and what i have been doing to them. not so much a project thread but more like an ongoing maintenance log type thing. i bought another 28/36 DCD weber on ebay last week. i got it yesterday, rebuilt it and now it is on the warm 5k in my ke15 to replace the worn out one that i was running. this carb came off a 1500GT Mk1 cortina. the last DCD was from a fiat 1500 cabriolet i think. anyway the thing runs better than it has for a long time. just running the factory 1500GT cortina jetting so far. it is amazing how much throttle spindle wear stuffs with the way your car runs. last week i changed the diff in the ke15. the 4.5 (ke36) center i was running was getting super noisy, so i put in a 4.3 from a ke30. the 4.3 suits the sort of driving i do now a hell of a lot better. fuel economy should improve.
  4. well on pretty much anything other than a stock 20v, you will need to have an aftermarket ECU, to run ITBs. last time i checked you were looking at over a grand for just the computer, plus wiring, plus dyno time. etc... a set of webers and manifold will be around a grand.
  5. just make sure you have plenty of spare $$$. ;)
  6. ;) go for it.
  7. why not? twin sidies will go harder than a stock 4age injection setup. carbs are a lot easier/cheaper to tune for different engine combos than stock efi. won't have the all round drivability or fuel efficiency of efi though.
  8. you should contact the real estate agency, and invite them around to look at the car in question. :jamie: have you had a breach? i would investigate your rights through the residential tenancies act. we had hassles at one stage with an annoying landlord who would invite himself around, until one day he turned up at the wrong time. ;) anyway after that he got the real estate we were renting through to send a breach for 2 unregistered cars on the premises. (which incidently had been there 3 years without problems, and through numerous routine inspections before). what i did was research my rights on the residential tenancies authority website, and also contacted them. i passed on the information i found to the real estate agency, and came to a compromise. i got rid of one car and the other one would live under the carport. look at your tenancy agreement, research your rights....
  9. all 3k's have flat tops.....
  10. K&N panel filter
  11. :) yep, datsun c30 1800. a mate of mine has one. very much like a 1600 but nicer. very very rare.
  12. i was going to ask you this in your add for the 20v water plate, but decided here was a better place for it. what are you doing about the dizzy at the back of the head in yours? recessing the firewall, or converting to a crank angle sensor or something?
  13. more like in a vacuum. :) 5th gear is usually geared for max economy on the cruise. not to be wound out. you'll probably find a lot of cars out there aren't any faster in 5th, than what they can achieve in 4th.
  14. it is not a datsun 1600. :)
  15. that thing is like the FJ of volvos. nice. :) try this one:
  16. volvo pv444?
  17. thats neat. nice! :)
  18. pretty much. it is a Fiat Abarth 1000 OTR coupe. there was an OT2000 version with a 2 liter, twin 45mm weber engine putting out 185HP. rear engined, that would be fun.
  19. another little coupe. :)
  20. a customized ms51 crown coupe? the lights look different.
  21. had to add this one. go the wide body kit. :)
  22. nothing really happening to the car as yet. should be getting into it shortly. may see about pulling the engine and box out on the weekend. i bought an engine crane and an engine leveller the other day. pretty happy about that, engine changes will be so much easier now. :)
  23. think they cost me about $30. not cheap, but well worth it. i just leave them soak after use overnight, then put them through the washing machine. :)
  24. nice little cars. your turn st.nick
  25. i'll give it to you then... Sunbeam Stiletto, a fastback variant of the Imp with a sportier engine.
