  1. Yeah I was looking for more up market tires. I've been looking at the $120 - $150 range Azenis ST-115, Potenza GIII, Yokohama A539 etc Hmm wonder how much a set of A032R is??? :)
  2. Chasing some new tires for my new rims. 185/60 or 185/55 and around 150 each. What are your reccomendations? Also where to shop would be nice also.
  3. Some good ideas here. I'd like to keep the costs down so engine swaps are out of the question. Like I said its more of learning experience and for the "waah pshh" wank factor. Whats the going rate for one of those weber carbs? Just trying to sort out the cost of the job.
  4. So, while I was over at peteys the other day I was f@$king around with this CT12 he's had sitting in his garage for months and it got me thinking... Now your probably thinking right now, "Oh no hes going to bolt it onto his 4AGE" right? But that would be the rational thing to do now wouldn't it? Have I ever been known to think rationally? I propose...... The 4A-CT. Yes, you heard right. Now i can source the main parts like the turbo, IC for cheap. (read nothing) but things like blow-throuh carby, manifold, water/oil lines, piping etc i'll have to shell out for. Now. What are people thoughts on this idea. I'm not chasing big power or anything. Just a modest increase and the obvious turbo wank factor. But it has to be on the cheap. I also need ideas on what carby to use (ie 626 turbo) Can it be done or have I been smoking too much crack?

22-re has low down torque and umm.... low down torque. They're a low revving truck motor. The head is quite restrictive by design, but there is potential there. Not really suited to a corrolla though.
  6. Having a thin tire streched over a wide rim stiffens up the sidewall a bit. Which gives a good feel when drifting. The 185 on a 9j look you see on those bozo mobiles is just so they can fit their massivly wide rims with stupidly low offsets under their guards.
  7. pfft weak I'd put 185's on an 8 if i had em It's all about the strech. Also car is going lower this weekend.
  8. Yep, got the centercaps. I think they look better without. mmm the car actually feels nice to drive again. I'm torn between risking driving around on bald tires that feel good and driving around on legal tires that don't have the same feel. I'm actually enjoying the lack of absolute grip. Wouldn't mind seeing how they go in the wet. :) Any reccomendations for tires after this set. Preferably a 175, 185, 195 in a 55/14 profile.
  9. Dubs.
  10. any other takers???? :)
  11. Wanna do this so bad. Must. Find. Navigator.
  12. mmm toight racks </spam>
  13. I was tossing up whether to use my current coilovers in the blue car and just replace the shock with my new ones. But I'm pretty sure the current strut is standard length which wont work with my new short strokes without a big ass spacer.
  14. haha am I really that bad? :) :D :blinks:
  15. Sounds like a 4afc. Twin cam carby.
  16. I'm reaaaalllly f@$king southside.... More commonly known as the gold coast.
  17. I've picked up some pretty blue and gold anodised sleeves from fulcrum for my front struts but I'm baffled as to how they are actually attached. They look like they're made of alloy so they can't be welded to the strut. Are they press fit or do you need to attach a steel collar of some kind to hold it in place? I noticed Fook was using the same product but i can't see how its attached to the strut. Any ideas?
  18. Finally have all the bits and peices to make an engine work! woop. So it all starts going back together tommrow. Now I just need a Starter motor, RWD intake, flywheel, water pump, fuel system, clutch and the list goes on. Then i need to wire it up.... much fun to be had. Then i need to get the suspension sorted..... and diff.... WILL IT EVER END????
  19. As promised some pics of my red car. As you can see, interiors are overrated. Front on The block is back from the machinist Head Job Asparagus
  20. gah f@$k this everything else is fine. No problems at all, just the 3rd -> 2nd shift just wont happen. No grinding, just wont slot into gear.
  21. After a couple of mis-shifts while at skidpan, the change from third to second has become very difficult at any speed over 40 km/h. rev-matching or double clutching doeset help. Have I f@$ked a syncro or somthing or could it be something else?
  22. Nobody move! I have 30kg of plastic explosive strapped to my body. Oh wait wrong hi-jacking.
  23. Two vice grips make a cheap line lock kit. :)
  24. I didnt think toyota doubled up the character to determine how many turbos/blowers were hanging off it? eg. 3S-GTE = Single 2JZ-GTE = Twin as opposed to Nissan SR20-DET = Single RB26-DETT = Twin
