Is the standard motor a 7AFE? I know bugger all about these.. -

Awesome, I've always wondered how one of these would go with a hot 7AGE! Understand this would be staying pretty standard though. -
So much love for this car mate, looks awesome! :y: I wish there were more of these around.
-
Yeah mate unfortunately they aren't! A bit of saving was needed there... I figured I will be keeping the car long term so there is no point half-arsing it. I bought mine from eBay out of The Netherlands, but I noticed Slide Industries had a boxing day sale the next day so they would have been cheaper! I found eBay was cheaper any other day though.

Hey guys, Still slow progress these days! :/ I just need to source some backing plates and then I should be able to fit up my new brakes In other news my new wheel and boss kit arrived; I must say I'm stoked with how it looks and feels! IMO the woodgrain and black spokes look at home next to the tan interior, and not too flashy or outrageous.

Awesome news! Bet that's a handful :P

Great work mate, nice to see some quality panel work.

Awesome project mate! IRS has always crossed my mind for a KE2x, but there is certainly a huge amount of work involved. All the best with the project, keen to see it progress.

Anyone keen to kick off for 2014 again this Thursday the 9th of Jan? Thinking of meeting at Mitcham Kebabs at 8pm and then heading out for a decent length cruise through the hills.. -
I finally got around to working on the minor brake upgrade for the front. Stripped down the KE70 Panno calipers and wire-brushed the rust, degreased them and replaced all the seals and then painted them. I just need to finish trimming back the Cortina EBC pads and then fit it all up to the car. Still slow progress on the motor whilst I save funds..

Nope, fiberglass TE27 one. Not really keen on the Golf lips on these.. I expect the arms will only be used off-street ;)
-
So I finally got around to painting and mounting the front lip before Classic Japan :) I also lowered the rear end some more and it looks heaps better, still needs better wheels etc but that is well down the list. Once the uni racecar stuff is over at the end of next week I will be able to get things happening on the motor and brakes again. I think adjustable LCAs will be on the cards too as I haven't managed to confirm the details on putting KE20 ball joints in 31 LCAs, and I don't want to enlarge the taper in my arms. Keeping this setup will also allow me to use technotoytuning bits down the track that were designed for KP61 Starlets. Pic courtesy of Josh.

Classic Japan 2013 - Sunday 1St December - Como Park, South Yarra

Couldn't agree more, car shows are not the place for that crap. Luke I agree with your comments on that Skyline, awesome build but it really needed some more tasteful wheels. Awesome event, how long now till next years? :P -

Awesome show! Well done to those who organised. Does anyone have some good pictures? I left the camera at home in a bid to look at the cars in detail rather than photographing them. -
Springs sound a bit stiff to me. You have quite a shopping list there! Must not have the same budget problems as me lol.

Couldn't agree more mate, that's a good way to go about it. Cool build, I have another mate with a set of those MRP coilovers and he is pretty happy with how they behave. What spring rate did you have in mind and what are you going to run in the rear end?

Cool idea with the esky stereo Adam! Great way to avoid cutting up good door cards.

This is a real pity. It would be great to see more classic racecars at the event. -
Yeah I should clock up 5000 miles, put in a clean 3k and sell for 10k! Nah all done unfortunately!
-
Haha yeah what can I say, it is a daily weapon! Something else cool happened last night; As my baby turns 40 this month the clock winds back to zero, new car!

One of the guys at uni has been doing some testing on a machine that de-carbonises an engine, by running a hydrogen/oxgen mixture through the engine whilst at idle for 40mins. As part of the testing he did a before and after run on the chassis dyno. For a laugh I put the Corolla up for the tests so I could get a base power figure to compare to once the 5k is built. Let's just say I hope to double this with the 5k! Before the gas treatment; After gas treatment;

Not really, split a heater hose 500m from home the other day so that was pretty lucky! Managed to get it home and changed without any signs of other damage. Once exams and the SAE comp is over I will get stuck in again. Any time I have had recently has been dedicated to driving the cars or fixing dramas with the MR2.
