  1. i'm sure that after you sort it out, it will haul ass. :D geez, if it did need 38mm chokes, the thing should be running 48's. :lmao:
  2. i'd say a combination of 1 and 2, though i do still think it was $500 well spent.
  3. ke1x are 2285mm
  4. standard cam is inlet 16/50 exhaust 50/16 (246 degs duration) 8.59mm (0.338") inlet lift and 9.04 (0.356") exhaust lift. (gross)
  5. at least you didn't hit hard (or hit something expensive). your thing shouldn't be to hard to fix. guard, bonnet, bumper, stone tray. i did worse wiping out my carport (long story lol) in my old ke30.
  6. i wouldn't worry to much about it. by the time you f@$k around with bits and pieces to get something that works, you have spent more than what a 4age conversion would cost. my advice with a k series is to try to make the most of what you have got, or what is easily available. if it is a k series, keep it simple. otherwise do a conversion. a 3k is a stroked k. a 4k is a stroked 3k. a 5k is a bored out 4k. a 7k is a stroked 5k.
  7. haven't you got at least third party property insurance?
  8. you want about 34-36 degs total advance with the mechanical advance all in. ideally you should get your dizzy regraphed if you start modifying things.
  9. i did an auto to manual conversion on a mates ke30 at one stage. from what i remember (was a while ago) it wasn't that difficult. we did it in a laid back manner over 2 days. the pedal box wasn't an issue from memory. i have pulled a manual pedal box out of a ke10, it was pretty easy. haven't touched a ke2x one yet.... you are scaring me Rob. :)
  10. chrisandliz.... you are talking about the milder of the two cosworth grinds that madrolla has? personally i would recommend a tighe 113. 25/65 270 degs duration 0.400" thou lift (gross) at the valve. works great on a pretty much standard setup to a pretty full on combo. great street cam.
  11. yep. just trying to get a better idea of your combo.
  12. fair enough, probably help even things up. what type of valves have you got in there? sizes? compression ratio?
  13. the bigger grind you have listed has only 0.360 thou (gross) at the valve.... i sort of think they should have bumped up the lift for the translation over to k series. a 5k just doesn't have anywhere near the valve curtain area of a cosworth 4 valve head. anyway, hope it works for you. :)
  14. sounds like things are shaping up nicely. always thought the evo1 had far more class than the evo2. soon it will have the balls to match. :) lol :)
  15. 6afc head? would most likely be very similar to a 4afc head. have to be better than the 4ac head. you would have to do something with the dizzy drive out the back of the head. maybe modify the head so the dizzy runs off the front of the opposite side cam?
  16. thanks. geez, they are not very generous in the lift department. how does it go in your engine?
  17. i'm not much of a fan of the whole car. just thought the way he integrated the headlights was well done. shovel nose coronas are cool, especially the rt51s. :D
  18. have you got some specs for those cams? would be interested to add them to the dyno2000 camfiles i have.
  19. from what i have heard the front windscreens and rubbers are the same. the windscreen is just laid back more in a ke15/7 due to the 3" lower roofline. the rear ones are totally different. for a ke15/7 i have spoken to a couple of guys who have cut and shut two ke10 rubbers to make one up.
  20. a mechanical pump isn't ideal, but i doubt it would cause the problems they have described. i had a cracked inlet manifold at one stage. it made it run a lot faster when the engine warmed. probably had something to do with the crack growing when the thing warmed up and making more of a vacuum leak. if the thing is idling at 4 grand when it is warm, it has to be getting extra air from somewhere.
  21. have a look in the boot of a mk2 escort. the tank is under the floor, and the spare sits to one side. pretty sure the filler cap is behind the number plate on some models.
  22. the timing curve in the dizzy is most likely different.
  23. corolla with twin headlight conversion . no it is not a ke70. :D very well done.
  24. keep in mind that for any given cam, the power range will start and finish about 1000 rpms lower on a 5k, as compared to a 4k.
  25. probably would be a good idea to fit a restrictor in the turbo oil feed line.
