Forget WD40, get the 15 buck can of gasket remover, that shit is gold!

ah shady your cynicism runs rampant!

Yeh cool, cool. Sounds like the problem is more with the intersection design than anything, and there should be curfews on B doubles during peak hour anyway? There are in SA at least. See you're not the problem. You know the score, you make the call and you stick behind them. But too many people get halfway alongside you and suddenly decide that they don't like being so close to those big scary spinny wheels and they lose their shit.

Yeh the Corolla thread pitch is M16x1.5 just a tip, if you ever need to find this out, the Tridon website has a great online parts catalogue, so finding out sensor thread sizes is easy, just find your model and BAM. http://www.tridon.com.au/Products/Product....=483&P=2012 As for what Speco have available, I reckon you'll find they are all in stupid GAS/BSP sizes.

Give it 10 years though andy and nobody will be speedway racing KE30's, it'll be the next generation of cheap economical shitboxes like Excels or something. Damn, back 50 years ago, speedway guys were thrashing around in 32 ford coupes because nobody wanted them any more! They know what ethanol is - they're the ones who brought the legal maximum does down from 15 percent to 10 percent, although there are a couple of places running E85, you used to have to get them to unlock the pump for you. Ethanol isn't the be all end all solution though. As mentioned, there isnt enough arable land in the world to grow sugar cane to supply the world. Saab released a flex fuel car a couple of years ago though, it would run on any mix from 100% petrol to 100% ethanol. Until they commercialise the production of cellulosic ethanol, it's not feasible. Then there's a myriad of other problems, like Ethanol's tendency to absorb water; all you Tropics dwellers are going to go on 4 week holidays and come back to find you can't get the bloody car started and the tank is rusting from the inside out! sandshoe, you not thinking of Methanol are you? They run that in all sorts of race classes, especially the V8 crowd. Top Alchohol class in drag racing is meth not eth. BTW I'm a huge Ethanol fan, I always planned on building my 5K to run it. Trev's right, dial the timing right up and it'll run better. Although Ethanol has lower calorific value (less energy per litre) than petrol, it's effective octane rating is very high, so you can run loads of comp and advance it plenty. Efficiency is hugely influenced by Comp ratio, that's why diesels work well. Zoom had an article years back where they tuned an R32 for petrol then retuned it for Ethanol on the dyno and it made more power on Ethanol. Or maybe it was autospeed... dunno.

You do realise that this is perfectly legal? Dad drives passenger coaches and he's had a few red lighters, but they always get retracted once he requests the photo evidence, usually its just the rear axle crossing the sensor after it's red. BINGO. I've only driven rigids around town and that's a bitch. You guys need to realise that taking off at the lights in a fully loaded B double, by the time you get to the stop line, the driver has probably changed up about 8 gears, double clutching each time. Yeh yeh yeh you all say so what, you go do that, stop, do it again and see how you like it. All the way across town.... THEN throw in on top of that all the complete idiots in cars who can drive perfectly well on their lonesome but ZOMG BIG TRUCK WHAT DO I DO YUM YUM YUM YUM YUM YUM YUM YUM YUM YUM *accelerate* *sporadic lane change* *dive on the picks* *right turn*..... ....Hmmm whats that honking screeching sound?

You'll get a 7K into a ke10. Gavclassic has an uprighted 7K with twin webers in a KE15. There's a few 4AGE powered 10's getting around. 1UZFE will be a serious engineering project.

yeh he had a tantrum and cleaned out all his posts. He had some good info in his posts too, it was unfortunate.

This is an inevitability. I just hope they put in a good system to allow dedicated restorers/enthusiasts to get hold of these cars before they go to the crushers. And by dedicated enthusiasts, I don't mean 18 year olds with funny hats and a box full of falcon springs and rattlecans of flat black in their shed.

Yeh swapmeets are the way to go, just missed on on sunday down on Regency road though. Next one is in Willunga, check this page http://www.bevenyoung.com.au/car.htm#sa

Forget the GST. What do you think the Henry tax review was undertaken for! It was done to find means to reduce the number of individual taxes in our taxation system.... What did they do? Add another one to the list. he know's he's worse off right? Not only does our money devalue during the year by the tune of about 4%, but when he could be adding another 6% savings interest rate to that as well..... Anyways, if you work a solid year without overtime/unpaid leave then you'll get to FYE and unless you claim deductions, you wont get squat anyway. I love it how people assume that they will always get money back.... HECS shits me though; you get your statement in July and it lags by 12 months!

All I can say is.... take care!! Sandblasting and exuberant wire brush angle grinding can mess up a panel nicely! Looking forward to seeing progress on this though! I spotted this one on ebay as well. Nice score by the look of it!

philbey replied to BenDaMAN's topic in Rollaclub Rides
Hi Bendaman, welcome to the RC. Evan is correct, you posted in the wrong spot. don't Stress! I've moved it to the "Rollaclub Rides" section, the section for people to post up threads on their car. Just a tip, you don't need to post everytime you want to "quote" someone. Just click the quote button on each thread you wish to quote and then hit the reply button... Game on! (I've merged your 3 posts into one) Get some pics up before the mob starts screaming for them and Enjoy! -
Still doesn't explain the shifter position on the K40 though?
-
Of course it will work with a bit of modifications but what is "a bit of modifications" Expect "a bit of modifications" to include a a hell of a lot of measuring, sketching, cutting and welding.
-
haha. Where did you hear that bullshit? The K50 box is the 5 speed. The K40 is the 4 speed. There are 2 different types of K50 box, the major difference being the location of the gearshifter. Apart from that it's a straightforward swap. You will probably have to change your front universal to suit the 5 speed, especially if you start with an automatic. K50 boxes came in the KE70 and KE55 model corollas. The KE55 model has the shifter further towards the front and is probably the better choice for your KE10. These KE55 5 speed boxes are harder to find though. There are plenty of 5K's out there. Expect to pay 400-500 bucks for a running one. Look for KM36 liteaces, you can pick them up for 500 bucks with a 5K, some are 4K though so choose wisely. The 4K auto box will fit your 4K.

the E7's went to the crusher and the 86's were all stolen by crazed initial d fans.
-
Or just make your own?
-
I priced one brand new for 130 bucks. they had all models from GA-GD, different diameters, same bolt pattern. That was from a joint in Adelaide, but if you have trouble try Trade Brake and Clutch down on Princes highway springvale, seriously most useful brake joint I found when I was in melbourne.
-
Put it in and see what it does damnit! I still don't know what mine is but it's big and breaks springs and I've been driving if for 18 months! Minus 3 months for broken spring downtime.....
-
I can vouch for this car being a legitimate second owner car.
-
HAHAHA!! Even factory fresh, they've got drip trays under their K engines. Awesome.
-
it's not hard at all. Seriously. 4x114.3 has to be the commonest size out there in 4 stud. Just find the wheels you want and order them in.
-
how does having neons inside the car help you drive at night? all that interior glare helping you not see the B doubles coming the other way?
