  1. My 5k was: 40 thou over new slugs dipped and all new bearings (including cam) balanced Full head rebuilt (not ported) Complete VRS kit 1300 bucks. I bolted everything together, with the exception of the conrods already on the pistons. Cam I got off here for 150 bucks with hydraulic lifters, rods and a 5 speed. Uncertain on the profile, but you can get them ground cheap. 70 bucks for an elec dizzy off here If you want a Capacative Discharge ignition (MSD) then don't get the MSD 6al. Get the Crane Hi6, its digital rather than analogue and it has a built in rev limiter, unlike the MSD which uses the stupid pill modules. PLUS its much cheaper.
  2. I don't mind the Premium plates, they're simple and unobtrusive.
  3. You people are crazy. Just like this guy Either your car will look like a shitty welded up attempt at replicating the lines of a factory 2 door, or you will spend a house deposits worth on a car that you could have bought factory for less.
  4. Just remember - piss someone off on the road and that bling plate will etch into their brain for a later day............ ........ ..... .. . . .
  5. Mate, theres 3 sets of twins for sale at the moment, 2 sets of twin SU's and 1 set of dellortos. I'd probably go with the Dellortos as my preference, but the SU's are pretty popular. You will see better perormance if you go ahead and install a better cam and extractors to complement them.
  6. You could abbreviate your rather crass signature: 2JFAGT
  7. Or make me a Taz and I mods so we can just SHUT EM DOWN hahahaha!
  8. Lock the thread.
  9. Good times, can't wait to line you up haha! Are you running a dellorto or a weber? (You said dellorto weber in an early post). Single sidedraft, 40 or 45?
  10. Interesting. Sure its not an electric choke actuator? Or, maybe it just partially cuts fuel flow to lean out on shutoff?
  11. How exactly did it fail? You sure it didn't just gum up with crud, or bust a circlip? Or did it seize? I wouldn't be using either combination, although some people have used hydraulic cams with solid lifters. As for sourcing them, Repco are not the be all end all of parts suppliers, try Bursons or Coventrys/Motor traders and most certainly try a couple of engin builders.
  12. I got 8cc dished pistons (ACL/Mahles) in mine.
  13. Thats a 520 ute isnt it, I've seen it before. Off its head. Try one of these 2 colours: Flat blue or WD40.
  14. If it had a solenoid and wasn't wired up, it wouldn't start. You wouldn't use the energised stroke of a solenoid to cut fuel when the car is turned off. I would say the timing is the first and easiest thing to do, then perhaps consider trying to adjust the carby tune, running too rich will cause run on as well. And higher octane (premium) will improve it.
  15. PICTURES! (I just built one as well!)
  16. My mate just bought a dolly and belted them out and bogged them.
  17. It really isnt that hard pulling K motor manifolds off and putting single or two piece gaskets back on.
  18. a very quick, crude estimate based on a cam-rocker distance of about 200mm, with a temperature increase of 100 degrees above cold engine temp, the rocker grows about .234mm from cold to hot. So, if you open the COLD length up to .3 - .4mm you should be alright to start it. No flaming! - that was a very fast dirty calc, not taking into account the rocker posts/head growth etc.
  19. The Crane system will be a very expensive way to go. 50-100 bucks will score you a 5K distributor from this website, its a direct swap with existing and uses a Hall Effect sensor (No points to gap). Direct bolt on and 1 extra wire required from the coil. Plenty of people here could help do the swap, would take about 1.4 beers worth of our time + travel. What area are you in?
  20. I reckon you should go a flat green paint with a red metalflaked/white interior!
  21. Yep. Plainly and simply I'm sick of KE70 trash. They're the scourge of the planet, my only reason to own one would be to abuse it. Henry, saw your rocket again the other day, I love it man. If I see you this weekend I'll drop in and visit (hopefully in my wagon!)
  22. A resonator uses sound wave overlap to cancel out engine noise. Reality is they should have a "tuned" length to get the correct note. What it looks like: a hotdog.
  23. My 5k head volume came in at about 18cc.
  24. whats wrong with it? I don't know about you canberra folks with your mild climate, but I would say that down here with our record 45.7 degree heat, 4/80, or WD40 air con as my old man calls it, just wont cut it!
  25. Is it a flat head with only a very shallow kidney shaped combustion chamber? Is there a 4 sided blanking plate on the back of it with 4 bolts to hold it on? pics will help.
