  1. You know what you might be right.... I reckon the box might have had KE10 written on it. Damn that means the only fan likely to fit is probably the well and truly defunkt 2 blader..... Might just get the round file out....
  2. See pic attached. I'm sure its the same as the one on the 3K.
  3. Good point, yes i suppose they can if the diaphragm tears. Id pull it out and check it ASAP. Unscrew the top half of the pump and inspect the rubber diaphragm for holes etc. You should have noticed running issues with a leaky diaphragm though, like leaning out/stalling at high revs.
  4. You sure it wasn't just some water vapour?
  5. Given that it's defected and amost likely has to go to Regency, I'd be guessing it's not worth bugger all complete. Probably best parting it out.
  6. If you have a mate with a copy of Autocad, you can draw them up and get them Lasercut quite easily. I made one out of Stainless for my old Bluebird, then we just turned down some endpieces and welded them into a steel tube. I have a left hand thread 12mm tap as well. Ball joint ends cost me about 12 bucks. I'll see if I can find a pic of it.
  7. I've lifted K motors with box on just 2 blokes with rope standing on the quarters.
  8. I have a brand new pump with a small PCD (smaller than the 3k one) but a larger centre pin, although not as large as the 5k one. Anyone know what it's off?
  9. Those relays you hear clicking might not be relays, but the solenoid itself. When they get old they often get crap in them that clags up and arcs can effectively weld (for want of a better word) the solenoid pin to the barrel, so that when you hit the key, the solenoid doesn't throw out. If the solenoid doesn't throw, the circuit for the motor itself doesn't close so it wont spin over. Most likely when you pulled the motor out the solenoid was dislodged. Try hitting the solenoid with a rubber mallet then start it. As for the lights coming on, most cars do that so you can see what globes are gone on the dash display.
  10. Where are you located?
  11. Actually that rings a bell - I have had issues with my water pump. I got a brand new one for free, but neither my 3k or my 5k pulleys fit correctly. They both have differing PCD's from the pump and the centre hole on the 3K one was too small for the pulley boss.
  12. You can always stash it in an inconspicuous spot, like down at knee level or in the console etc so it doesnt look tacky.
  13. They're not talking about crushing cars because they are modified. They are talking about crushing them "if we can establish they are being used for the purpose of street racing". I have no qualms about it. Some of the dangerous acts people get away with street racing are phenomenal. They're talking about crushing the cars of those with total and utter disregard for the law, not the average joe bloggs who might squeeze the throttle off the line up to 65 then back off.
  14. I thought the later model K50's (KE70) had slightly different internals, like larger layshaft bearings or something?
  15. Is the total advance on the 5K van dizzy as much as the Points dizzys? Faster advance would probably be due to the springs.
  16. Lovely!
  17. Manufacturers probably don't run hydraulic hand brakes because a seal failure would result in the brakes coming off (when you've parked it at the top of a big hill).
  18. Viton isn't too hard to find, it's much more common that it used to be. Ring up Parker (I'm sure they do Viton) and ask for a few samples of the size you need, tell them you're developing a biomedical instrument or something... haha.
  19. Is there anyone out there?.......
  20. For your clearances, I'd use the 4k settings if your rods and lifters are original 4k.
  21. Pay someone to do it, you sound like a liability to me! :P
  22. 30mm Clearance with a KE10 might be difficult!
  23. What pre load are you intent on running?
  24. 1 7/8 is 47.625mm, thats definitely too big. Doesn't matter, I got the old one to fit nicely. Incidentally Cornes Toyota called and said the new item arrived, but by then the box was on and ready to drop into the car.
  25. Taking it out is the easy bit - putting it in with the box in place is the hard bit. Definitely easier to take the lot out. 5 bolts off the crossmember, 4 bolts off the shifter housing and you avoid trying to align the spigot and input splines on in a difficult spot. In KE10s as well the drag link and crossmember are much to close to the front of the box.... I've just got my 3k Auto - 5K 5 Speed swap done in my car. No fitment issues, the Alternator I just swapped and the Dizzy was already an Elec one. (Apart from Point gapping, I still haven't seen any real bonus from the Elec one)
