  1. the one where the car's on the road, that looks like a big cheesy grin? how much?!!
  2. Jip: man, that grille in the second photo is the sex...i want one!! any ideas on where to find one??
  3. It's great too see so many new faces with old rolla's... even better to know that they aren't being sold to scrapyards and destroyed! speaking of which, my 20 is a few steps closer to owning its place on the road... it's mechanically sound now, no leaks anymore. still needs 2 tyres and wheel alignment and gotta hook the heater up too (silly people replaced the water pump and didn't bother about the heater) today's another day i'm spending cleaning her up, windows and interior again, there's a lovely film of grease on the inside of my windscreen courtesy of the mechanics and subzero temperatures in the west :( WEBERS: i think i speak for everyone here, you need to get yourself an old rolla again :D drop the VH idea (i know you won't), find a nice old sprinter, bolt on your webers and away you go :D :) :D we know you want to, and you do too...
  4. hey all, was wondering if anyone could help me out with details of the QLD ATD. i'm gonna get the ball rolling again for a victorian one, but i really have very little idea on what needs to be done. who actually organises the ATD?? all help is greatly appreciated :P cheers, dfunkt
  5. saw a red ke55 hardtop going down ashley st in braybrook around lunchtime today. looked worse for wear with panel damage.
  6. i've currently got the standard taillights on my '80 ke55 hardtop, and was wondering if the sedan lights of the earlier model ke55 sedan (the ones with the round reversing light and red reflector) will be a straight swap?? if not, what will i need to modify to make them fit? thanks dfunkt
  7. What the hell are you doing up at quarter past 7 on a sunday... or is it bedtime now as you've been up all night?? yeah, i know i'm posting kinda early too, but i've still got more work to do on mine and katie's cars. spent thursday evening putting in my new carpet and seats into the yellow 55, thanks pixelated goat and pozman  yesterday was spent making a new parcel shelf for the 20 (which is still looking for an appropriate name), putting the roadworthy wheels on and giving it a major clean; pulled all the seats out, katie cleaned those for me; drove to the local carwash place and vacuumed the entire car, (i had the front seats still in at the time). and today i'm gonna try and hook up katie's aerial, i dunno what i need to do but i'm sure i'll figure it out :bash:
  8. unsure on the model, but there was a silver wagon with personalised plates (LITZEN) turning right from canterbury rd onto springvale rd last wednesday around 4pm, and then there was a yellow 4dr 55 turning right into canterbury rd from springvale rd.
  9. twas indeed an awesome day had, including driving from 9:30am til 10:00pm :D now the hunt begins for some decent western roads... cheers webers and kickn5k for the tour of the south east.
  10. yeah, i'll agree with nobbler to the fuel economy. driving an el falcon for a few months, i was getting 9kms per liter, driving like a grandma ;) if i went hard, i'd be lucky to get 7.5km/L :bash: the rolla is getting about 13 atm.
  11. ok, even more news, looks like i'm going up to the block also. its about 30mins from shepparton. both my missus and i are leaving friday nite and then coming back sunday morning to join the cruise, after i've talked about it so much, she couldn't help but come along ;) on sunday, we'll be coming down the Hume, then heading east along the Metro Ring, then going as straight south as possible along the Greensborough hwy - Burke rd down to the Monash, to either the Oakleigh or Lyndhurst meet point. our last clean point will be friday before we leave to go up there, so is there anyone willing to help us out with a shit/shower/shave beforehand? it's no hassle for us to take a detour along the way. cheers Tate
  12. still kinda new, but more importantly, new car. Barry Crocker is the newest edition to the family. He's yellow, rusting out along the rear wheel arches, along the roof sill, the passenger side of the rear windshield, and there's a hole immediately behind the right rear wheel arch (curse toyota's for letting water in through the bottom corners of their rear windshield), the interior belonged to a dog (he was white, fluffy and barked at me alot) so it's in need of replacing and it had a rear louvre which i might be re-installing if i can be bothered remounting the points on the rear windshield. I havn't yet got a roadworthy, i need to get the rust fixed, a new drivers seat and seatbelt (thanks doggie), the steering column moves up and down a bit, and the stupid box surrounding the steering column rotates a bit...but hopefully it'll be on the road by friday and all for less than $2000. dfunkt
  13. news update from me :) i managed to sell the demon falcon...found a great owner in sunbury who'll love it like we all love our rolla's. it went thursday arvo, and i picked up a fair condition ke55 in yellow. while it's nothing compared to audrey, what with the stalling and spluttering, the rust and missing trims...you can't knock back a cheap coupe  the missus is going up to a mates country block next w/e, so she won't be needing her car, but i still havn't convinced her to let me bring it. if i can get the yellow bucket RWC and REG'D by friday, i'll at least have something to tail everyone else in (and by tail, i mean about 2kms behind as you all go racing off in the distance :D) i'll try and get a post up with the horrid pics of my yellow bucket later today, just gotta get it looking "top notch" dfunkt
  14. going home today (3:30ish), at the end of hampstead road just before ballarat rd, a mid-blue RA2X. saw the nose come around the corner of the servo sign, slowed to avoid the bumper in front, rubber-necked and caught the tail-lights, missed the rego plates
  15. i'm sitting on the fence for this one currently. the missus is adament that i won't be taking the ke55, and i've had some bites on my xr6, so i might not even have a car to drive :y: i'll keep working on it don't worry dfunkt
  16. cheers felix :)
  17. my new dream car is leaking oil out the drivers side in the middle of the cylinders (between the middle two) wondering what the best fix would be: 1. just replace the gasket 2. machine the head and replace the gasket also would anyone have suggestions on reputable old toyota mechanics? seeing as i'm from the western suburbs of victoria, something in the area would be preferred *looks at the victorian members* cheers Tate
  18. G'day one and all, i'm Tate. I (meaning my missus) just bought a KE55, and my mate is on the supra forums, and he hooked me up with this site, so i thought why not, and joined up  i really dunno what else to put in here, so i'll go on a little rant... my first corolla was a KE70, which my parents bought new back in march '84. was a daily driver for my mum since about '88. when i got my L's, i drove it to school and back every day for 2 1/2 yrs (mid 2000-end 2002). i then inherited it after i came back from an O/S trip late '03. went thru several 2nd hand heads and a second hand 4K-C before finally 'retiring' (read - blew the engine) it in dec '04. have been carless until nov '06 when i bought my bosses EL XR6 cheap, with the hope to sell it and buy another rolla, but i still havn't sold it :jamie: and while i've been looking for a KExx coupe, my missus was rear-ended and had her '94 lancer written-off. so with the little money she got from her insurance company, we managed to find a very well loved '81 KE55 for $1200 Audrey i think that's enough for now, look forward to talking/meeting you all over the coming months dfunkt
