  1. how close are you to rego and driving now? interested in going to the torquay rotary show together?
  2. hmmmm, i wonder if i can convince katie that we need to do more driving so soon after returning to the big island........
  3. i chopped a tree down the other week, and when i went to the physio for thumb-rehab (i cut the tendon 2 months before the visit) she saw the huge hole i'd ripped along the side and just said "i don't want to know, just tell you didn't do more damage to your tendon."
  4. getting closer.....any others up for meat and greet?? how's those maps coming along Taz?!
  5. since this is a place you're most likely gonna check, i did find pics of techno SHADOW wheels.....but alas, i can't find any for sale of the 4 or 5 stud variety :(
  6. pfft, you can't eat parma's........unless they're naked!
  7. I'll have to wake up at 6am if i'm going to have any chance making it by 10:30 in the crown :P
  8. are you arranging to drive down or fly......that's the most important bit.
  9. and where was this input during yoda and my PM's ??? ;) list of roads would be greatly appreciated. i'm sure we'll be hard pressed to find a bad road, it's much better knowing that i won't end up driving on 4wd tracks by 'accident' (have done it before and would do it again...just not with the missus in the car) i'm not fussed either way, just so long as they can cook a good medium/rare steak for the missus! if those that are interested in coming wanted to vote on which they'd prefer......or yoda can rule with an iron fist and decide!
  10. don't worry your pretty little head about it Matt, i'll be thinking of you all (for about 2 seconds) while i'm driving around Tassie for a week! ;) :D
  11. i wasn't going to be able to make the 10/10, and i can't also make the 17/10......for similar reasons. except the second reason is better than the first.
  12. i'll just say that it'll be dinner, sometime after 6pm (7pm at the absolute latest), with drinks and stuff either at the Jailhouse, or up the road at another establishment (TBC). dF oh, and direct all questions to Yoda....i've got a honeymoon to plan. :D
  13. for a pair of new bilsteins for the front of my crown cost me $360 to my door. these were sourced o/s, only because the two places i went to in vic never got back to me after 3 phone calls and a visit to the first place (discussing costs and waiting times), and 2 phone calls to the second (again, cost and waiting times). i had P/N already.
  14. but whenever aust day is, the cruise will always be the w/e before or after.....
  15. write some letters to the federal govt asking them to move aust day a few months forward.......
  16. when is it???
  17. cheers Taz. i'm sure the hire car will *love* some targa stages....esp cos i'll be encouraging the wife to do a bit of the driving. she loved driving the IS250 along the GOR last year, so it won't be hard to persuade her. i was thinking of getting together with a bunch of you down there for dinner, as we'd be getting into launy saturday arvo. is there anyone keen on doing the organising (restaurant for dinner/drinks, drinks can be at separate place) for the 16th Oct in Launy??
  18. the late ke2x series (ke20, ke25 and ke26) came with disc brakes on the front. you can just take the whole strut (from top hat to disc and hub) and swap if for your current strut. or you can just swap the assembly that goes on the stub axle. (remove the drum and install the backing plate/caliper/disc/hub)
  19. do you remember an ad for (insert some aussie brand) where they talked about "australian thinking" or some such....and one of the tag lines was "i like to think of the world being upside down, and australia's on top". ever since then, i think of tassie being the crown that sits on the top of australia's head!
  20. Hey all, during the middle of Oct, my partner (will-be wife) and i are heading on up to tassie for a week of relaxed travel and siteseeing. flying into hobart and hiring a car for the 8 days we'll be there/here (fly-in Tuesday noon-ish, fly-out tuesday evening). while it might be a flying visit (geddit), we're not after a wham-bam-thankyou-ma'am tour de everything (we're not keen on doing any actual tours or skiing, but are up for a couple of nice walks/drives along/thru mountains with sweeping views.) and while i'm happy covering vast distances via car experiencing the roads, the lady would like there to be lots of lady-like happenings. current thinking is: Hobart -> Strathgordon -> Strahan -> Burnie -> Devonport -> St Helens -> Swansea -> Hobart how long we spend in any one town/area isn't limited, and the only place i really know of to visit is Cradle Mountain.... ( :) ignorant mainlander :) ) so whatever you think would be a good thing for us to do, post it up! looking forward to suggestions/ideas. cheers dF
  21. who's bloody idea was it to make Bathurst that weekend?!?! i also can't make this, but for reasons other than Bathurst.
  22. ^^^^ HELL F@%KEN YEAH!!!!!!!!! what's the retail on one of those??
  23. haha. if i were to do that, it'd be a waste to just do one of the fleet. the ke55 would look horrendous....i know what 26 USDM bars look like, and i DO actually like those. i'll hunt some USDM MS65 pics today and try and talk Katie into them :D and upon finding what they look like.....it'd be a waste of effort, they're just tiny vertical rubber bits mounted to a chrome surround. they look very similar to the rubber bits on the Series 1 MS65 front and rear bars, but are actually screwed into the bars, and it's not worth wrecking my nice (semi) straight bars for those useless additions. if they were like the celica "safety" bars i was very keen on getting some....but alas :bash:
  24. passenger side up near the firewall, should be mounted to the inner guard area. control cable comes from just above where the hoses go thru the firewall to the core. inlet (water feed from engine) from underneath, outlet 90 degree up the top, has a swing arm at the top that's cable operated to open/close the tap. http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_E_1978_TOYO...5R-KB_8716.html P/N: 87240-30271 http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_G_1983_TOYO...EHQEQ_8716.html P/N: 87240-30340 hopefully that gives you an idea of what it looks like. best of luck hunting :(
