  1. and what about the car people who are sooo simple (ie myself) and love shiny-shiny??
  2. these are definately 5 x 114.3 and i'd to like to see some ms123 wheels on this, the early hubcaps don't suit it IMO.
  3. saw a white e7 (didn't pay attn) with green p's, big twin tips and sticker of some description on rear window, going past pacovale station ~5:45 tonite
  4. ^^ you sure that was the parking lot, and they weren't just placed in the nissan isle??! :D
  5. do you mean with H plates Boo?? or just coming along for the chat?
  6. so in other words, get to rt40 up and running asap. (it's already really high, and it does run, but Valvoline)
  7. and in your opinion, would the whale make it without scraping?
  8. not an actual pic, but pretty much what it's like. PacoVale is good, nice relaxing ride to and from the city, bottl'o on the corner and a coles too. 500m from train station, and the PacoVale Hotel across from it :D two single car garages and an indoor/outdoor area for the cats to shit in! i'll ride the pushie out your way sometime after settling in....we'll say after the datto is finished so i can go for a blat in it :D
  9. static drop there sunshine, none of this airbagged/laying rail only when i'm parked!
  10. what resurrection??? once you make it safe to drive on the road, it'll be getting historic plates and she'll be enjoyed by one and all. certainly won't be a couple of thousand $$$ and a few months rebuild.....unless you're donating your time for free of course and we slot a 3rz in :)
  11. so, it's been a few months since the last update. not much has happened with the whale, but alot has happened around it. new wheels finally arrived after christmas, more accurately, they arrived at my door 10 days before Picnic at Hanging Rock. so with a bit of hassle, ringing around, and a mate doing the leg work, i managed to get them fitted with some very slightly stretched rubber and put on the car the day before P@HR. i managed to forget my elderly tags, even when my new ones arrived on the wednesday. too busy focused on the wheels me thinks :( since HR, it's been sitting quietly in the carport until this saturday, when it was fitted full of boxes and blankets and a free-roaming cat (that decided the best place for it to sit and whinge was at the front of the drivers seat underneath my legs) while we moved from the country to the big smoke. Bacchus Marsh to Pascoe Vale the move went well and the whale now has a single garage all to herself. the place we're in now has a one car garage either side of the residence. now, the other one was sposed to house the partners '04 IS300, but instead, i've bought an RT40......wasn't planned, just saw it on a backroad while looking for a restaurant on saturday night, called the seller on sunday arvo, handed some folding over an hr later, and Harriet will be driven home later today. immediate plans are a service, clean and thorough check inside and out for any possible spots of annoyance in the coming years. initial inspection revealed nothing major, speedo bounces around and the headlights/indicators stopped working during the test run, slight external rust along bottom of bootlid and both front guards but hasn't broken through. no rust around the boot edges (which i'm surprised at, given the car came from tassie originally....) so i'm just crossing my fingers for the time being. link to RT40 thread HERE.
  12. ***MY CAR LOOKS WORTHLESS IN PICS*** Here's the gumtree ad i discovered after i bought it. View it while it's still up.
  13. so, i moved house the weekend just gone, 15-16 May. neither of us had any energy to attempt making our own dinner after spending all day loading and unloading crates, so we piled into the IS300 and took off in search of sustenance. being a completely new area for us, i decided to do some back-road touring to help familiarise myself with the area. i knew the major roads and roughly where i needed to be, so i turned one street early here, a couple late there, follow these tram tracks for a bit...drove past a KE26 4dr and a KE55 4dr directly opposite each other down a side street (the 26 was in worse condition to the one we had and the 55 was a spitting image for my partners coupe, except for the 4 doors obviously), and then a matte black toyota coaster bus, with "Betty" painted on in vintage fighter style, and an RT40 with a cardboard forsale sign with $300 and a phone number on it. we kept going and arrived at dinner, had a lovely couple of chicken meals at Curry Madras in Northcote, and figured i'd head back to the RT40 and take the number down and see if it was still available tomorrow. sunday comes and we spend the morning at CC&D talking smack and drinking, trying to kickstart the body to function as we've gotta head back to the old place and do some more carting and cleaning. eating rubbish food for two days doesn't help keep a sharp mind, so come nightfall i still haven't called about the RT40. i get out there, chat for a bit, get the history on it, go for a drive, check out the interior, no major rust i can find, tell him once i sort out storage i'll come back and grab it. got back home, told the wife about it, saying it's worth buying for $300 but i can't store it anywhere at the moment. she then says (bless her heart) that i can clean the small garage and park it there, leaving the IS300 out in the weather. so i move stuff around to fit the RT40 and drive back out to sign papers and hand over some folding. come monday night, i ride from work on my bike to where the car is waiting for me to take it home, put the unreg permit on the dash, fire it up via the push button start, and proceed home with no lights along one of the busiest multilane roads and about 20 sets of traffic lights between myself and home. ended up back home safely with only a couple of issues showing themselves....front brakes need looking at, needs a new speedo cable/possibly a new cluster, wiring needs attention, needs more mexican rugs, definately needs a proper scrub and vacuum. so that's about where i'm at...after downsizing living quarters and gaining two single garages, i acquire a new machine within 48hrs of signing paperwork and have the best wife in the world!
  14. he had only put the sign up after lunch that day and it was the first time in my life that i'd driven down that street.....i <3 co-in-ki-dinks!!
  15. drove past a ke26 (well beaten with panel damage) and a ke55 (the same as my partners old coupe 'cept with 4 doors) on opposite sides of the street in the northcote area on satday night. also went past an rt40 that WAS up for sale on satday, then wasn't when i drove by again sunday night......
  16. go forth and be amazed parrot! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QH2-TGUlwu4
  17. ke70's were CS (which could be optioned up to the XX), SE and S ae71's were only CS-X (in my experience)
  18. you identified the CS-X badge, that should've been enough to determine it was an AE71.
  19. what day you planning on visiting stu?? need a co-pilot!!
  20. if you want to make a truely outstanding car, you need to start with the best possible example you can come across.......... buy a rusty bucket for $200 and spend $10k on restoring it....... buy a $7k car and spend $3k on 'upgrades'......... similar price, but i know which one i'd rather do/buy/see done. and it doesn't involve rust. :D
  21. and that is where the problem lies.......
  22. the local supermarket is selling 6 packs for $10, haven't checked if they do it by the slab.
  23. i can normally find DP somewhere when i'm out and about, but have recently discovered my local independant supermarket has a small US Confectionary section, which has 6 and 10 packs of import carbonated beverages. DP and Cherry Coke amongst candy like Reeses PBC.....
