  1. I couldn't agree more. The Crown to me is the pinnacle of the automobile back in the day. It is seriously just so comfortable and smooth, after a bit of maintenance here and there I now have made EVERYTHING functional on the car. It is so amazing, I sometimes don't know what to do with myself, so many things to play with and only so many fingers.
  2. Hey guys, will be returning to the rolla finally this holidays. I really want to get stuck into it so I can enjoy driving what I have created. I just put a rides thread up of my other car. Anyway I will keep you all updated as things happen. ;)
  3. Thanks guys, just wait till you see the rest of the photo's.
  4. Here is the car guilty of slowing the progress on my conversion to my KE55. But I must say it has been a well worthwhile experience. It is the first time I have ever done a job such as this. It was a tiring one as I had only nights after my job to work on it. Anyway, it is an 1975 MS85 Crown Super Saloon. It's got all the jizz and jazz you could ask for back in the mid 70's. Power windows all round, central locking, power steering(as most crowns have), fully functional and quite impressively cold air conditioning, boot popper, automatic locking once you reach over 45km/h, automatic rear demister, rear passenger radio controls, antenna's for the radio are integrated in both the front and rear windscreens, engine bay light and plenty of stainless steel trims. ;) :y:  It is powered by an awesome 4M, which has been untouched and is proving very reliable as most old Toyota's do anyway. There are a couple of other things that I have done to it which don't come standard but I will post them up later. Anyway let the pictures do the talking. Hope you guys like it. :y: :) :D :y:
  5. This is an awesome looking car, and the work your doing is the way all repairs should be done. Keep up the awesome work.
  6. So will we see you Marty at the beginning of the cruise. Thats cool. Can't wait to see the beast again and catch up. And Mick, I like, (no wait), I love the excitement that you're showing man. I also agree that we should try and get more rollas, I wish that mine was done, but that however can only be guaranteed for next year. Anyway, Jess and I both are sooooo excited, we can't wait to cruise!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :y: :D :y: :| :y: :bash: :y: :D :y: ;) :y:  :y:  :y:  :y:  :y:
  7. I noticed your Gilmer Drive Craig, and that looks awesome. Its good to see you gettin a move on with this car. I hadn't seen any posts or anything of the sort about your car in the recent times so its good to see it on the conversion line. I can't wait to see your car in the skin and hear that Gilmer. Again, top stuff Craig, keep it up. :)
  8. Hey Mick, you know that Jess and I will most definitely be there. I am MEGA looking forward to this cruise. We will meet up with you guys at Villawood. Thats a pity that Marty can't come. Oh well, we will just have to enjoy the day for him. :bash: :D
  9. Well, it has been a while again, and I am afraid that there really aren't any updates. I have been doing small things every now and then, but not much really worth mentioning. I have been absolutely flat out rebuilding my girlfriends Datto 200b motor, the mighty L20B. I just finished it on Sunday night. The motor is amazing now, almost as quiet as a new car. Apart from that I have also purchased a new car. Not a corolla, but DEFINITELY a Toyota. I will post up some pics of it soon in the Rides thread. Anyway, it won't be long till I am back on the road to completing the rolla again. :)
  10. Man, that is an awesome car. It looks really clean and everything that is done to it definitely keeps with the era. :P :) I also really like the foggy's on the front. Well done on an awesome buy. :)
  11. Thats awesome man. I can't wait to see this thing. I am sure that you will only improve on the other car. Great to see that you are still into it. Keep us all posted man.
  12. Yeah mate, I used TIG, as for pulse, it depends on personal preference. For real thin stuff I tend not to use pulse but thats me. I know heaps of other people which say the same and they prefer to use pulse. It all comes down to how much experience you have, and you will slowly find your way. Thankyou for the comments too. :)
  13. Well, the latest news is what every car entusiast/rebuilder absolutely despises. RUST. But I came up with a solution. As painful as it is I actually picked up my 5" grinder with a cutting wheel and began on the journey to no rust. It was very hard for me as the car is very clean already with a very clean paint job so it was super hard for me to 'butcher' the panel. But I said to myself, I must 'butcher' in order to arrive at a much more satisfactory finished product, and then it will never again be in the back of my head. So here are some pics to feast your eyes on. The problem area was on the bottom angle where the rear window seals around. This here was the first problem spot. Rust holes. Oooohhh yeah. :y: Cut that cancer out ! ! ! ! ! ! ! :) And then I welded in a patch of stainless steel, and ground the weld back smooth. This was the next problem it was worse than the above. It was so bad that the angle that held the window in actually deteriorated in that spot. So again out came the good old grinder and I chopped out another part. This time significantly larger than the previous one. And again I welded in a patch of stainless steel. So after all of the above was painstakingly complete, I looked at the angle that was meant to hold the window. It seemed as though it was lacking in the strength and sealing properties of a good one, considering the rust and missing parts. So I decided that it needed to come out. I came this far so I thought why not. So I cut the whole strip out and made a whole new one out of stainless steel again, and tack welded it in all the way along. And the funny liquidy look is rust dissolver. Here is the stainless strip tacked in place. And now painted. I reckon that it should be good enough for a long while. Now that the bare metal is fully rust treated and completely covered, the next job is to run a bead of special sealant in the corner of the stainless steel strip, and paint the section the can be seen. The gloss black is only painted on the inside of the car and on the parcel shelf. So there you all go. The latest update on my rolla. I have also been sorting out the fuel setup including a surge tank. So I am still moving ahead. Hope you guys like it.
  14. Finally in the process of rebuilding my gearbox after I have gone through a few headaches of people not being able to source out the correct bearings etc etc. Should be complete very soon, then I will be making a radiator over flow can, finish of some more wiring, sort out a fuel system(and the list goes on) and then I can drive the car. :D Sounds easy for sure. I wish it really was. Soon though soon.
  15. Hey Mick. This is pretty cool to see. I would be more than priveleged to actually give a helping if you would want. I would love to make some custom parts for this mad lil' beast.
  16. Hey, again it has been a while since I last updated. Anyway I spent a bit of money and bought basically everything I need to complete the clutch side of things. New pressure plate, exedy clutch, Master cylinder and slave cylinder and a few bearings. I also finally got a chance to make the oil catch can that I have been planning to do for aaaaaaaggggggeeeeessssss. Anyway here are a few pics.
  17. There are a couple of hotspots in wollongong and just cruising around there at night is pretty enjoyable. But liverpool and penrith Krispy Kreme are alright aswell.
  18. The rack and pinion conversion would be a great idea but I am still sticking with the steering box. I am not sure on its difficulty though. As for my diff I did end up going with 28 spline axles and I got a brand new limo which would be closer classified as a locker it is that tight. Anyway, thanks for the good words, I hope yours goes well. :)
  19. Still going strong with my conversion. I have been making my oil catch can and I have fully finished off the intake pipe with the air temperature sensor fitting on the pipe aswell. The latest though, I have been pulling apart my celica gearbox and getting it ready for a full overhaul. So here is a picture for those of you who haven't seen inside a gearbox. And, mind you, there are still some more parts to come. So anyway, nevertheless I am still workin on the KE55.
  20. :) :D :D Mate, I seriously feel like I have lost my breath, my heart feels like it has pole vaulted out of my body and my skin has shrivelled up so much because of my enormous amounts of goosebumps. Don't get me wrong. I am so glad that the both of you are okay, but when it comes to something like this I can truely feel your pain. I have'nt even finished my car yet, but I know what it would feel like if something like that would happen to me. Don't give up man, seriously, the way I see it is like this. If you are capable of buliding a mad KE30 like this now, imagine from the experience that you have gained, exactly what you are capable of now. My eyes are peeled for you Adam and I am sure everyone elses are aswell. I am telling you now that if you do decide to rebuild another rolla (which I sincerely hope you do), I am at your service. I will be more than happy to fabricate many custom parts for your new beauty. So come on fellow rolla owners. Lets help Adam resurrect a car. :)
  21. You are doing an exceptional job mate. It is really good to see such in depth work, new ideas and different aspects happening to a lil old school rolla. Very very good and definitely keep up the awesome work and also the pictures. :D :bash:
  22. Thats cool. Sorry Andrew, I should've thought of that. anyway, I couldn't agree more. The day was awesome despite the weather and yet again I must say that Ican't wait till the next cruise.
  23. Awesome turnout. Pretty happy with the day and thanks heaps for the very satisfying BBQ. Can't wait till the next cruise. :hmm:  Can't wait till I finish my car and then I can join in. Had a bit of trouble getting home though, sort of got lost and then just before the Picton exit I got a flat tyre. :y: It ruined my white wall too. DAMN. Oh well. Sorry for the edit Wayne, Just trying to keep everyone safe :y:
  24. Completely finished off the job tonight. I was lucky and an Auto Shop was open and I purchased myself an air filter. Here are some more photo's.
