  1. At this point, mine. It's lacking grunt and I don't know why. :blinks: Cheers R
  2. Bugger me, is it only (possibly) going to Burpers? I thought you meant somewhere far away...... (where I'm not sure.) 2nd is achievable, but logistically hard. the other 2 dates are much better. Cheers R P.S: Mel's going dirt rallying, therefore the rather low clearance on the Dustbin is.... well...... bad. (at this point, if I was competent, I would insert Fook's photo of the mighty Datto..... !) :blinks:
  3. Leave it all alone. Take it out, flog it, take it home. :blinks: Just make sure your battery is tight, and the terminals taped up. Don't be overly concerned with anything else. Go out and have fun. I wish I as coming too. Cheers R P.S: next week end as in 25th and 26th. R
  4. Fook, my trailer is at your command. 1st, 8th and 9th of Nov are bad for me though. I get to watch Melinda race/ crash the Dwarf those weekends. Cheers R
  5. I know what you mean. Last week I was the proud short term owner of a well worn but still good and running 260Z. It's to good to wreck. Hmmmm, new Dwarf maybe? :blinks: I could always buy it back..... :greenclap: Cheers R
  6. If nobody minds, if anyone is still interested, I think it was meant to be this Saturday, could we postpone until the following weekend, either day??? Sorry Guys, R
  7. QUOTE (TOMsGPTurbo @ Oct 8 2003, 09:19 AM) how much could hey do mine for ? Tom What have you got? R
  8. I agree with doing belts every 100000k, but timing chains on K motors don't generally give trouble. If it's giving a problem (noisy), no worries, whip it out and change it, but changing it for change's sake is not worth it. Unlike a belt, chains are really "talkative" and will let you know when they flog out. They give you a lot of warning. I'm only trying to save people from work. :blinks: Valve stem seals: they're a little rubber seal that prevents oil from flowing down from the top of the head, down your valve stems, and, therefore out your exhaust. To replace them means removal of valve springs, and, to be honest, if you're going that far, you may as well do the whole head. I have a guy in Redcliffe who does all my heads. Cheers R
  9. What's all the excitement with timing chains? I've only ever changed one, and that was when I built a new motor. I have never heard of one letting go.... Cheers R
  10. If we're fair dinkum it's a day job for everything. And that's with change over head. (Of which I have a number of spares...) I think I have a number of camshafts around, too. No, you can't have my Wade 169x cam. :nono: Cheers R
  11. Fook, on your car we could do a head replacement in under 2 hours, all things going well. The quickest I've seen a head off and on on a K motor was 45 minutes. Timing chain could take a bit longer, but is also achievable.... anything is possible! :blinks: Cheers R
  12. Virtually identical, except one has a longer stoke than the other, and (I think) the block is 10mm higher. Bolt in change over, although use the original flywheel and clutch if you can. you can use the later one, but it requires a small amount of farting around with the clutch fork and cable. The hard bit is finding a decent 4K these days. Cheers R
  13. Hmmm, do the words "valve stem seals" sound familiar? If so, you may as well pull the head off and get the whole head done. Biggish job. Cheers. R
  14. Jealousy will get you nowhere. :greenbutt: 18th of Oct is free for me, in between events, and wife still OS. I reside in sunny Aspley. Numbers may have to be limited, as only have two bays and a steep driveway. Any idea on what people want to do?? Cheers Rob
  15. Here as in my place, home of Dwarf and part time home of Dustbin, etc. (And heavy engineering workshop for Fooks!) Enough space for a small scale operation? R. P.S: Picked up the new Pajero today, too! :blinks:
  16. Something small time could be done here.... Fook, what do you think? R
  17. Lockers illegal? Yes. Very. This isn't my daily drive though. If it goes more than 15 minutes from the house, it generally goes on a trailer. Cheers R
  18. I'm still running the standard diff in the Dwarf, albeit a 4.4:1 locked. The diffs are actually very strong, the weak point being the axles, of which I have a number of buggered ones. Am contemplating an RX3 diff, I'll let you know what happens. Unless you're putting out a genuine 100hp + flywheel neddies (and that's one hell of a 4K), look at doing something else. I don't know if you've done the front brake conversion, but there is a great place to start. :P LSD's are like rocking horse crap, have only seen one in 11 years for a KE20, and a good locker is as good as a mini spool. Cheers R
  19. Let's see..... No, No, Yes, No. Better off getting a complete unit and doing it wholesale that way. Just because they're both A series engines, doesn't mean things are interchangable. R
  20. In a KE20 there's not much point. The best thing you can do is put a better brake master cylinder in. I currently run a Suzuki Swift one, but am about to put an RX2 one in, to see how that goes. If you can lock up your brakes fairly easily, you don't need a booster. That's the beauty of a car that weighs bugger all! Cheers R P.S: Apologies for sounding like a smart arse!
  21. 14th? That be a Thursday? Count me in Fook, when do you want the dollars? (I may even be forced to take the Dwarf for a run...) R
  22. MMMMmmmm...3k engine.... 7k rpm, 4th gear, 4.5 diff, rally tyres..... Brain hurts thinking about the math, but i believe it to be about 160 ish (115mph indicated, but don't believe everything you see!!)
