Pfft weak!

Ok, so new brakes are in :) Along with rebuilt CV shafts, new front brake hoses, new rear pads and machined rear discs. Yesterday arvo I also looked into my suspicions of the rear brakes and handbrake not working as they should. Turns out some spud bucket the had fitted the rear pads had not located the pads into the locater cutouts of the piston. as such only half the pad on the inside of both calipers were working and severely wearing my rear discs :S This is all sorted now with some new rear pads (properly) installed and a light machine of the discs. Will be looking to add slotted rear rotors evnetually and paint the calipers to suit the front :) I am now in the process of nicely bedding in the brakes and there is already a noticeable improvement in stopping power. New front brake set up Check out the heat that discoloured the old front discs!

Unless the 'box has been changed/upgraded by a previous owner your box should be a C50 gear box. You can leave the motor in to remove the 'box but it will need to be supported from above (as Sam Q said) as the lower engine mounts are actually bolted to the 'box. Once the motor is supported from above it's easiest to remove the crossmember with it's mounts which will give you greater access from underneath. Don't forget to remove all of your thermostat housing assembly from the box before removal. Matt.

Funny that how sometimes cars are for sale when you first drive past them isn't it?
-
Mmm very nice bog work ;) Looks to me as if there is a little too much hardener because it's so orange.
-
Of course they do. I should be able to do stoppies down Chapel St ulehz!
-
Yeh, shouldn't pose a problem ;) Well I have now painted and assembled my calipers. They're looking pretty good now and will go in together with all the other junk I have to do :)

Update time! Well lately I have been saving madly (and missing out on other cars in the meantime!) and have made some progress on the brake front. Ended up going for the sv21 caliper brake upgrade with AE93 series 2 sx/ultima slotted front rotors. Also i'm in the progress of getting some custom springs made up and will fit them onto some brand new shocks/struts :) Also of high priority ar some new CV shafts as my passenger side is about to let go :( Here are some pics of my brake progress. SV21 calipers ($20ea from wreckers) Test fitting on bracket (will require 'mods' to backing plate) Disassembled and cleaned/buffed New goodies :) Next will be to paint the calipers and run the kits through them. Hopefully will install them all in one go with CV's, struts/springs and complete upgrade YEEEHAAA!

Yeh they probably would Ryan. Can't wait to have this set-up going :)

Nice work Luke. Keep the updates coming :)

Such a good cruiser Evski. Make sure you treat her right ;)

This is wicked news! If it's worthy of the magazine with the old set-up, there are going to put it on the cover when it's TURBS! Seriously dude congratulations on the surprise feature and bring on more BOOST!
-
Cheers for the link Luke but this time I'm one step ahead! I have been sussing out the brake situation for the past month but will now have to look into the sv21 caliper. Oh and here are some pics off my phone of the interior as promised. The marks you can see is actually crap on the camera lense!
-
Thanks Luke. Well on the weekend I steamcleaned the interior. Looks almost as good as it would have when it left the factory. I am currently hunting down an AE92 SX series two front brake package as a neat little upgrade. The car is back on the stock alloys for now as I was ruining the semi slicks on the road. I'll definitely have to put up some photos of the interior very soon :)

Looking good Ben :)

78_7kRolla replied to JJT036's topic in VIC / Melbourne
I know there is a spotless KE38 mustard wagon in Noble Park. Time will tell if it comes out of the woodwork soon ;) -
That's fantastic guys. It is coming up so well and the colour is perfect :)
