  1. my old bluey made 150(198hp)kw with a remapped comp, a good exhaust, supra cooler, not sure of the boost. unsure if it was wheel or flywheel (new owner dynoed it), but either way, thats a good start for an essentially stock motor. And it was a formidable car to drive. in a 900kg rolla, it would be much much more formidable.
  2. shit yeh I have to agree - don't f@$k with bikes, let them lane split, and for christs sake if you actually do see them, give them room, not close them off! don't get me wrong - i'm not a biker. But after nearly losing a dad and a sister cos some f@$kstick didn't look hard enough when he pulled out I started thinking. Then one day I took my mates bike for a gentle lap around a few blocks and it suddenly sank in - nobody sees bikes. Seriously - closing someone off in a car who's being a prick, no worries. At worst you might bend something or scuff a rim. But being "funny" and closing off a bike, or just messing with them because you feel justified in doing so will kill somone. If you are sharp enough to see them to begin with, just give them room. another thing that shits me is how easy it is to get a god damn license in this country! some of the space cadets I know that they let drive astounds me......
  3. You know what else pisses me off???? never, never again.
  4. SRs are all fine and dandy, but CA18s are good cheap power. My mate stumbled across this the other day: Bluebird for sale This is my old car (not pluggin the sale by the way). I re did the head gasket about 2 years back then sold it January last year. I did a proper job on it, and bought quality parts, so that bit is all good. when I sold it, it needed a clutch and an exhaust flange/turbo gasket, which both have been done by this dude. Not sure why, but he also reckons he replaced the timing belt, which I did when I did the head (go figure). Seriously, if you want a CA, scoot over here, grab a permit and drive this thing back. He'll sell for 1100 according to a mate that emailed him. This is a good motor, just a pity it was wrapped in 1200kgs of shitbird wagon. Seriosuly quick though, If I managed enough traction, I could go neck and neck with my mates RS Liberty which was also a fast car. Everything you need here - motor, fuel system, computer etc etc. Unbreakable motor, and this one has had the requisite CA head gasket problem fixed! Id love to see something good done with the donk, and then give me a call and I'll come around, drag the shell away and burn the f@$ker to the ground! (bluebird owners will understand)
  5. word of warning people, my mate brake checked some nutjob tailgater once and the dude rammed him about 4 times. was the end of a neat little datsun 1000 2 door coupe. hows THAT for irritating.
  6. yeh no worries, just let me know. should I give you a call tonight?
  7. haha - ~25k it cost me. Its very tight mechanically, but theres paint blemishes here and there, which is what I was looking for. Depending on what the value does, it might strip her and paint her, otherwise i might just sell and upgrade to a turbo in a couple of years. The corolla - its my daily/parts chaser/learning curve. 911 is fun, but I don't want to commute in it every day and put unneccesary miles on the clock! no shit - little rich kids. I busted my ass to buy my 911, but little pricks these days get whatever daddy gets told to buy them. and they can't drive. Given how much trouble I used to get myself into in a 1.3 saturn powered Galant, I would be dead had I got a more powerful car...!
  8. this is the best idea - damn I love to vent. First up - Ignorance. I hate ignorant pricks. shut up. piss off. Simple. Second - Ebay heroes misusing the "ask seller a question" button. No kidding this bloke advertises a schmicko TA22 celica, with an original 83000kms on it. some choad decides to lecture him about "mate youre dreaming if you reckon that car is original 83000kms cos its speedo is in miles no way could it only have 83k km etc etc...." Check again idiot - plain and simple, theres a PICTURE OF THE SPEEDO IN KMS AND IT SAYS 83000kms. Wanker. There was another one of a dude berating a guy for listing his model A hotrod weight as 1800 pounds when his totally different car weighs 3100 pounds so clearly 1800 pounds is not possible...... That button is there sou you can ask a seller a question (shipping, postage, condition etc). Its not a forum for crying out loud! third - Porsche drivers. By this I mean the a typical, mid 50's, couldnt drive a finger up his ass without hurtin himself type. Met this dude at a party in the country with a brand new one, he's braggin about his drive up there how he pushed it thru the hills etc and hit 160 whoopty f@$king doo, what a driver! only reason he's got it is cos he's impressing his country club wanker mates. My dark secret, I have '78 911sc in the shed, and I drive it like I stole it (I look like I stole it too, shaved head, hoody). I bought it cos its a sick car to drive, I've always loved em, and I love drivin it. pisses me off that I get lumped with the tosser porsche stereotype damnit.
  9. still popped 7 people and wounded 19, shit shot or not.
  10. lefty loosy righty tighty :P As long as your spanner handle is UP.
  11. its the hoddle street massacre Hoddle Street Massacre
  12. Speaking of that mate, I've been tryin to get onto you to come pick it up. I'm in no rush, I just don't wanna miss out on it :P
  13. No idea - from other posts, perhaps about 150 bucks. where to get them in melbourne though, thats a mystery.....
  14. I don't think I've ever seen a custom manifold for a 32/36 downdraft. its either use an adaptor plate, or switch to a sidedraft setup.
  15. I'd be keen to buy if you are investigating getting some of these made up.
  16. You know I'm still debating whether to keep it or not, and just get a taller diff. Its pretty cruisy to drive just point and go! haha. My other car is a tricky manual to drive, so I can have the middle ground. Which reminds me scott, I better reply to that last pm you sent me! As for the whitewalls, I just gotta find a good spot in melbs that I can get them done. any ideas people?
  17. thats what i said.
  18. Alright folks, Its about time I posted my roller up. Haven't done it yet cos I was too lazy to take a pic of it. Engine no: 3K ..... Box: 2 Speed Toyoglide! Frame No: KE16 - ....... Body No: ..... Delivery Date: ..... Paint: Burgundy (looks orange red in these crappy pics tho) Trim: ... Kms: Pending Sold By: Who else but the corolla god himself - Pete Robinson! (he was selling for a customer) Modifications: A bunch of things done prior to my ownership: - Front discs, power boosted - 3K - Mazda 13s Stereo: some JVC speakers in the doors and boot. A JVC head unit yet to be fitted. thats about it, its just for listening to the 9am news really. Future plans: -a new motor. Theres a 5k yet to be rebuilt, perhaps with an SC on it. And I'll hopefully get a new 4k and 5 speed for it this weekend. Got a mate lined up to do some head work and a new camshaft, and theres some twin SU's in the post. Its my economical runabout/second car/parts chaser/cheap "play with and learn" project. And I should be dumping it soon. Something like this: Also plan to rattle can the rims gloss black and find some nice hubbies - something different perhaps... fiesta tri bars maybe... I'll try keep this updated! Cheers, Tom.
  19. yeh aren't they Volks? My mate bought some lenso knock-offs of those and they still cost him 1700 bucks! hell knows where he gets the cash from.
  20. 4-stud patterns only of course, 5 stud patterns need a bit of guesswork... :)
  21. Guard pumping! Top idea. You'll get your clearance sorted and you'll end up with a tough looking car. My mate pumped his own guards on his ae86, bought a hammer and dolly and just started hitting. A bit of bog later, and its done. Check this LINK out If you're in adelaide, he might even do yours for cash, I know he's done a few others.
  22. yeh get it done by a pro, as it will need balancing. All you need to do is drop it off to them and tell them what length you want it at. Might as well get the unis done while you're at it too. My mate paid about 80 bucks to have a new rear uni put on and shortened.
  23. tell me more about this magical wheel alignment trick.....!
  24. like I said, I'm hazarding a guess, not coming up with hippie ideas  Fuel builds up static charge as it moves through pipes etc. Thats why petrol nozzles are earthed to ground to prevent sparking. Thats also why they ask you to fill your jerry cans on the ground and not in the boot/trailer etc, because if the charge on the can builds up enough you may create an arc across the gap. and bang..
  25. I'm just hazarding a guess here, but it might be like that deliberately to earth any static charge on the fuel. Does the wire in question connect to anything else, or is it just screwed to the body of the sender? Does the sender actually work? Having never pulled one out myself, I can't say for sure.
