  1. Nice build mate, loving the detail you've gone to! Subscribed for updates.
  2. Congrats Justin, very worthy! Amen, that's why I stopped buying it a few years back. The mag rarely lives up to it's name these days, plenty of trailer queens etc.
  3. Tail lights look great! Shortened diff with nice offset wheels will certainly look good, but it might be worth going for something stronger if you're fitting a 'GZE though?
  4. Progress! Cleaned down the block/cam/crank today (degreaser, soapy scrup, petrol wash, compressed air) and assembled the crank, cam, and bearings to the block. I also checked the end float and ring gap, finishing the rings with a ring file. Clean Checking ring gap End float Sorry for the picture quality, this phone is average at best.
  5. At last! Assembly pics soon.
  6. Unfortunately I don't have much to update with regards to the KE20 as I'm still waiting on machining. It is worth mentioning that I now own another Rolla though haha! I won't be starting a thread as I can't take credit for all Jarrad's hard work to date. He is also now a proud adub owner ;) Great to see it go to someone with the taste and commitment he has. Unfortunately it was a case of to many projects for me. I'll just be enjoying the ksev with fairly minor changes (Corona LCAs etc), particularly whilst the 20 is off the road for the 5k swap.
  7. Nice car, nice progress! That color is going to suit very nicely.
  8. Love the Longchamps mate, look the goods! Oil cooler and heat shield are neat too. :y:
  9. Hey guys, I've progressed a little more on the motor build, most recently I finished the head porting and evened the size of each combustion chamber. Just before xmas I cleaned up the Redline manifold, and matched the inlet of the manifold to the base of the Weber by making a simple template. In each case I started with a carbide before swapping to a stone to smooth out, and finishing off with an 80 grit emery and a little lower speed. (Pictured below to better explain). I'm led to believe that an 80 grit finish is more beneficial than a polished finish, this is a hotly contested debate! Today I took some more measurements on the chambers and piston crown volume, before handing it over to the machinists one last time. It looks like I'll end up with about 10:1 comp which should be pretty streetable. They'll be skimming the head and sorting out the valve seats and guides. I also repainted the front lip after a bit of damage in a Bunnings carpark, it's pictured below with the Cressy. It's hilarious that the first car I own with working aircon was built in 1977! It is ice cold, a lot more effective than the MR2. I'll post some more detailed pics as the assembly process begins. Cheers
  10. I used a small carbide working around the port gently, trying not to rest in a spot for too long.
  11. I made a template from the manifold and then matched the ports to that, and trimmed the gasket a bit afterwards. Can't say I had an issue. I didn't have to take very much off and I was pretty gentle though.
  12. Hey guys, A little bit of progress to report. I have bought a manifold to suit the Weber's and started porting the 3KB head and deshrouding the valves yesterday. It's been great to learn off someone who's done it all before and save a bit of cash too. I'll try and keep things on the move so the motor can be together and in the car sometime in January. The uni racecar comp is on in mid December so I'm still short on time for the rolla until then. For those interested check out the team page https://www.facebook.com/teamswinburne?fref=ts It's pretty cool building and racing a car with someone else's money! Progress pics;
  13. Yeah the ones I have been looking at are teflon lined, I was interested to see yours had a grease nipple on them.
  14. Coming along well mate, love your work. Where are you buying your rose-joints from?
  15. God those bumpers are bad! Look forward to your progress mate.
  16. Hey guys, Kicking this off again this Thursday now that the good weather is on the way. Meeting 7pm at Kebab Joint in Mulgrave; https://www.google.c...ed=0CJMBEPwSMBA All with cool cars/bikes welcome and we plan on heading for a short drive to the hills after we've had a chat and kebab. Usual common sense rules apply, let's not give the cops a reason to target us. Hope to see you there!
  17. Hey guys, My apologies for being slack with this car recently. Been pretty busy with uni and the racecar so the KE20 has been relegated to daily duties until I have a bit more time in summer. The diff upgrade and motor swap will happen then. It doesn't help that I've been distracted by this recently! Also I picked this up today.. Exciting things to come with the KE20 and MX32 come summer :D
  18. Coming along really well, thanks for the update!
  19. That's a fair excuse then! How's your car going Stu?
  20. Forgot how early this was so I had to come straight from uni in the unwashed Corolla! Awesome meet! :y: We need to keep the momentum going, Vic rollaclub culture is going strong again. Hopefully Stu/Jarrad,Paul etc can make it to the next meet. Cheers guys for an awesome night, here's a few crappy phone pics.
  21. I'm down, hopefully the MR2's first outing on club reg ;)
  22. Yeah mate, I'm in awe :y: ETA on turning the key?
  23. Awesome, that firewall work is pretty full on!
  24. Sweet, fair enough. It is unfortunate that Toyota has no Nistune equivalent, it's generally a pretty big expense if you want to tune or change the ECU on a Toyota motor!
  25. Cool project mate, love your work! What ECU do you plan on running?
