Let me just say too, WD40 isn't a lubricant, you probably want a lithium grease on it. You sure it's not the spring making noise?

Last time I rang repco, all I could hear was some heavy breathing and what I suspect was somebody drooling into the phone. I'm pretty interested in a scientific explanation of this sagging issue from someone with a conclusive answer. Also, I've heard as many bad reviews on Pedders springs as I have Kings....

Anyway off topic. Comparing Ken's 3K stamp and Andy's 3K stamp, you can see the font is different. There's a missing serif on the top of the 3 on Andy's and also th K is totally different. All the K motors I've seen have that funny squished looking K. Pretty passable job though.

What power gains?? like the ones in the davies craig advertising brochure? sure it's thermostatically controlled so it's not running all the time. But how many horsepower are you talking.... .25?
-
correct me if I'm wrong though, because it's a while since I read up on it, but the heater is required if you mount in unconventional locations, like using an exhaust tip clamp, or when you have the bung a fair way from the extractors? Something to do with operating in a particular range?

Heart stopping moment last night. Going for a bit of a squirt through the windy bits and all of a sudden starts running on three.... remeniscent of breaking a valve spring!! all good, just popped off a plug lead....

haha funny you should bring that up, I tried reversing up the drive in the wagon and it just won't get up there! Jsut wheel spins and stops, even a runup wasn't enough.... gold.

plus 40 years of head facing etc etc.

yeh I looked at buying these a while ago, everyone raves about the Techedge units although their website and general presentation is.... dated. I was pretty keen on shipping an Innovate in as well, the local prices on them were shit. I reckon I read someone here on the RC had really bad experience with the innovate unit failing though. I would like to dabble with E85 some day so that was my motivation for buying one of these suckers.

structurally it's going to do bugger all, other than keep your front quarter panels the correct distance apart from one another.
-
If it's recoed yeh fine, but the point is that it's the OLDEST of all the heads out there. For 150 bucks I had my ports matched to my manifold on a 5K head and that ended up bigger than a 3KBP anyway. And the head is half the age of the 3K ones.

yeh it's overkill. 2 bolts per side would have been sufficient. I don't even know why he made you put a full loop in. Again, overkill. When I engineered my CA turbo poobird, I put a 25.4x 6.35mm strap across underneath with 4 half inch bolts, 2 each side. It's not taking bugger all weight. I know some engineers and there's plenty out there like that ....

I got a nice tidy Momo on my 911 it's an awesome wheel.

Felix, buying a house has screwed me. Next time I'm buying one with a shed! Not only that but any good weather I get on the weekends is usually occupied digging holes around the place, next house I buy will also have a tidy, established garden! haha. BUT- at least the house itself was fully renovated....

there's at least 2 in adelaide!

rob's pretty much covered your question. No there is no factory regulator. I used a Holley Red fuel pressure regulator, easily found for around 30-50 bucks. You will need a fuel pressure gauge as well, a speco one with an adaptor will mount straight to the regulator. Linkages, I would just use the redline linkage kit, take a look at my wagon engine and you'll see how it's been set up. Link in my signature.

Awesome!

I've noticed the pressure drop when cornering hard but only when I was running low on oil. Yeh baffling the sump would be a good start. Incidentally I had a crack at baffling mine when I built the motor but the lack of welder hindered me somewhat. I've got a spare and I'll probably fiddle around with baffles sometime soon.

Oh and before you go looking it up I'll save you some time, replacing the puratap filters yourself is a no go. Yeh you can probably bodge something together and prise the unit open yourself but you wont be able to buy a filter that fits the unit anyway. More than likely you'll bust the unit trying to get it open though haha!

ah man all done and going again. Gave her a little bit of TLC too. Finally got enough sunshine to get the rockershaft back in, new filter element on and fire it up. Took a while to start, battery was low on water and even with it on the charger it didn't like cranking in cool arvo air. Hooked up the lanos and cranky cranky til she kicked. Could probably do with a tune some time but she'll be right. Oil and water top up, round to the folks for a clean. Need to polish it, this poxy enamel job always oxidises, especially with a bit of moisture on it. Good flex, 7PSI in the left right all the rest good though. Need to do the front end with the rod ends and bushes I got from Dave at AJPS. all in good time. The GF goes to Alice Springs on thursday I think I'll get some time on the projects!!

I bought a one it cost me 400 grand and I got a free house with it. I'm actually pretty happy with it, the water seems tasty enough and all that. My mum bought a cheap one and it takes about 15 minutes to fill a glass whereas my puratap is damn fast. Not only that but her cheaper one didn't really save her any money, replacements filters are cheaper but clog up much much faster. I've not had my filter changed but I might call Puratap and get them round, they don't have me on their system yet cos I bought the house. One thing though - Reverse Osmosis filtration units are pretty cheap and much better, but take up space. Google it, there's some cool ones out there, 400 bucks or so.

The main thing I noticed is the balancing. On the early dellorto's there is a bleed screw on the carb that allows you to balance one throat against the other throat, which means you can actually balance all 4 throats. On mine though those ports are blanked out of the casting so you can only balance carb against carb. The later models obviously corrected the need for it.

Those tyres are cool but I don't reckon I've seen them in Aus, you guys get so much more tyre selection in the states!

BULL..... SHIT. I had to make the call. That website is good, they guy has gone into loads and loads of really long and painful details..... Fantastic. I'm running DHLA-F's (Maybe G's) and honestly the things drive great, much better than I expected when I built the motor. It makes good power for a 1500 and goes like stink. Get a a good tuner who know's dellorto's to tune it and you'll be fine. Stick with the ones you've got. Two of my observations regarding the internet: 1. Carby discussion is FULL of people telling you why this sidedraft is no good vs that sidedraft. BUT you go up to any hillclimb/track day/motorkhana and oddly enough, there's people with ALL types of carby (Dells, Webers, Solex's) spanking it round the track. 2. American forums are the worst for over academic bullshit. (although we all like to get overacademic at times.... haha)
