  1. If you are going to pull the 3k out, you might as well drop the 5k in. Everything drops into the smae place and all the 3k accessories bolt up. Its basically the same motor but with an extra 300cc of goodness. You will definitely notice the extra torque of the 5k. Give you an example. Lined up 2 KE20's down an 8th mile airstrip. Mine running a stock 5k except fot the cam and carbs. the other was running a modded 4k with a BIG cam, high comp ported head, modded carb ect. The 5k pulled away more than a car length before we pulled the pin.
  2. After 5 kids I'm in the same boat
  3. ewwwww. As someone that has worked with deep fryers on and off for over 20 years that is not a nice image to have.................
  4. and more ʞ©$ɟing reports  seriously over them
  5. WGMG!!! Writing ʞ©$ɟing reports!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. tip it on its side. Soooooo much easier than crawling around under the car ;) Just don't do it on your mums lawn like I did when there is still fuel in the tank............
  7. Standard diff will live behind a 5k without to much stress if you don't drive it like a dick.
  8. Used to be one in Ballarat, still done up in the signwriting from the '70's speedshop that used to own it way back when. Still remember going into the place with the old man too. There was/is a Mk2 Escort running a BDF (?) Cossie in the Ballarat Light Car Club. Anyway, it was supposed to be more exotic than the "boring" BDA Cossie........
  9. WGMG - my missus and new bubs being in hospital 80km away.
  10. Know an owner of a KE25 who flipped every leaf bar the main leaf to lower the car. This combined with Formula Ford race tyres caused some serious issues with the handling of the car. To the point that both rear wheels would hop around a foot off the ground under really tight cornering.
  11. Why do people insist on making KE3#'s stiffer in the rear. Even with standard stiffness, my KE35 would single spin to a stop in tight corners. Making it stiffer would make the problem worse. Went softer in the rear end of my KE20.
  12. What he said ^^^^^^^^ With our system, during summer it was generating around 25-30 kw a day. Our average usew was about 12 kw a day. So multiply the excess by around 60c and you get a nice little earner :) Our power provider allows us to cash out if we want to, or it can be used to pay for our gas bill. Others don't allow you to cash out or will send you a cheque every quarter. Need to shop around.
  13. No, first bill since it was installed. Really kicked arse over summer. Also we managed to get onto the premium rebate here in Vic. 65cents per KW for anything we don't use.
  14. Cheers mate. Didnt even think of Celica :) This one helps makes it 3 boys and 2 girls
  15. Just like to anounce the birth of bubs number 5 today. Lily Rose Cecelia born this morning, both Mum and bubs doing well. This one stuffs up the age sequence of 6, 5, 4, 3 though.......
  16. Want to save a shit load of cash, don't have kids! We slapped up some solar panels on the roof. We went from $500ish bill to $750 credit on the last bill :) Still earning us money even with the average weather atm.
  17. I hear you on this one. I remember trying to push my KE20 around by myself on the oldmans concrete. The bastard would move a foot or two and then roll back on me - and the concrete was level. The rear end would wind up and when you stopped pushing, it would return back to where you started.....
  18. Worked in a foundry for a while. They wanted a met but job had nothing to do with it. Left after 6 months and went making sun blinds. Ended up installing shade sails which was sorta cool travelling Vic doing it. Money was shit though. Did the grad dip and went into teaching.
  19. Why the need to a T series box. It will need a serious 4K to overstress a K series box. For example, in 15 odd years of fast street driving/competition I broke 2 boxes. I was driver error. Slotting 1st gear at 50ish km/h didnt do it much good, but it was still drivable. Second box had a pin in the shifter mechanism break locking it in second gear...... Both of these were behind worked 5K's so the boxes were getting more torque pumped through them than a 4k would grunt out. If it is going behind something else and I misread the title of the post, then ignore the above, but if you are constantly breaking boxes behind a 4k, it would be easier to modify your driving style..........
  20. Thats how we did mine years ago. Pulled apart the leaf pack. Straightened the main leaf so it was 2" lower and rebuilt it. Only thing was that they curved the wrong way when the weight of the car went on them.
  21. That sucks Rob. I'll stick to my two jobs.
  22. I hope this works out for you guys. I know the money and time that the Ballarat Light Car Club put into getting a race track built and it fell over in the end. They had the facilities - autocross track etc. - the land was next to an airport, so no issues with noise and it had the potential to be 100% booked, being as stones throw from a freeway and an hour from Melbourne, but it still fell through in the end. I have a feeling that a couple of business/local government people have had their eyes on the land the club sits on to develop (there have been some interesting proposals put up over the years - flying cars for one!-, so money talked......... Best of luck with it all.
  23. Yay. I aint the only one with 8 odd years of uni. 2 years mining eng, jumped across to metallurgy for 4 years for a B of Sc. Went back for 12 months for a grad dip in education - that was a waste of time. Might of just done the teaching rounds for the good that the uni time did.
  24. Ran cut springs in my KE35. Very bad as they were no longer captive, but i got away with it.......... In the rear, we dearched the main leaf by 2" using the old mans press. Once reassembled and installed, it dropped further. Basically it was on the bump stops, which I had to cut in half to gain some travel. Here is a pic (at a dodgy angle sorry) of how it used to sit.
  25. Was that the one that was for sale in Talbot?? That one has disappeared from the side of the road :(
