  1. Well the car was finished in the end. We raced in the 2015 Classic Adelaide Rally but had trouble midway through the first day with fuel tank troubles. The old foam in the tank broke down with the ultimate fuel we ran. This caused all the fuel lines to be blocked and the car was just starving of fuel. All fixed that night but lost a few stages. Anyway now I am back to circuit racing in the IPRASA class and having a ball. Going to our IP Nationals at Phillip Island in November and racing with another 44 U2L cars. Hoping to do well.
  2. Still lurking around with my long list of jobs to do. Want to get back to the track but so much work to do!!!!
  3. Hi guys, KE15 - About 1.28.0 around Mallala but is been such a long time.... KE-20 - 1.22.003 Mallala KE-20 - 1.23.3 Oran Park GP KE-20 - 1.12.5 Barbagello (Long time ago) can't be quite as organised as Rob to find the natsoft links. Still building the Red beast Rob. Back soon.... Cheers David
  4. Hi John, Hoping to be there on the friday night. Not going to push as hard this year to the point of stressing parts & tyres. We had the Prologue today and i made Dad drive this year. He puts so much time into the car and i seem to have the fun so it was time to let him have some fun. It worked a treat with a slower than normal time being run. You might ask is that bad? Nope, as now we are quite early away each day and not subject to stage closures, faster cars coming up & passing you mid stage ect. Should be a good year. Just have to monitor tyre wear as coming out of tight corners today it is now quite easy to light up the rears. We cannot change tyres during the event or you get a 5 min penalty. Hope to see you at the party friday night. The "A" arm is called a Lotus A Frame and acts as a tramp bar to stop diff wind up. Can show you closer friday but need to use rubber mounts for IPRA rules. We use a solid spherical bush in the centre which is a no no in IPRA. David
  5. Oh and here is the office for the next 5 days....
  6. Another update...... Went OK at scrunineering. Found a few small things like no reversing lights working, no window washer tank installed and front indicator was not working. Nothing to serious to stop us getting approval to run. The car was then weighed in at 850kg's. The drive home was interesting as i smelt fuel and the car started to missfire a bit. Pulled over and popped the bonnet to see that the fuel banjo going into the rear weber had worked out!!!. It was pissing fuel everwhere. So turned off and waited for the service crew to come with some washers to replace the lost items. Car fire narrowly diverted. Then it was noticed that the changing of 5th back to 4th was still getting to be real difficult. So pulled the gearbox and replaced one of the internal syncho guides. Perfect now. Next problem was the A frame was making a "clunck" sound under hard accelation. Found some free play in the centre bearing location point on the diff. Fixed that one as well. So if all goes well we should be on the Prologue approx 1.00pm tomorrow. Should get some good camera footage as i have just added another camera to the front bumper bar. This gives it the go-cart feel of being on the ground - fast. Will post this on U-tube hopefully tomorrow. Hoping for a problem free event. DMC
  7. Here Tis..... Pictures show the middle intermediate plate (full 1 pc intake/exh profile) and this has 3 dowel pin's locating them all in alignment. This allowed the porting to be done to both head and then intake/exhaust manifolds each seperatly. When bolted together it all fits for a perfect flow. Also the fixed up fuel pump system with new pump ect. Its all the small things that make a difference. DMC
  8. Hi All, Just thought i would update you on the final testing of our KE15 for this year. Just had it down at Four Performance at Parafield for its final tune and check. See one of the runs on You tube: We ended up finding out that the fuel pump was faulty which stopped the 4psi of fuel pressure needed for webers. It was running at about 1.5Psi which shows up on long power runs with the weber fuel bowl running dry, this then started to lean out the mixture at the high end. This was fixed with new fuel pump which should now maintain the pressure required. Bloody amazing what Dyno's can show when you are testing on them. The final power figure was about 105 Bhp at the rear wheels. Most importantly the torque figures were up about 25% from last year. We custom made our intake manifold with a intermediate plate which allows porting from both sides. When bolted up with location dowel's this all matched up perfectly. Another set of ceramic coated extractors were also used this year which should keep temps down. Anyone out watching the rally in SA in approx 2 weeks time come and say hello. David
  9. Very Clean... What model / brand is the front spoiler?? Availible local SA? Keep up the good work. I hopefully will be back at the track in 08 with another KE20 chasing you around!!! David McK.
  10. Cool car. Just need to lower the whole thing by about 2" and it would look totally awesome!!! keep up the mighty KE20 tradition!!!!! DMC :D
  11. Its bright RED now and the photos don't really show this as what your eyes do. Just back from painting and now starting to re-assemble. This one wont make it in this years classic so will be using the KE15 as suspected. Hopefully can get some leave from work and really get stuck into the project. David
  12. Hi Dale, We have a "Fitch the rubber man" in Adelaide who supplied me mine. Cost $5 / m. Fits perfectly, and hides any gaps. DMC
  13. Hi Guys, I have built about 8 or so 2T-G / 3T-G over the years. Great engine to work on for the power you get from them. Add Webers and the wisco piston kit to the 3T block and this brings it out to approx 1940cc's. I purchased the 304 & 288 TRD cams, increased the compression to about 10.5 : 1 and ported the head out rather large (this is where the most power is gained) to get it to breath. It revs up to 8000 all day and the engine puts out about 200 hp / flyweel. Put this into a 800kg KE20 and its scary !!. Great fun on the track. DMC
  14. I love the tuned length extractors. Are they the TRD ones? Also is that a compressor for an airconditioner is see located in the engine bay. Has the car an after market A/C unit? Love the overall condition  . Hoping to get my one looking as neat! DMC
  15. Its getting there...... Its been a slow road as most re-builds are. I have just made the decision to ramp up the work level and get a professional involved. I was looking at where to get my car painted and i noticed a sign post on the next street from where i live. It had " Paint & Panel" so i called the guy. He came around with his son and looked over the car as i explained what i needed done. It turned out he is a panel beater / painter by trade and has just gone back to working on cars again from his home buisness. He looker over my train wreck and took an interest in a charity case for the year!!. So now it's in his shed getting the flares fitted / final rub down and then painted inside & out. So shortly the pics will be of the shell looking a bit cleaner than these ones. Will keep ya posted! DMC
  16. Hi All, Another clip added to good old you tube. Just testing out the car before last years event. Trouble is that i could not hook up an external mic to record the sound so music will have to do. Here is the one for Gorge Road leading into corkscrew road. Not quite a drifting session and the bloody Quad box had a camera lose its power so i lost the Picture in Picture set up. For those that know the road it makes interesting footage. The KE20 is at the paint shop next week so will post the updates when this comes back. Keep Rollin DMC :jamie:
  17. Hi Redwarf, Did you end up finding the name of the place in NZ that sells the ratios / LSD for the T series? Would be interested to contact them with regards to prices for these. Any leads would be appreciated. Do you know the axle dia difference between the t series and the mazda (model ???) version.? thanks David
  18. Hi Mat, Have emailed the pages form the workshop manual on 2T-G engines. The manual itself is quite large so if you need any other help in other area's just pm / email me. Hope this helps. If anyone else would like a copy i could Zip it up and post it somewhere on here where it should belong. Let me know if it was helpful or not. DMC.
  19. Another night.. Another down Load. I have just added Gorge Road to the list of incar footage from the 2006 event. . I also put a copy of the crash i had in 2000 our first year of doing the event. We ran a K series 1100cc donk with huge gut wrenching power!!! See 3 minutes into the film how fast some corners come up. Have never crashed since that year and never want to again. At least the front end was changable with a KE10 front cut. DMC :jamie:
  20. Well speaking from someone who runs them in both our KE-15 & KE20 they are an excellent conversion. We have just purchased another set for the new car so i will let you know what model they came from as my Dad has just purchased them last saturday. The nice thing about this conversion is that you can upgrade to 4 pots and still fit them all inside a 13" rim with ventilated discs. For a light car we ran a modified set of Pagid pads and we have done 3 Classic's in them and they would have worn approx 2mm. See photo for the front of the KE15. They feel great on the Pedal!!! DMC
  21. Retro, Its the K series and its in the KE15. The 3TG is going to be run in the KE20 once i get my bum into gear and start doing some major work. I also will add some of the IPRSA races from my current KE20. They make good viewing mixing it with all the rotaries Turbo's and V8's. Will post when some of these are added. DMC
  22. Yeah. Why not. You wont be able to rent it at your local video store. i made it to give to a few sponsors. Will be availible next week. Probably better to drop in at my work and pick it up. Seing it is at elizabeth and your at Salisbury or i can post out. DMC.
  23. Ooops.. Forgot to add the dyno footage page.... Sounds great out on the open road!!!! DMC
  24. Hi All, Just added some of my incar footage on U-Tube from last years event. Forgot to switch the mic on during the prologue so added some music and Willunga hills just a short blast. Will be adding Gorge road (cork screw road) soon - such a blast that road with no cars coming the opposite direction. And Have just finished editing my DVD showing about 14 stages. Looks good on a big plasma with the sound turned up. DMC.
  25. No worries, I can scan the pages to .pdf from the manual with the timing of top chains to the dummy cam shaft to the bottom end. It shows where all should be when you set your engine at TDC. What email address do you want it sent to? DMC.
