Hey guys, I have sourced a new tail light and surround for the car and dropped it down to the panel beaters the other day. They are powering through the work and think it will be painted by the end of next week! :D The bumper re-conditioners are still closed and so that is likely to hold things up. If I can source another bar they suggested I use that whilst they are getting the old bar repaired (the rest of the chrome is m-int on my bar). I will post up some pics of the repair when I get them from my brother, we saw them pulling the rear end straight through the bumper anchor points, cool stuff! I have been working hard on the MR in the meantime and it now has a new clutch and the brakes have been over-hauled. I will start a thread for it fairly soon but the general idea will be a club motorsport/fun car rather than a neat streeter (the paint is not perfect). Cheers, Dougal

The damage; My chosen repairer has quoted Shannon's $4,000 for the work, he said the bent boot floor is the main reason for this. I'm sure his job will be of top quality, I'm just worried about whether the other driver's insurance company will give us grief or not... Man this sucks. I know it hasn't been on the road long, but I really miss driving it particularly with the nice new exhaust note :/ On a positive note I scored this for a bargain; Goes pretty well with an SC14 ;) Plans; > Fit HD clutch (current one slips as soon as you make any boost) >Overhaul brakes with new EBC reds/rotors/wheel bearings >RWC >15x8 gold meshies >Coilovers >Hillclimbs/Motokahna/Hills fun I'm going to get stuck in over the next few weeks off work, try to take my mind off the KE20 damage!

So this was going to be a happy post about how I'm really stoked about my new 2 inch exhaust system.... But then some bitch ran up my arse as I turned into a mate's driveway on a quiet suburban street! More details to come, car will be off the road for a bit :/

Great pics Jimi, cheers! Well guys I have been working away some more, but no pics as yet. General maintenance/servicing has been on the cards and I'm getting my exhaust done next week. Still need to finish the stereo and pull the 5k down so I can do the cam/head etc. Just saw the thread today, seriously humbled to be nominated for COTY! :o Thanks heaps! :y:

Thanks for the kind words guys, and cheers for the pics Adam! :y: We will have to get some more Vic meets happening as the weather improves. I know Matt was suggesting another Sorrento cruise like the one we had a few years back... -

Damn, what did they do you for? Would have been keen to see your car in the flesh. -
Cheers mate! I used contact adhesive all the way around the edges. Plenty of bulldog clips and old pinchweld help you to get an even tension the whole way around whilst you install it and the glue dries.

Nice wheel choice mate ;) Coming on well, keep us updated.

Bump for an awesome event that's just over a week away! I now have a flyer in my 1/4 window and have put posters up around the office, hopefully we get a big turnout! :wootjump: -
Thanks guys! i have really been enjoying driving the car, headed for a hills run with mates last night in the great weather. :D It really reminded me how I need to sort the power/brakes etc soon though! I did a bit of work on the stereo over the weekend, making up sealed boxes for the rears and also buying some gear including a decent head unit. As per usual things took way longer than expected but slow progress is still progress! One of the previous owners had put speakers in the rear 1/4 trims so I figured I'd just open the holes up for 6x9s instead of cutting my parcel shelf.

Cheers mate, I can't speak highly enough of Mazpro in Bayswater, they were very fair and helpful.

One of many jobs on the list... Bumper worked it's way loose on the trip up. Layed bitumen in the wheel arches and painted the sills to tidy things up a bit last night. Lots of jobs left on the list!

Hey guys, We are still on for tomorrow night so I hope to see heaps of you down there! For those who have been to Mitcham before, the old van is shut and they have moved to the other side of Whitehorse Rd. No idea how good the new place is but I guess we will find out! Also, thinking about heading for a hills run to the Dandenongs afterwards, get keen!

Thanks guys, Jimi, I picked up the flag from a rickety little store in the suburbs of Osaka when I was there last year. It appears to be hand painted/screen printed. I thought it would add a different touch to the rear of the car and also stop the rear seat deteriorating more in the sun lol! I also held onto some coinage to put in the car at shows. The venetian will be re-fitted to the car once I have re-painted it and replaced some of the mounting tabs, one of the many jobs still left on the to-do list!

Thanks for the kind words guys. I took the car up to Lake Eildon this weekend as I was going waterskiing with mates. Car ran pretty well but I think I have a blocked PCV, there was some oil leakage issues on the run up. Still have a number of things to do; -Finish cutting the paint, cleanse and wax -5 Speed -Stereo -Mild N/A 5k -Diff and brake upgrades -Lower the rear Long term: 3SGE/3SGTE?

Hey guys, As some of you may know, I have got my KE20 on the road at long last! (LKE020) Now that it's together I figure it must be time for another Rollaclub Kebab night. Join us next week (8/11/12) at Mitcham Kebabs from 8pm 339 Mitcham Road, Mitcham VIC 3132 Anything cool is welcome, JDM/Classic Aussie/English/Euro/American Just stay away if you are in a late model Commo on 20s! :P Cheers, Dougal

Hey guys, Rather significant update; LKE020 is now registered! :D I have smashed the hours on the car over the last two weeks and the car is now rego'd and roadworthy (amazing what a bet with a mate will do :P). The car would have been done sooner but I had spent the previous few weeks on my brother's Stanza; prepping for a race day, breaking the car and fixing it! Still plenty more to do on the car before I'm happy with it but I must say I'm bloody stoked to have it on the road and enjoy driving it. I'm blown away by all the attention and positive comments I have received from other road users. A big thanks to the mates that helped out pulling late nights on the car till 3am to get it sorted! This has been such a great learning experience and even though things haven't gone to plan I'm still glad I bought this car. I will be taking the car up to Lake Eildon this weekend and so will have the chance to get some better pictures when I'm there, (apologies for the quality of these). More updates to come. An exhaust, motor, 5-speed and a few other goodies shouldn't be far away!

Thanks mate, in my opinion orange looks great on your car! I wouldn't change it ! Hey Long, the MDF was from Bunnings and the vynil from Clark Rubber.
-
Thanks mate, keen to get it all together now! I had a little thought the other day; as of two weeks ago this car has seen 4 girlfriends come and go lol, I should have given the car more love instead! :P Seriously though, I'm bloody stoked with the classic car scene atm, last Monday I was out photographing and driving my mates Corona with an 18RG. What a note! Also my mate has just bought a 1975 911 Targa from the US. I'm loving getting out and amoungst these cars, just gotta get mine together now. People who own new cars just don't get it!

Hey yeah sorry I haven't updated. Last weekend I cleaned up the dash and put it back together as well as the screens. Once again I am thankful for the help of a mate, i couldn't have done it alone! Rear screen was a breeze but the front was a pain in the arse, we had to pull it out twice and re-do it. I think the Rarespares rubber is a bit small and visually it's not great either. Today I put in the locking strip around the screen too, my fingers are rooted from it!
-
Good stuff mate, looks like you are doing a thorough job! Keep us posted with your progress.

Hey guys, The other night I trimmed the parcel shelf and boot divider, pretty happy with the results. Unfortunately I will be away on Holidays next week, time to get stuck in again next weekend.
-
Thanks mate, keen to see yours come together too! Today I raided Centre Rd wreckers for a heap of nuts/bolts and clips that I needed, all those little things that have been misplaced over the past 4 years! I have cleaned them all up and painted them so they are ready to fit. Ideally one day I'd like to have a heap of stainless bolts but that can come later on when funds permit. I also started making up a new parcel shelf and boot divider, but spent a bit of time trimming and re-fitting because although I had an old one to use as a template it was a bit damaged so some of the dimensions were askew. Now I just need to trim them with vinyl/wadding and then I can fit them to the car and put in the screens. Marking up the MDF before cutting; Cut and painted; What I will trim them with;

Hey guys, With the help of a mate today I fitted the headlining, sunvisors, pinchweld, fuel filler etc, and painted the front of the dash. It was quite a slow process getting the headliner to sit right but I'm pretty damn happy with the result now.
