  1. always a shame.. also swirls can be from dirty pads, i always wash my pads before buffing.. once i have done half the car and the pad seems to start sticking a bit from having too much compound in it (from using lots of compound on deep scratches).. detailing new cars can almost be as bad as detailing used cars cause half the time they are damaged from transport.. had a rangerover vogue that had been put on the bottom level of a car carrier and the top level resting on the roof (left nice scratches had to sand half the roof then buff really carefully.. got many great storys from day to day work.. and some of the dodgy things that happen at new car dealerships.. Cheers Matt
  2. not too bad.. its a shame there is that scrape on the front bar kinda ruins the good work would have looked pretty seemless if it wasnt there.. i have never taken any photos of my details just off the mobile usually when i do an aston or bently .. will have to find the camera and start snapping cheers matt
  3. the problem there with new cars and swirl marks is generally from too heavy of a cut and not glazing after with a foam glazing pad, this happens because of lazy detailers, also with alot of used car dealerships that do their own buffing do really quick jobs with really harsh pads as alot of detailing products are not available to the general public, and are available through business contract basis only (company's such as AutoSmart and Omikron) as they only deal with bulk orders. Exactly right, if you go to fast over a panel you are most likely to come up with swirls, lowish speed and slow movent over the panel is the best with a light to medium pressure on the buff, or start off with a medium pressure and work back to a low pressure, just don't move too slowly or the panel will heat up very quickly and can/ will burn through the paint, or burn compound onto the panel (can be annoying to get off) and if at a high speed and you start burning the compound it can leave claw marks/ crows feet type marks in the paint. i detail for a new and used car dealership in sydney and have NEVER let a new car leave with swirls.. as i would no longer have a job LOL.. if anybody has any questions about detailing feel free to ask away.. if you need any tips etc: Cheers Matt
  4. yeah i was going to say so too.. also check the point on the dizzy are clean and the button is in good order.. used to have a pulsar that did the same thing would drive reasonably well (well for a nissan anyway :sob: ) then when backing off the go pedal and down gearing it would usually stall, looked at the timing seemed to be fine .. points well all good but the button had built up S**t on it so cleaned it up and she went fine....
  5. is that ke11_restorers ?? nick is something like that
  6. SAw this thing about 10 minutes ago damn hot.. was half asleep in the car and spotted this thing and it woke me up straight away... Looks stunning nice effort and the venitian blind :hmm: i believe its mr1000's not too sure but looked like the guy who bought the diff off me anybody spotted any other forumer's on the road lately..
  7. i work as a car detailer and the amount of people that come in re-gretting buying a black car because of the unkeep is just insane.. have dozens that come in that look as if they have been washed with a sanding block because most people have no idea how to do a job properly.. if your going to buy or spray a car black make sure your going to take care of it aswell because they just look shocking if they arent cared for properly.. swirls will be your worst nightmare.. same goes with many dark colours but black being the worst.. white for the win but it does oxidise aswell as red.. as the sun drys the paint out if its not waxed and or garaged.. if your only problem is with your current paint that it is faded (oxidised) go have it buffed and it should come up like new.. if your in NSW i could offer a cheap job myself for a weekend Cheers Matt
  8. Hi, does anybody else agree that there should be a place where you can name and shame idiot drivers on the road.. as this afternoon i was almost side swiped by an idiot in a white SSS pulsar which was racing another SSS pulsar .. i was just putting along and this idiot just missed my rear quater by centimetres just to get infront of the other car he was racing.. which really agravated me because of this idiots decision to play russian roulette with other motorists on the road just to inflate his traffic appendage.. i got the idiots rego plate number but there isnt much you can really do is there.. green p plater with fully sick chrome rims.. IDIOT / END RANT Cheers Matt
  9. Even new cars have k's on them when you buy them.. so the term overrated is hard to really classify.. say if you had a ke10 corolla that was original in everyway except had a 5k or 4k in it would it still be considered overrated ? or would that just be in good condition.. everybody has their own perception of what overrated means to them i guess
  10. you can usually find them on trademe.co.nz which is like the NZ ebay..
  11. yeah true i have an e30 with a m42 (318is ) and it reasonably quick but problem with bmws is selling the things again seems to be no market at the moment.. i have to end up parting mine out to get some of the money spent on it back.. if i didnt put the m42 in i probably would have even gone the buick myself with a manual tranny.. e30s with holden motors go sick... ill have to go see if i can find some of the pics of it :(
  12. can't go wrong with the old buick motors.. i dunno why not.. i have had 2 VS commodores one with the emo-tec and other with the buick .. to me the buick seemed as if it had a bit more torque and easier to get sideways LOL as all commonwhore drivers do when you get behind the wheel of one cause its probably going to be the most excitment you will fell behind the wheel of one cause they are a sack of shit to drive.. also drove a mates e30 bmw with a buick in it.. went incredibly good and wheel spun constantly without effort..
  13. Gti also has a different guage cluster , rear spoiler
  14. what motor is that ke10 choptop running .. I'm going blind.. 3t ??
  15. philbey that would be great if you could chop something up for us if your keen and get time cause i really want this to go ahead . can't wait to have a ke1x shirt for those of us fortunate enough to own one of the lil things.. cheers guys
  16. everybody can find a 5k bar me.. i can't even give a 4k away in sydney :P and I'm not paying a wrecker 2,200 for a 7k.. if only i was in S.a. or QLD doesnt seem to be too many members in NSW
  17. i will post them up if you send them to me.. ill send you my email address in PM Cheers Matt
  18. wow way too much time on your hands to go to that much detail in the drawing .. lol .. love it cheers matt
  19. yeah paper notes are still all good .. found some a while back (bout a year or so ago) in an old draw we were moving out the old folks place and found about $150 worth in old notes .. told my grandfather bout it and he told me to keep it so i did.. went to a local store and they said they wouldnt take it .. second shop i went to allowed me to use one of the fiver's but then i went to the back and got the notes swapped over .. then all was good
  20. v12 Vanquish's are hot driven a couple of them and the vanquish S amd couple DB9s etc etc: all the aston range are hot but best car and most pimping car i been in / driven / detailed would have to be the bentley continental flying spur
  21. probably not the best idea for somebody who is inexperience to tackle byhimself .. so line up you new engine .. get a mate who has swapped an engine over before to give you a hand.. K motors are a piece of P*SS to change over.. and easiest engines to play around with and build up your mechanical knowledge.. with a brick of beam and a few tools you can get a k motor out in about half hour with somebody experienced.. carby motors are too damn easy.. (might take you bit longer than 1/2 hour for a first timer) but remember to be legal you will have to have the engine inspected once installed to make sure everythings hunky dorry etc: but all in all easy power upgrade.. also might help to look at the brakes a bit if you have a stock ke10 with standard brakes and everyhting.. might want to put some different callipers on there etc: Cheers Matt
  22. sounds good guys.. start posting up ke1X smaps that you have and we can get a poll going.. as far as i know the will be on white tee's with red writing (close to that of the red interior trim some 10's have) so I'm looking for people to post um pictures of Ke1X's and we will all vote.. also need to make sure we have owners permission if it is somebodys car.. Cheers Matt
  23. i have always wondered this too.. wether id be able to get a 18RG / 2T or 3T into the ke11 with carb set-up of efi.. anybody know if this has been done before ?
  24. Hey guys, first off i don't know if i have this in the right section or not but i have been doing a bit of re-search lately into getting some ke1x shirts made and i currently have a guy designing them as we speak.. so far the shirts would feature the picture below with KE1X on top of the photo and the photo will be cropped etc: I would like to see if anybody is interested in getting themselves a shirt aswell.. rough price is about $20 - $30 posted to whereever you like.. obviously the more interest the lower the price.. i will update as soon as i recieve artwork in my email.. or if you guys have any ideas for the shirts aswell or if somebody has a better pic of an immaculate ke1x either 10 or 11 cheers matt
