  1. Wait a minute, you had to pull the tailshaft 20mm back on the splines to get it to mate up with the diff flange?
  2. I know in Adelaide the local wrecker has a contract with the council to tow and store all dumped cars: they drag them to their yard and they have to sit there for 3 months to give the owner option to collect. If noone takes it it goes to the wrecker and it's theirs. Your council will have a similar arrangement, if you can find out where they end up you can start buttering them up...
  3. By the way Jip I'll take em for 20 bucks?
  4. If someone wants to get into your car, the locks wont do much to keep them out. In an older car you could quite easily get a screwdriver in under the window frame and flex it out far enough to get an arm in and unlock the door. The old packing strap or coat hanger are easy too. I'm not even a car thief! The old killswitch to isolate the coil is a winner - car cranks but wont fire so they don't realise its there. Also if you run a fuel pump you could easily isolate that. Immobilisation is the way to go...
  5. Mine's getting built with Hydraulics, I have an aircooled boxer and that's enough on the menu as far as setting tappet clearance for me.... I won't be revving that hard either.
  6. Hi there mate, welcome to RC. Cheers TP.
  7. Genuine 100k - its still just a 4k though, if it breaks, pay someone a slab and get a new one....
  8. Mods will jump on this discussion in a minute if we keep discussing the various options for theft. If you want to try obtain it legitimately, get the vin/chassis numbers from the rego sticker and contact Vicroads and request a vehicle ID check. That at least will confirm if the car is dumped etc.
  9. Can't confirm it for you mate but I'm keen to hear how you go. Cheers, TP
  10. can you get 7 letter plates in WA? You could do [DOGHAUS].
  11. Definitely go 1UZ, isnt it all alloy? vs a Cast Iron 351! Should be much lighter. As for Carbs you'd have to fab up a manifold, run triple deuces poking out the bonnet. That would be funny as....
  12. Haha, funny call Iro... Myles, there's a number of options you could use. you could put an off the shelf generic linkage on the throttle shaft etc. I don't think you need to run a second throttle shaft like rolla_boy70s brother, you should be able to run one straight off the linkage shaft EDIT - Take a look at brendans first picture you'll see there's no secondary shaft, the cable just runs straight to the linkage shaft. Should be EASY to fix. Just a tip - go buy a book on SU's, how they work, tuning etc and read it before you just slap them on the car.
  13. His girlfriend following him with an embarrased look on her face would carry it.
  14. Rotors and their flame popping action, I remember chasing an RX3 coupe and seeing it light up the whole street in front of me. Good times.
  15. Those the Ebay ones? Engine Enamel is thin thin thin. Lots of light coats and you'll be sweet.
  16. Thats exactly the point, the studs will just be in tension.
  17. Nice little setup. Looks like a honds S800 engine bay!
  18. Nice pipe fab work there. I like the Ypiece for the weber as well. I've got a spare 5k kicking around, I might have to do a dirty bolt together on it and slap a blower on. Jam it into a KE30 for a hack....
  19. They're sensors, the little brass bits poking out will take a standard 6.35mm spade connector. Given that there is 2 of them, they are probably just conductive sensors that trigger when the fluid runs out. Nice bit of gear, what did you pay for it?
  20. I recognise her from her panties.... think I still have them somewhere hahaha.
  21. A couple of blokes at work used to ride one around the work carpark every lunch. They got pretty damn good. My mate then bought one, he rides to the shop on it.
  22. Give us some details: What's done to the car, why did they knock you back, what reason did they cite etc. I insured an engineered CA18 Turbo Bluebird wagon with Vigil car insurance when I was about 20-21. Fire and Theft, about 800 bucks a year. Just Cars have huge excesses, and their policies are quite inflexible. I insured my '78 911 with them because Shannons weren't convinced (when I was under 25) that I was a genuine Porsche fan, instead of a cashed up young bloke. Shannons are looking at hardcore enthusiasts, not blokes that have tricked up their old jap banger. They will ask you some difficult questions before they insure you. As far as they're concerned, you are driving a common as muck corolla with a big engine, definitely not the market they're after. CGU insured my Ke16 full comp for about 250 bucks. When I put the 911 onto Shannons after 1 year of Just Cars, I put the rolla on with them for about the same money, 250 bucks, covered for 5000!
  23. if you're really worried put a very thin smear of Silicon gasket sealer on there. don't pile it on like a bloody 7 year olds birthday cake icing though.
