  1. Bleed Brakes before driving..LOL But top job. much safe to drive now. Quick question. What brae lines did you use? I gotta change my front wheel bearings IN a few weeks and I have a rebuilt set of girlocks just sitting in the shed I rebuilt and I wanna swap them on but dotn wanna get stuck with the wrong brake lines. So if you can answer this question would make my life easier. Cheers Cameron
  2. hI, Out of interest what were the ones on EvilBay going for? I got this one at a good price :sob: Also got free run of an electro plating shop so I might plate it. All ready own a chrome tool box at work I stripped and dipped LOL Also interesting to know the old FJ cruiser had them. Would stand to reason must of been a thing Toyota did in the 60's for a few models as you could get one in the corolla also. Well will be a nice addition to my boot. Thanks for all the info. Also parrot can't view link I'm not a toymods member. Cameron
  3. Hi, Got this item a few weeks back now and am chasing its history. Pictures are below. All I could get off the person it was purchased from was he originally got it off an old bloke and it was full of all these weird "useless" tolls that he threw in the bin. He then glass blasted it then was going to paint it up but then I got a hold of it. Now below are 2 theory's of its history I have but if you know the EXACT thing this was originally for let me know. Theory 1: Now in the back of some parts books I have or service books from dealers I have of Toyota in the 60's all the special service tools came in nice metal tool boxes. But they have a drawing of jsut a square tool box with not much detail. Now these boxes the SST came in were all different shapes pending the kit. So that is one place it could of been an original SST tool box sent to a dealer and that would also explain the "odd tools this guy threw out" Theory 2: In my original KE15 parts catalouge and other KE15 manual and a KE11 one I have in the back it list as an optional extra a nice sleak metal tool box to hold the cars wheel brace and screw drivers and that in etc. again in the picture it is average quality and shows a similar sized metal box sitting in the corner of a boot. So hard to make out if it has the same logo on the top. But this could of been from there. They are my theory's of where this box is from but would love it if others know where it is from and can let me know. Cheers Cameron BTW: The inside wasnt blasted much and he said it was originally gloss black all over. So I was thinking making it gloss black then the logo on the top red so it stands out.
  4. I get about 4 full tanks a month. I use E10 as one of them. Ethanol in the fuel will stick to water/ moisture in your fuel system and then take it through the engine and out so I use it to rid of moisture. What can happen is ethanol will send some rubbers soft and they break up causing fuel leaks. Old/er cars have that rubber. I am not 100% sure about a K motor but I have run 1 tank full of it a month for 8 months this year now and no issues yet. Nothing rubber wise. But note you get slightly less economy out of E10 fuel. Cheers Cameron
  5. MORE DONE for now. If you think of more you need just ask Cameron
  6. Hi, As prommised I got out my KE1X books etc and scanned a few pages for you. Below. Have a lot will be across a few threads enjoy:
  7. Hi Matt, I have heard of guys who have fit chev solid lifters to a 5K block of a certain type and the hole that feeds oil was aligned with the hole in the solid lifter so the motor made 0PSI oil pressure. He just blocked it off and has never looked back. So yes I have heard of it done and yes can be done. Cameron
  8. Hi, Old ish thread not but had to post this bit of info. Started my rebuilt 5K other day with my oil pressure gauge connected for the first time. I runa 2mm shim and hold 80PSI at idle with cold oil. I run a 10W-40W oil in it. After it warmed it dropped to about 70PSI that was when I shut it off. I feel this would be enough. 3mm might be to high but if your keen go 2.5mm should be a nice shim size also. Cheers Cameron
  9. Will fit. 5K sump is still shallow like other K motors only 7K has the wider deeper sump.
  10. T50 gear box hey.. don't have an under car pic? Also the Bell housing don't know where the original owner got that from do you? Cameron
  11. Stock twin carbies have smaller jets than a standard single carby. So a little trick is to put 2 stock carbies off a single carby car on a twin cary manifold and you will get more power also. A guy on here was once running a twin carby mani with 2 Webber's I believe he had a lot of tunning issues. But if your working the motor your crazy not to get a second hand side draft set up. Cheers Cameron
  12. From my experiments. All K motor extractors from KE2X and up are nearly the same from cylinder head to the collector on the extractors. After that they bend different per car. As My pacemaker 4-1 extractors from the cylinder head to where it goes into 1 pipe is 100% the same from KE1X to KE7X models I was looking in the shop. So if you really want to save cash cut it there and muck about. But as said before a custom system is prob faster to get done less stuffing around for you etc so price elsewhere. Cheers Cameron
  13. Also should add while doing rim swap and checking wheel bearings etc. My homing pigeon came and followed me around and pooped on the car..LOL He is called Mr Biggles worth ;) He jumps on you pecks all your spanners is a great help while working on the car.
  14. Thanks for the comments guys. And Simon 6 hours you are god. I started dong what I was doing sl matt glass bead spokes, black spaces, yellow ring...Then I started a polished outer rim on one PORN man were hot I got half a wheel done in about 1hr. Got the shits..LOL as I doa lot of polishing and lapping at work so on the weekend felt like I was working to much..LOL Just had Jagermeister with me. I started at 80 grit then 180 then 320 then 800 then 1200 hen a buff. Just don't have patience or time. BUT MAN were they HOT. So I really really like your blue rims. But how did you polish your rims? What grits type of buff wheel hand or like a dremmel etc? But I noticed if you don't blast the rims and pick the paint off by hand the rims have a polished machine surface from making them so then a quick wipe over and there all ready polished. So if your keen I recon paint stripper would be better then blasting. Might try that on a spare one I will have. Also wanna polish my outer part of the rims Xany??LOL But got a pic of the rim one finished with the black on my KE30 other day. I LIKE..;) Will do job. Half broke my camera so pic below is dodgey BUT you get the idea. Looks MUCH MUCH better in person.
  15. Kinda been a bit slow in doing this but here goes. Got a few CSX rims finally and first step I needed to badly clean them up. Pics below of how they looked: The above wheel was an average one. I got 3 that night. One was average, bad, then a ok one. So What I did is decided to stick with the original color lay out on them. First I glass bead blasted them and then painted a yellow ring on it where the red would of normally gone. Pic Below is the result: Notice in a few spots flecs of original Toyota paint. Hard stuff to move. But pick it off with a knife and it cracks off in chunks. Then I proceded to paint inbetween the spokes gloss black. This was to make the shape of the spokes more vibrant. After a few coats of black as the cast ally made the paint look thin and it kinda soaked in. I coated the rims with 7 coats of clear. Pics of final product to come. Cheers Cameron
  16. I have the KE1X aircon manual and other books that might list what you need. Ill scan some today and post it up see what you think. Cheers Cameron
  17. QLD has this option of 1 point on a good behavior lisence as mate is currently on one he got it about 2 weeks back. Also I got towed a while ago after a break down and the truck smashed up my sump, threw steering alignment out (don't know how) and bent the rear of my exhaust. Was some tow guy RACQ use. So I just hate commercial tow trucks in general. Small operators I find much better. Cheers Cameron
  18. Like steel rims not mas are a flat silver color the wheels. And yes it was lowered. Cameron
  19. Spotted 4ages last Friday on the 1st of this month at 12:35 on Kingsford smith drive he was tuck in traffic going towards the gateway I was heading into city after finishing work. Cameron

  21. Why I don't I have a 3K under the bonnet with 500,000+km on it and well I know if i had a faster car I would do the same till I learn so I just limit my self although when my KE15 is on the road well see I guess. But Ill prob be driving that slow on weekend anyway so never know. But good luck des. I am sure there is some work out your way for you. Cheers Cameron
